SWIM has a syringe that a friend gave them that was only used 1-3 times. This friend told SWIM that they can bleach the needle and SWIM found a good set of instructions on how to do this online. However these instructions state that the bleach may not kill the Hep C. From research SWIM has done they've found that NJ only had needle exchange programs in very few ghetto areas. is there any other way SWIM can acquire a needle, such as just going to a pharmacy or something? This person needs the advice quick.
I understand the rules of the board and am not looking for a specific pharmacy for SWIM but just trying to understand how they can do what they need to do safest.
thanks

I'm only sayin' what I've read in the papers; AC has a program. Wish I could help you more, Bate, but all I can think of is AC cause I think they've been pretty good with the program. Hopefully logistically you can work something out. Good Luck!
EDIT: AC, as in the southern part of NJ (for those who don't know). :p

where in NJ are you? I know they've finally opened some exchanges in places like jersey city, but for years friends of mine took weekly trips into manhattan to go to the exchange- any cvs/rite-aid/pharm. in ny will also sell to you....if you are out in the western/south part of NJ, i really don't know- maybe a phone call to one of the 'ghetto' ones (simple google search turned up a few) could refer you/steer you in right direction:confused:
good luck and be safe!

Most needle exchanges are in "bad" areas. Why not just buy yhem from the pharmacy. Have you tried that? Very simple solution.

Yea like my buddy said a few posts ago, you can't buy points in nj w/o script.
SWIM knows 2 people that have insulin pins and is going to try and swing by their cribs and find/take one. If they got a box of 50+ im sure they wont miss one.

I have never IV'd anything. Is an insulin syringe the right size? For years I gave myself allergy shots and bought needles from the pharmacy. The allergy doctor gave me a prescription for the syringes, but the pharmacist gave it back to me and said no script was required. (I know I am in a different state from the OP), but decided to use his thread to ask the question I have had a long time -- Are allergy syringes, diabetic syringes all the same and used to IV all drugs?
Thanks!

Yeah insulin syringes are fine and syringes are pretty much syringes. The only relevance is needle and barrel size.

"The requirement for an Rx for syringes may be waived with photo identification[in NJ]."
