Going into detox tomorrow afternoon, had a few questions. The lady I talked to said to make sure I came in sick but didn't really say how sick. SHould I be puking or is just raised blood pressure/sweats enough? She said it's a 1-5 day detox but who the hell is done kicking after 5 days? Let alone 1? She said they use suboxone, valium, and a few other comfort meds. This'l be my worst detox to date and the only one I've needed to go in for. I wanted to do it at home but wasn't able to score any benzos and I'm not doing this shit ct, im a pussy.

wish me luck..or not......latas

Exactly how sick is probably subjective, but she just means sick enough that the suboxone doesn't send you into precipitated w/d. So pretty sick, in other words.. I would guess a minimum 36 hours from your last dose would probably be a good spot to aim for - longer if you can hold out. I've heard of people still getting nasty effects after 24.

First off, you are NOT a pussy! I would have KILLED for an assisted detox a couple days ago- but that wasn't an option for me. We all have our breaking point, and we all know what we can and can't handle. That does not make us pussies, it makes us human.

I can't answer your question as far as "How Sick"... but I can wish you the best of luck, and let you know I'll be thinking about you and hoping it goes quickly and as pain free as possible.

36 hrs after my last dose I'm feeling as bad as I'm going to feel. I start feeling quite awful (shits, sweats, wicked headaches, nauseua) around 12 hours after my last dose, I'ma go in probably 20 hours after last dose and hope they take me.

yeah you should be fine after 20 hours. just tell them its been like 36 hrs or something. they are usually only a few days cuz they do a suboxone taper, and the sub has a long half life and the one I went to sent me home with 7 8mg subs when I left. Im not sure if the one u are going to does the same thing but when I did it I ended up breakin up the 8mgs they sent me home with and did a real slow taper. It actually worked really well and I liked it alot better than the methadone detoxes Ive done which always had me feeling a little sick when the methadone wore off. good luck man

Heres some good news. After the years go by you will learn how to

detox without assistants. Unless you got lotsa doe. I like the df slow

an steady detox. For me the most important thing has been

to have areason to stop. And usually it doesn't last. I just know how good I can feel.

I totaly hate being at the mercy of dr. I always keep a em. stash. allways. anyhoo gl

on your plan

Ya I 'know how' but for the next few days money is dry and no access to subs, so it's this or b sick as fuck at home and i'm too chicken shit to do it.

I don't understand how its a "detox" if they're going to be giving you another opiate...

When you are detoxing...are u allowed to have visitors? Like can parents come or something? I mean, what if you're very handicapped and need an aide? If having your aide help you with some realyl personal things would make you more comfortable, would the facility allow it?

Kilobyte, the suboxone will be given like once or twice, andin very mild doses, it's just to help thepatient ease into it a bit, but I may just end up asking them to hook me up with a sub doc instead of totally detoxing, i don't know, I'm confused as hell. I'm lucky to have several options and good insurance to cover whatever route i take. The only option I want to choose (buying more dope), is most likely the one I won't be able to choose, and I've been wanting to kick for a long time, it's lost it's appeal, the game, getting high, copping, all of it. It doesn't excite me like it used to; it's about as appealing as hand washing a toilet now.

the one I went to used the 2mgs while you were in the hospital, and gave me 8mgs when I left. the schedule was
2mg every 4 hours the first day.
then 2mgs every 6 hrs the 2nd.
then 1mg every 6 hours the 3rd.
then 1mg every 8 hours the 4th
then 1mg every 12 hours the 5th day n then I left the following day after they gave me 1mg in the early am. they gave me 7 8mgs when I left but thats cuz I told them I was coming back for their outpatient suboxone/counseling program.

36 hours is the MOST I would wait. 36 hours is excessive to say the least.
Do your last dose around 5pm and then go in the next day in the afternoon. You'll be fine.
Good luck.

This is quite common in most detox clinics actually.

We have never met, but contrary to being a " pussy " I admire
your courage! It takes a lot of balls to do what you are doing.

I wish you the best of luck and please post when you are able to
let us know how you are doing......

Ya I chickened out last second, the very last second. I was filling out the paper work assuming I was going to be dosed with the suboxone within 30 minutes but found out from the nurse that first I had to piss and they had to send it away to a hospital a ways away to test it b4 i could even get ne subs. So I preyed my guy would pick up his phone earlier today than usual (he answered at 10am, hella early for a man in this business), and he did.

So I went down and copped. But I'm calling my doc tomorrow and seeing if he can just get me into sub maint* so I don't have to stay at a hospital without my roommate who is also my caregiver. I can't even transfer myself and I don't want some strange nurse putting my ass on the toilet. If he can't set me up I am going to go back tho, tomorrow evening or the next morning. I just started freaking out when I got there and felt 5x as bad as I was before I got there.

I went back in two days later, just got out today. They had me on a fast sub taper but they gave me enough for ten days today till I can find a doc to maintain me on it. It wasn't too bad but I lost my apartment and roommate (best friend last ten yrs) and had to move back home. Parents found out about everything (IV use etc) but have been great about it which is something because this isn't my first time. Just updating this thread, wish me luck, even with the subs the cravings r a mutha fuka.

Hey man, I don't know your entire situation...I know you are wheel chair bound and pissed dirty at your pain clinic...and then you went for detox...i think that's right anyways.

All I'm saying is, it sounds like your situation is pretty critical, why dont you find a pain clinic that specializes in addiction? there are a couple around here I know of and they seem really cool. The doctors are very compassionate and have a great program for using traditional pain meds with Chronic Pain Patients who struggle with addiction. I know you say money isn't there and you can't really get around, but a lot of times if you got good insurance, those things can be worked out.

I'm just curious, sounds like you deserve more than you're getting and that hits me on a personal level.

Whatever you choose, whatever path you take, I hope you make it and are as well off as can be. The game of Life is a hard one to play my friend

I'm just going to go without opies for pain for the time being luda, and maintain on a low dose of suboxone for the forseable future. I don't need the meds to get out of med like a lot of you guys with real serious pain issues, I can function without them, I just wanted them to be more comfortable. In the future I'll probably end up back on them but for now I'll go without and hopefully get my jacked up tolerance lowered to where a small amount will help. Thanks for reply. And ya u got the jist of my situation

In terms of suboxone and tollerance -- watch out. Being on them for a long time (regardless of dose) for me always slams my tollerance into overdrive.

Ya but if my tolerance is high and I'm not getting high it will help to keep me sober. If I was at a place and someone offered me a 40 and I had no tolerance id b hardpressed not to toot that bitch up. But if I'm at 16mg of sub a day it would take a gram of dope IVD for me to even consider taking nething.
