got switched from mscontin to oxycontin

I went to my pain dr and after asking him for several months to be switched from mscontin to oxycontin he finally did it. Origanaly he told me that he had no problem rxing any kind of oxcodone expect for oxycontin becasue of the DEA. I was rx 100mg mscontin 2xdaily, and 30mg oxycodone IR 2x daily for breakthrough pain. My doc said he would not prescibe anything stronger then 40mg ocs, and I would have to come down to the office 2 times a month and have the ocs counted to ensure i was taking the correct amount...If I felt that I needed to take 1 extra pill any time I would hve to call him and get permission, if I didnt and the count of the bottle was off I would be taken off OCS. So he switched me to 40mg x3 daily, and 30mg oxycodone IRx2 daily. My doc told me "If you request the brand name Oxycontin you will look like a drug addict, and I will look like a drug dealer" I asked him to explain more and he said "Only junkies want the brand name ones becasue you can break the time realese on them and abuse them, and they have a very high street value." So even though i wanted the brand name I choose for at least a month or two to get the generics to make him happy. My normal pharm did not carry ocs so I had to go to a fuckin Walgreens to get it filled. I was waiting and heard the pharmacist call the doc to ensure it was a real script, and varify the count on the script. She had enough nerve to ask me "This is a very strong narcotic, why do you need it?" "You are a pharmacist NOT a dcotor, my medical condiotn, and why I need certain medication is none of your fuckin buisness", I repied. I took her name and called the pharmacy board this morning and filed a complaint agasint her..I dont think she has any authority to question why someone needs medication, fuckin self rightous pharmacists.

I had some one do that to me over a 10mg endocet long ago. However about your pills. What you CAN do (if you can / want to) and im sure you have thought about this. But you can start taking 2 a day of each and horde one. Then you can have a nice lil stock pile for if u ever want extra fun.

thats what i did with the morhine..I saved like 150 over 3 months, cause I had alot of oxys and percs and got sick or morph, so I was happy for the change. My normal pharm that fills my oxy IR dosnt carry ocs becasue they are a mom and pop store and fraid of getting robbed for them..they told me if I am going get 120 of the 40's for sure that they will order them for me, that is what i am going to do. You know it is a good pharmcy when you come in the first time and the owner comes up and introduces his self and shakes you hand, and when you walk in he knows your name and takes under 5 minutes to get your script ready...know that is fuckin service, fuck the big corporate bullshit chains.

Or you can just chew 'em up to get high; works for me, but then, I don't IV, so if that's your thing nevermind...

But I like satori's idea of putting one aside each day 'till you got a nice little stockpile. That is if it's not an intense pain issue where you absolutley gotta have it..

I swear to fucking christ, the day is gonna come when you just won't be able to get OxyContin at all anymore; unless maybe the DEA sends out "assessors" to meet with you personally, interogate you, U/A you, and accompany you to special DEA-run narcotic pharmacies. Fuck...

And for recreational users like me, without intense pain issues, they are becoming very difficult to aquire on the street And now around here they're priced close to a buck a milligram. Never thought I'd see it happen here--last summer, they were everywhere, and cheap too. Fuck!

Caesee, I am glad to hear your doctor finally listened to you! It's about time a doc grew some balls and actually listened to their patient. I love my doctor. Got some disturbing news though. He is going to sell the practice and retire by November of this year. That really sucks. However, he did say he would be practicing 1-2 days a week, and will continue to see patients like me. Thanks God! I been going there for six years now, every month, so he ought to see me!

Oxycontin was a God send for me some years ago. It was by far the best pain medicine I had ever taken. It was short lived though. I never chewed it or used it recreationally, so I can't comment on that. But for someone with chronic pain, it really was a breakthrough in pain management. However, after a while, it stopped working as well, and by time I started having to take it 3x's daily, my mood was so affected my wife was about to ship me to Zimbabwe(sp.). She forbids me to take it now. And, with all she's had to deal with I try to keep her happy. :) Its not easy to be in pain, and I am sure it is not easy to watch someone in pain either.

Good luck with it. I can't believe the things you have to do to get it now, though. I get 150 40mg (starting this month) methadone biscuits... I have no trouble whatsover... and there have been more methadone related deaths in this county in the last five years than all the illicit and other narcotic pain medicine combined. It really appears the DEA has just targeted OC. and for those who need it, it's really unfortunate!

It make you feel like shit when you come in and dumpb your pills on the desk, then 2 nurse's count them and put the count on your chart....grrrr i shoudl replace them with like asprin or somehting as a joke, but I think i would get cut off then

No, although I have my suspicions as to whether he might start getting more uptight now that I'm on Oxy.
