Clue: 9 is the magic number...

Thanks for this link, I've really enjoyed it. Due to my sad boring life it brightened up an otherwise dull saturday night. As a thick person who can't do maths to save her life it seems like magic to me!!! Even with Insanesteveo's explanation as to how it works I still don't understand it so I guess it will always seem like magic to me!!! I can't wait for my boys to get in to show them!!

Hey Poppy, look at the grid more carefully. Notice every 9 and multiple, ie. 9 x2 =18, 9 x 3 =27, 9 x 4 = 36, etc. always have the same letter... look up the grid at all those multiples. All are "o" one time, 'next' game all are "x," again all are "z"... so no matter which multiple you pick, since they are all the same on that particular game (say game #2 all multiples of 9 will be the letter "Q," the game will "seem" to read your thoughts and say "Q." Game #3 all 9 mulitples are "S," so again, it's easy to be tricked into thinking "Wow, each time I pick a new multiple and somehow it still knows. It just picked my S!" Just try it, checking 1st and you'll see what I mean.

Cheers Karen, I've finally, actually got it!!!! I'm sad its not magic LOL but the fact I can actually understand how it works almost makes up for it!! I feel really pleased with myself, like when you're a kid and finally get the hand of fractions/algebra or whatever.
