Actually, I am kidding--with all the hectic crap I've got going on in my life the next month or so (moving, have drummer auditions twice a week for the next 3, all kinds of stuff)--I would have to respectfully decline.

Actually, Karen360 would be awesome, too. She's very intelligent, has just the right amount of humor, and sems knwowledgable. But I know she's also a mommy, so that might take a lot of her time...

true i think he only has daytime acsess, dont see him on allot on weekends, or nights. But that might work around the other mods schedules also. I am sure someone with very high activity, could also be one also so there is always a mod around...Exit is doing a very good job also.

I too would "second" the nomination on Karen360. Although I am reletively new I have been active daily. That being said... Karen is the only one that I have really seen that I would think has the qualifications or I would say "assets" to do the job effectively and fairly. As for the others who I have not nominated, just means I have not had enough contact with them thru the active threads in order to pass judgement. Nothing against anyone. BUt Karens comments that I have seen have all been very intelligent, well written, as well as putting forth a fair-objective point of view.

I just recently heard that EW was just either made a mod or is about to become a mod. Either way.. he has the right stuff also and if he has not become one yet, would make a good one for all the same reasons that I have pointed out above about Karen360.

And those who've been mentioned in this thread that don't wanna do it should make it clear in this thread that they don't.

I, for one, have said I don't think I'd be able to give it the level of attention that the position warrants (if I'm even being considered, I don't wanna seem presumptuous here).

I'm actually still unclear what a mod's duties are, other than warning people when they violate the rules, and moving threads to the proper forums when newbies ask about what gauge needles to use in the Papaver Somniferum forum and whatnot.

That is a GREAT list... excluding me. Thank you though Reddragon, Coddfish, ZK, Vanilla, and ssj (wow, can I hire you guys if I ever need a resume?!!). I'm very honored, but as ZK pointed out, I am a mommie and afraid I wouldn't have the time commitment to do the position justice. But, as always, (like Codd) I'd be happy to help with "extra stuff," if needed... And yes, definitely add Skeletontea to the list, please.

All those nominated have a lot of experience and would be great.... if we knew what exactly they were suppose to be doing....... Oh Biiii1111111iiiiii?

This is a note to Bi11i really: I'd just like you to know that I would very much like to be a contributing moderator to this splendid forum, but that apart from not being able to nominate myself, my four children and disabled wife are sufficiently taxing on my time that there's no way I could do it - and it would piss them off if I spent any more time on the 'puter.
I don't want to just be someone who uses the forum and rarely contributes, so when people start paying me (I've just gone from employed to freelance and I'm currently in the extended monetary vacuum that this invariably causes) I would at least like to make a financial contribution to show my gratitude for the stonking job you and your pals do.

2. If it was for moving threads and advising on forum etiquette... Ant/Opi with their sense of humor... may not kill the offender.

3. Quelling riots before it becomes all out war... Shaunclo...as well, as for sage advice... he's good-hearted, very helpful, sincere, funny and also has ungodly amount of patience and empathy. Plus, he's got 68.5 zillion posts, I think.

**The present mods do a FANTASTIC job, too; Candy, EW, Bi11i, Jacky (...or does Jacky just do research, in addition to co-founding this awesome site and answering all kinds of questions?) Anyway, big huge THANK YOUs to all of you for the great jobs you do here.

(The names I left out have already indicated they cannot serve.... and any other helpful, wise o-philes I left out.... I'm really sorry.) That's my little contribution.

Sorry to be so late in getting back on this. So a mod would basically do the following (I think we'd be good with at least two.)1. Organize the board - move posts to where they belong.
2. Help out the newbs (or boot em, if necessary.)
3. Delete redundant crap and watch for Spam.
4. Possibly help poor bi11i to come up with front page articles and make them happen.
5. Act as a mediator.
6. Clean shit up. This place is a fucking mess. Jesus.
7. Edit posts that need to be (meaning merging double-posts or removing unwanted crap.)
8. Help out poor Exitwound. The guy is overworked and underpaid. (Shit, did I sent him out his shirt?)

Really, that's it. To be honest, if you're a regular reader to the board, it takes about an extra 5 minutes. You simply use the existing tools in place to make changes. When I see a thread called "Where can I find pods" located in "How Do I?", I can just click 'Thread Tools' and then 'Move Thread' - that's it. Nothing too hard. With 2-4 people working, I think we'd see a significant improvement.

The main thing is that I do NOT want us to become a board with an elitist rep. This shit bugs me to no end. The most significant thing about Opiophile.org is the free and friendly exchange of relevant and focused information. If we need to make more personal forums, I'm all for it. If we need to get a few items in place to make the board more 'sociable', I'm all for that, too.

Regardless, Jacky and I set out from the beginning in making this what some of the others weren't (meaning closed to the public or open only to certain individuals.) I'd hate to start doing this, but I'm starting to understand why some boards have. Let's make this our goal; to keep the information flowing and the board open to everyone. It's important to be patient with the newbs and especially friendly. It's also important to keep our BS tolerance down to an absolute minimum.

What I'd like to have are two folks that can be fair, are patient, willing to login at least 2-3 a week and check things out, possibly receive email notifications about posts to certain boards. We do have moderators in other places, however they're more or less 'Consultants' and not here to assist in organizing the forums. While they do have that power, they're on as mods because they possess a specific skill or trait that makes them worthy as such (not that the rest of you don't, but Candy for instance is a nurse and a highly skilled one at that - a serious asset to the board.)

Anyway, that's my little rant on mods and who/what we need. I'll go through the list and see who's at the top. I'll put a poll in place of those that have been nominated more than once and then we'll see who gets what number in votes. Once the poll is over, I'll contact those at the top and see if they're interested.

This ok with everyone? Should we make any changes to this process?

I think there are really good people on this site, in fact if your a member here, YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO GO TO ANY OTHER SITES!!!! Just kidding, you guys can do what you want. I think every one of those names that came up would be great Mods. I would be so honored to have that title, but just cant right now cause I know I would be spending more time than I already do.
