Esoerline is an opioid which is a metabolite of physostigmine which is prescribed for alzheimers and glaucoma and other things. anyways the metabolite is not a controlled substance. does anyone have much info on this?

A google search for "Esoerline" yields virtually nothing. Maybe one or two completely random pages that think you mean "esterline". This definetly surprised me, cuz if its an opioid that is of any value to us o-philes...then its all good cuz this stuff is reaally low key. I'll keep searching and let you know what I find.

its eseroline no esoerline
heres a bit...
"Eseroline was comparatively more toxic than the parent compound, physostigmine. Eseroline elicited a dose- and time-dependent leakage of LDH and release of adenine nucleotides from the neuronal cells. A nonneuronal cell line, rat liver ARL-15, was comparatively the most resistant cell type to eseroline toxicity. The concentrations of eseroline needed for 50% release of adenine nucleotides or 50% leakage of LDH from NG-108-15 and NIE-115 cells in 24 hr ranged from 40 to 75 μhttp://www.sciencedirect.com/cache/MiamiImageURL/B6WXH-4DD1Y3V-3P-2/0?wchp=dGLbVlb-zSkzV
I was interested in this compound a few years ago.
reading up on the subject...
the compound can be source indirectly from the calabar bean...which is also called the ordeal bean.
due to its toxicity, this bean has been use for torture and murder, and as a agent of punishment.
what would be interesting...is some analog study of this compound.
neurotoxic apparently....not something that one would want to mess with long term.

hopefully it is only as neurotoxic as something like amphetamine. btw, sorry for the typo. I noticed it on wikipedia when I was looking up opioid indoles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eseroline
jacky are there alkaloids in the calabar bean that are opioids, is eseroline an alkaloid? or do you mean you could obtain a precursor to eseroline like physostigmine?

So neurotoxicity sounds like a pretty bad side effect ay?
It would be like doing an opiate with all the bad stuff Crystal meth has to offer. Am I right?

well, no one knows really.
I dont think alot of people are doing this compound.
it sounds like its a metabolite product from the comsumption of the one pharmaceutical compound pulled from the calabar bean.
I think eseroline is an alkaloid...but maybe I am wrong.
I pretty much meant that eseroline could be produced by someone with the knowhow perhaps out of the standard pharmaceutical substance.
but it would probably be a big hassle for little pay off.
and even then, you have eseroline's toxicity to deal with, if that would really be an issue or not, I dont know.
I know that it seems some people that consume a certian analgesic leaf in certian parts of the world get neurodegenerative effects from the consumption scientists think.
its annona leaf, or graviola.
it is used medicinally....and I dont think its really that toxic...but it seems to certian people, its not a good plant to consume regularly.
for research purposes, sure, I would try it. its listed as a minor narcotic after all.
so if someone came up with eseroline...I might consider it. but I surely wouldnt want to depend on it.
analog research could be worthwhile...but even then you have the chance of creating some unknown toxic reaction.
I guess thats part of what makes it exciting to try new things
