Im just going to post lyrics to a song here that are, from what I can tell so far, a dialogue on the culture of drugs. I hate doing this kind of stuff normally because there's always the chance that the recipient wont like it. Therefore I have wasted your time. I hope this isnt one of those cases.
Rarely do I get to a point with written word, be it song lyrics, books, poems, ancient texts etc., were I feel I am getting the concept in my own way... fully. I'll get parts and be satified with that but feel like I'm missing something. I found a meaning to these lyrics that I'm 75% satisfied with and would like to get other interpertations.
THE POT
Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been out your head!
Eye hole deep in Muddy Waters
You practically raised the dead
Rob the grave to snow the cradle
And burn the evidence down
Soapbox house of cards and glass
so don't go tossin' your stones around
You must have been high.
You must have been high.
You must have been...
Foot in mouth and head up asshole
what’cha talkin’ bout?
Difficult to dance ‘round this one ‘Til pull it out, boy
You must have been so high
You must have been so high
Stay all by your reefer savior
Shady inference
Kangaroo done hung the juror
with the innocent
Now you weep all shades of chosen indigo.
Gotta lemon juice up in your eye.
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been high, high
You must have been high, high
Who are you to wave your finger?
So full of it.
Eyeballs deep in Muddy Waters
Fuckin’ hypocrite.
You’re a liar, lawyer, mirror show me what’s the difference.
Changed the rules and hung the guilty with the innocent.
Now, you weep all shades of chosen indigo.
gotta lemon juice up in your eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been…
Who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your fatty fingers at me?
You must have been out ‘cho mind…
weep all shades of indigo.
trapped without a reason.
weep all shades of indigo.
Liar, lawyer, mirror for you. What’s the difference?
Kangaroo be stoned, he's guilty as the government.
Now, will you weep all shades of chosen indigo and a fool got lemon
juice up in your high, eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been… high, high, high, high
Eyeballs deep in Muddy Waters
You’re both deep in Muddy Waters
Caught up with lies
you must have been out 'cho mind!
I feel like he's commenting on the dichotomy of whats inherant in controlling the use of substances in a civilazation. As far as how both sides blindly interact with each other and need each other to survive.
I think the Kangaroo is the "authority" in this case. Who gives birth to, nourishes and carries with it the guilty. But the Kangaroo needs what it created for there is no greater neccessity than that of procreation. It fullfills the authorities. Without "Liars Lawyers" they would cease to exist or in other words lose control.
"Your're both deep in muddy waters"
We are hypocrites to judge the authorites when they are caught in the act and so are they for not practicing what they preached. Damned if we do Damned if we dont.
"Weep in shades of indigo" "Pissed all over my black kettle" The black robes of the courts mix with the blue collars of the "Liars" would make a color close to indigo right?
We're all "caught up with lies" and its getting harder and harder to remember who started this whole thing and why.
