But so does the search engine.

seriously. Whenever some one brings up a topic that has been covered I wanna say UTMFSE!!!. But the truth is I know better. I will type in the fucking name of a thread and it wont be in the 2 first pages that show up. So whats up? Seriously!? How does the search work. Are tags the most important. Even advanced search doesnt always net me a good find.

Maybe this should be in the piss and moan,...but I know I am not alone.

Try Googling it.

I've had problems with the search engine here that I haven't on other boards including vbulletin...

Google might work if it's indexed; you can search a specific site in google with:
site:website.com "find me"

site:forum.opiophile.org "how long.."

OK. Tru that. But why should I have to Google it? There is stuff that shows up on google and directs attention to this site. Not good.

I agree with the searching thing...alot of times to find what you want you have to use quotation marks, and some other tricks when you use the built in search function on the board...but googling will almost always work.

Google isn't the number one search engine on the net cause they give out free dope :P
They have a badass searching code.

the 20 second wait doesn't help either... that means if nothing comes up or i wanna rephrase my search i gotta wait another 20 seconds

The 20 second wait and the poor search engine are worse on this forum than any other I have ever used.

Not complaining, just contextualizing.

(opiophile, regardless of the aforementioned flaws, is still my fav forum to visit, promise!)

I'm not the biggest fan of TFSE either. It has become a little easier to use at times. It really helps if you know the SN of who started the thread or some one who posted a few times in it.

I was always so uptight about the whole "UTFSE" thing that I'd search on-and-off for a day or two, not the most expedient method, before I'd find what I was looking for.

if people bothered to rate quality threads and you could search via best rating, it might be more effective.

I agree with everyone that our search engine sucks. Unfortunately, it's one of the few things that I don't have much, if any ability to make meaningful change to.

All I can suggest is to use google. Not all of our sub-forums will appear on a google search though.
