So i came across this youtube channel of this Psychiatrist, called DrMindMD, he has some VERY interesting videos on things like benzodiazepines.

the kicker?

He is a pdoc? My god. Somehow I doubt it.
It seems like he's on a major tranquilizer, or depakote, etc.
His vid about seroquel (quetiapine) was funny, comparing it to heroin or some shit.
I don't see how that drug has any recreational value, but apparently it does for some.
It gave me major road rage, and made me feel like shit.
Just about all dopamine antagonists do that to me. Thats why I don't take them, ever.
I never understood benzo seeking behavior, since EtOH seemed to ease those w/d pretty well.
But then I've never been dependent on long-acting benzos, or any benzo for very long.

He is the Psychiatric director of a hospital, and also writes a lot of peer reviewed subjects on psychiatry.
but like I said he is def. fucking strange.
We also have some disagreements on pain killers, the danger of benzos, etc. however I really do like watching his videos.

That dude is SCARY....... We tease at my psych hospital that the only way you can reliably tell the patients from the staff is that staff wears keys around their necks, but this dude looks like he is taking Depakote, Seroquel, Neurontin, Tegretol, Lamictal, Lithium, Zyprexa, Geodon and Haldol ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Only thing missing is the tongue rolling & drooling.
Wow.....wish we could still access YouTube at work, I'd share this big time.

His demeanor and general philosophy is a lot like my last PDOC, scary- actually frightening.I had to fire that guy, he was insane and seeing this brought back those memories.Its amazing that someone like this is allowed to practice, if he indeed is legit.

Man--- I've been browsing through his videos---- god damn! This guy is freaking awesome..... He's got easter eggs, cat outfits, all sorts of whacky shit----- and he delivers his lectures in the same deadpan- drone......

except for tegretol, which i've never heard of,
i've taken all those meds at the same time, plus a couple more...
benze-something, thorazine/thoramide(?), valium, i don't fucking remember

Ok, I've gotten completely hooked on this guy's videos. I think I've watched almost all of them now.. It definitely has that train wreck appeal. It took a while before I was completely convinced he was for real, but he does seem to know his stuff, as bizarre as his demeanor is..

This guy must be liberal with his prescription pad, because no way anyone would go to him for counseling. (I just watched 1 vid, he is made up like a cat).

He's a hospital psychiatrist, he doesn't have a private practice.. Also he seems pretty reluctant to write medications with abuse potential (he said Klonopin was a 'last resort for men who looked like they were going to have a heart attack). He seems to be really big on mood stabilizers though..
