does anyone know how much a script of 60 10mg generic focalin (dexmethylphenidate) pills would cost?
I am on 60 20mg methylin (methylphenidate) pills a month and its cheap but I was considering asking my doctor for focalin. if focalin is really expensive I won't be able to afford it so theres no point in asking. also would it be a bad idea to even ask to switch to focalin? I don't want the doctor to get pissed off and not want to give me anything or something like that. any tips?

I took Focalin and liked it a little better than Ritalin. Three problems:

1. Expensive. My Co-pay for 30 days worth of Ritalin is $10. It was $40 for Focalin.

2. Not all pharmacies carried it -- had to go on a "script quest" -- (driving all over town from pharmacy to pharmacy).

3. The deal killer -- it is supposed to be twice as strong as Ritalin. My doctor would prescribe 60 mg. Ritalin per day, but only 20 mg. of Focalin. (a 1/3 reduction if my math is correct.)

Not worth it in my opinion.

If money is a concern, I would NOT try and switch.

60 5 mg teva IR generic dexmethylphenidates are about 40 to 60 dollars IME without insurance. I'm assuming the 10 mg ones wouldn't be too much more.

The Focalin XR (brand only, it's on patent) is MUCH more expensive.

IMO generic focalin is one of the few Teva products that DOESN'T suck.

In general, focalin is fantastic. It's body load is NON-existant compared to racemic methylphenidate (Ritalin). Dexmethylphenidate is also exactly 2x more potent IME, so it follows that the levo isomer is pretty much inactive on the CNS (but active on the PNS, giving ritalin its nasty body load).

Focalin is a very under-rated drug even orally / insuffulated. I've heard that IV focalin is as good as IV cocaine but lasts longer.

Hey Resorcinol, How the heck do you get an ADHD drug such as Fuckalin? Especially, considering your high knowledge of chemistry and whatnot that you obviously posses it doesn't seem like you have any problems concetrating. Narcolepsy maybe? Weigh loss? Fake ADHD? I apologizwe for the personal nature of my question, I'm just extremely curious.

I found a place that will sell 60 10mg generic focalin for around $70 which only 10 more than my ritalin. however if they won't give me the equivalent of my ritalin (60 20mg) then it is pointless. so I guess its not worth risking the possibility I will get less than I do now? any suggestions on what to say to get switched? still not sure if I am going to or not. I definitely prefer focalin over ritalin in the forms I've tried it.

I have ADHD, but all the meds are a no no for me. Anything that will increase my heart rate is out of the question. I managed to get by with out my whole life. Was rxed as a kid, but moms wasn't haven't anything to do with Ritalin.

Thing is the shit works well, I have tried it several times. But I have learned to deal with being all over the place at times in my mind.
