How connected are hospitals? If my friend's doctor is at another hospital in town, if I take him to the ER at another hospital in town and he doesn't receive prescription, will the doc know? I'm pretty sure my friend is going to need an IV, but we're worried the nurse/doc will see his track marks. We could make one up, but we're sure they've heard them all.

This wouldn't normally be a problem, but my friend is prescribed 90ng morphine. He's really worried that they will take his pain meds away which would leave him in pain and dealing with a horrible withdrawal.

What do hospitals share with each other?

What I do when my tracks are real bad and I have to go to the hospital is ask whoever puts the I.V. in to please put it in my hand.It usually works and I dont have a problem. And if your friend is just going to the hospital for the I.V. meds and really isnt worried about getting any scripts they prescribe him there I have heard that some people use a different name.Although this is illegal and I would never suggest for anybody to do it,I have heard that it works.

You'd be surprised how many situations using an alias (fake name) is actually legal in. But unless you're paying in cash, for yourself, it could be considered frauding....somebody.

Anyways, i sure hope when you say "I think my friend is going to need an IV" that he just wants intravenous drugs, and isn't, like, bleeding out all over the fucking place. Cause if that's the case, losing your scripts is the last thing you should be thinking about.

But to answer your question, if they're a different hospital, they need your permission to transfer medical records. Nobody but THAT hospital will know anything they find out about you.

Hospitals can only legally share what you sign permission for them to share.
I'm confused by your question though. What's wrong with your friend?
ER nurses see tracks all the time and the good ones will ask where's the best place for me to get an IV/draw blood.
But if your friend is ill enough that you think he needs an IV you need to get off the computer & take him to A hospital.
