I'm sitting here starting this thread 30 minutes after snorting about 3mg of suboxone. I'm caked in sweat, cold and shivering, feeling generally pretty shitty, hoping I'll get that usual glow on sometime soon. See I've pushed my luck once again, thinking I'd have just enough bupe in my system to jump back on it after my wasted weekend. Like I've read, it does seem to get harder every time.

Has anyone else have similar experiences to this? How bad can it get? I think I've narrowly avoided catastrophe this time...

How long did you wait? I've gone as short as 7hrs and never had any ill effects...sorry to hear it :(

^^ I didn't really, recently I've been giong from thursday to sunday on like .5-1mg/day of subs while taking full agonists. This time I skipped saturday (~100mg oxy plus pst) and had about 1mg yesterday. It was the 3mg up the nose today that pushed me over the edge. But recently I've been finding that any amount of bupe up the nose will give me some sweats.

Edit: forgot to mention, had an oc40 this morning, about 9 hours before the 3mg sub

Too late for another edit but I'm feeling good again, not much of a buzz but just feeling good is enough for me!

IME the more often I switched between Bupe and my DOC the harder it got. Once I put myself in PW it seemed to happen everytime. No matter how long I waited, I would get at least a little sick. IME PW last about 1 to 2 hours and then fade once the Bupe settles into your receptors.

I've tried subs once. A friend gave me a few and I was going to stop oxy for a few days to get tolerance down. Anyway I waited 20 hrs between oxy and taking a sub. In the morning I took a quarter of a sub. Immediatly got sick as hell. 2 more mgs under the tongue = even sicker, sweats shivering puking uncontrolable yawning, it was terrible. waited an hour 2 more mgs. After that I felt normal not sick not high not good. After that I gave away the rest of my subs. Later that day I copped some oxy and the subs didn't block the oxy. Weird shit man, I dont see how anyone can take them unless its just me?

^^ I know what you are saying oxyjon. Once I had one bad experience with Subs it seemed like everytime I tried to switch I got ill. I gave up on Subs a while ago. They suck for people with chronic pain and never helped control my cravings. Of course now I make my meds last so no need for switching back and forth. Fuck Suboxone!!

About a month ago my tolerance was so bad that no ammount of bupe cured my withdrawals.
It seemed to just make me sicker, and then even prevent me from getting well by blocking my DOC!

It was hell! It lasted about 3-4 days, and then I finally couldn't take it anymore and went back to heroin.

But yeah...for me, every time I switch back and forth it gets worse and worse...and the higher your tolerance is to your DOC, the harder the switch to sub is going to be.

Damn seedy, it seems as though you did everything right and still got sick! 3mg is a good starting dose of bupe..

Bottom line is I think that there is much about the way buprenorphine works and how affects people so differently that isn't known by the people in charge.

This is soooooo true. Bupe is a strange drug and there is alot of misinformation out there about it too. There is not much info on long term affects either.

I'm sure there are posts here from years ago by me that say how easy it was for me to switch back and forth.
Not so much anymore. No matter how long I wait I always end up with at least one day of sweats and chill, restless legs, general discomfort, dysphoria and insomnia.
On a good switch back this lasts one day then I fall asleep around 6-8am that morning and wake up in the afternoon feeling, for the most part, fine.
Perfect example is today. Yesterday was spent on the couch pining away between moments of temporary comfort. Though I had a stockpile of xanyx and ativan and even some kpins left. Plus some good heady nugs. So wasn't the worst I've had that's for sure.
Today. I woke up around ....well an hour ago 3pm because of the benzo's and now I'm fine.
Sometimes though. The switch three days of mild agony. Mild Agony....funny phrase isn't it?

Before I understood that Suboxone could cause precipitated withdrawals, I accidentally made myself really sick, and only later found out why.

I had been smoking heroin (black tar) all weekend, and after we ran out, after 2 days of non-stop smoking, I took and 8 mg Suboxone, and became violently sick. I had to drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles, sick as fuck, clammy and sweaty, throwing up in a plastic bag. It fuckin' sucked, and i didn't know why I was so sick.

Of course now I realize I should have waited a few days for the H to clear out of my system.

How long was it before you took your subs after smoking H?

A good friend of mine frequently takes opiates in the morning and then subs in the evening, 6-8hrs later and had never even heard of or experienced precipitated withdrawl..and I frequently take DOC at 11PM-1AM and take sub the next morning around 8AM...never had PW.

I was smoking H all night, then woke up at like 9 to drive down to LA, popped a sub under my tongue for the ride, big mistake.

so maybe like 8-10 hours

That will all change if you do get PW from it; and the more often you switch then more likely that is. It gets harder and harder everytime. I used to be the same way until one time I put myself into PW one time, ever since that it didn't matter how long I waited to take the Bupe, I would feel shitty for 2 hours after taking a Sub; I'm talking full blown w/d puking, shitting, sweating, chills, yawning, watery eyes, stretching then the rest of the day hot cold flashes and achey legs. I've waited as long as 24 hours and still got ill after taking Bupe. I hate Bupe now because of this. It doesn't seem to work at all for me. I just make damn sure I don't run out of my meds now! Fuck Suboxone!

Well i had the fucking shit scared out of me today , I ve been and addict and pain patient most recently, i was a drug counslor for a while but it was too hypacriteal (sp)and ive really tryed to lower the amout of meds I am on. i have cut back on ocs , didladid, methadone and when from 20+ 10 mg methdone daily and bought it slowly down to 2 to 4 a day! a mircule if you knew me, but i was getting tired and so i was going to "kick" and did a subox and was reading this very forum this a.m. and all of a sudden i /was frozen. .I mean froz, i got up from the computer and pow, all of a sudden i was thown into the worst w/d i have ever had. it was so fucked up. the infor i had got was you can take them and if you come of them slow enuff the you dont even notice any bad stuff. but i bounded off the walls , dry heaved , froze, jumped etc. it was not good but i took more methadone which may have may it worse. but i didn't know , then i tried a snort that my husband got to gether of oc and dudlaund, but i took 4 or so knonipin
and a fexerol and started to feel much better.I wast amazed and i had no idaia that this was going to happen to me. and it was so intenst, but as soon as i got some friends, and they gave me some info. and i went to bed just wher i wanted to go. Man it was scarie. i was lucky and had some klonipin that i took about 5 and found some more stuff that headed the worst of it all. so thank God . i hope the fuck that never happen and I wll be more careful.
God bless us all, and you 2. i hope all goes well. Peace

Recently my hospital admitted a person who had been 36 hours from their last shot of H. Habit was between7-10bags/day. At 36 hours the person was given 4 mg Suboxone (about 11 am) I arrived at 3 pm & found the person writhing in precipitated WD's. I promptly made sure the person got as much comfort meds as I could give him/her as often as possible. By 1100pm the person was able to rest with a boatload of Ativan, loperamide and clonidine on board. They started tramadol that night too, and the next day the person was actually able to get up and eat and shower.
I felt so badly for that person. I wanted to just sit there and say "I know, I know". I was rewarded big time 2 days later by that person telling me I was the kindest nurse he/she met in the hospital. gave me a nice glow.

Damn, wish I had you as a nurse when I went to detox back a few years ago.
They treated me like I was gum stuck on the bottom of their shoes.

Thanks Ryan :)
When I detoxed - at this very same hospital 10 years ago - most of the nurses were very nice but very stingy on the comfort meds. There was one nurse tho, who just hated me for being a junky nurse. She never said anything reportable but she made it non verbally crystal clear that I was dogshit on the bottom of her shoe. I felt anxious every time she was on. It was an interesting learning experience that I remember so I give better care these days.....
