View Full Version : I just can't win these days..
Okay, so my doc gave me a script for my normal sub #45 8mg on the 16th. I dropped it off like I normally do. Unfortunately, I have a crap insurance company that requires I get a prior authorization every 3 months. That means they have to fax my doctor some garbage, and he has to fax them back. For fucking suboxone. IT's a pain in the ass.
Anyways -- they called me back at the end of the day (I had dropped it off in the AM) and said they haven't heard anything back from the insurance company, so they can't fill it. I said fine, I'll pay cash for 6 of them then. I've done this before. Normally it takes 2-3 days for the PA to go thru and then once it does, I get my cash back, minus the copay (30 bucks).
This time, the next week tuesday, I called in and they said it still had not gone thru. I was pissed. I called my doc, he's out of town. So, I had to pay out of pocket for 6 more pills. Fucking pain.
I waited for my doc to get back, and I went over there myself, and had him call the insurance company.
Turns out he DID submit it before he went out of town, but the insurance company had my ID# wrong.
So anyways, it finally goes thru, but this time rite aid refuses to give me the 70$ back that they owe me (the 100$ i paid for 12 pills out of pocket, minus the 30$ co-pay).
They've done this before, but the girl at the pharmacy says they can't do it this time, cause they didn't "back-date" the PA. I FUCKING HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES. What should I do? Should I call my insurance company AGAIN and complain?

Welp, I called my insurance company.
I actually got them to change the date on the authorization.
Called rite aid back -- they still refuse to pay.
They say they can't reverse the claims. They can give me the receipts and I have to now take it up with my insurance company to get the money back. What a joke. I was really looking forward to getting some dope with that 70$ too. Now I'm broke till friday.
Someone's taking a giant shit on my head lately, I swear. Just a lot of bad stuff happening lately. Oh yeah and my bank account is like -600$ so when I *do* get paid, I'm only gonna see like 200$. So yeah, 70$ is a big deal.
Man I Can't wait for my tax refund. I'm getting around 3 grand in about a week or so.
That will make everything all better, but the waiting is the hardest part :-)
EDIT: oh and yeah, our countries health care is so messed up. Frankly I don't even see why suboxone isn't OTC.
Just make it like sudafed...Need to be over 18, and have a license and sign some paper saying whatever unlce sam wants you to.

I totally hear ya on the bank being $600.00 in the hole. I hate when that happens. Then it seems like you're still broke until next payday, even if you've just gotten paid. I would definetley get the ins. co to pay you back. Good Luck
Edit:Have you ever called your bank and asked them to remove some of the overdraft charges? We had 3 overdrafts last months @ $33.00 each,so my husband called and they took off 2 of the charges "Just this one time",,,,but hey, that was $66.00 thats we really needed.

Yeah I've done that before. Problem is I do this way too often. Yeah It's my fault..no one else to blame.
With my bank, even if I have no money in my account, (even if it's like -200), If I go to an ATM with my card, it'll pop out whatever I want, along with a 37 dollar fee every time. Being the junkie that I am, you can imagine how often this happens (being -600). Eventually when I hit like -500 or -600 it will stop giving me money and spit my card back out. I Could just imagine how much debt I would have racked up if it *didn't* stop here.
They were cool about it the first few times, but now I don't even dare contact them.

Do you think you will have any issue's getting your insurance to refund you your money? I know it sucks to have to wait and even worse when you had plans for that money but I hope you do get refunded.
I had no idea subs cost that much!
I think many people have been stuck in a shit hole lately. I try to keep a good humor about it but there's nothing funny about smelling like shit.
Hope things get better quickly!

LOL, thanks for that, made me laugh. Anyways, yeah they will refund it no doubt, but the problem is time. I bet it will be 3 months before I get a check. I just don't see why riteaid are being such pricks.
First, the lady tells me that the reason why they can't refund is the date on the PA.
Then, I specially called the insurance company, explained to them that if they could change the date, that would be swell...and OMG -- they did!
Then I call back and rite aid says well even though the date is changed, they still cannot reverse the claims.
Bunch of pricks I say!!!
I guess I will pop my suboxone because there's no hope of getting any Diesel today. I'm lookin on the bright side tho. Maybe in a few months, when I'm down and out and I have forgotten about this, and I really need the 70 bucks, I'll finally get the check..and it will come as a surprise and I'll have a really good day then :)

I know what you mean about the bank giving you money that you don't have and then charging an overdraft. Such thieves. This kept happening to my son so he went inside the bank and told them he didn't want to be able to get out $$$ if it wasn't in his account. So they did something on the computer and now the ATM will deny him if there is no moolah! I think it's an option that a lot of people don't realize they have.

Yeah, I guess if I was a responsible person I would probably do something like that.
That's a huge IF though :).

I TOTALLY feel your pain.
Last month, I had a huge fire (on Christmas morning, nonetheless), and while I was in the ambulance, the police went into my place and took every single one of my medications.
Since it was the holidays, all of my doctors were out of town. I finally got a hold of one of them and he told me to go to the ER immediately and get my meds re-prescribed. So I go there, and my doctor had even called and spoken to the ER doc, and he STILL wouldn't prescribe my meds! He gave me 20 30mg oxycodone (which lasted me all of a day) and told me to go to the police station on Monday (which was 3 days later) and make them give me the medications back.
So on top of dealing with having major burns and smoke inhalation, I had to go through withdrawals. Then, I show up at the PD and they put me in a room and interrogated me for 4 hours. They refused to give anything back, even my non-narcotics, and called my doctors to tell them that they thought I was an addict and that I had illegally obtained my meds (not true, my doctors knew this obviously). Then I had to wait another 2 days to go to the doctor. It was fucking ridiculous. Finally, I get my prescriptions, and the insurance would not pay for them!!! They said they wouldn't pay for lost or stolen prescriptions, even though it was the POLICE who stole them! I was SO upset. I ended up having to pay 1200 dollars out of pocket, and losing my primary care physician because he didn't want to deal with the police (which I do understand, but what the hell was I supposed to do??).
Merry fucking Christmas, huh?
Anyways, insurance is a bitch in this country. I can't believe the shit that they have put people through! I'm really sorry to hear that it has happened to you too, ryan. :( Best of luck dear.

I had something similar to this happen to me, I had just got an rx 100 something percs and almost 200 .5 xanax, That night I took a little extra xanax and my dad took me to the ER, Even though it absolutely was uncalled for. They told him to go back to the house and bring the meds. They kept me overnight because they thought I had tried to kill myself or some bullshit ( I only took like 60-70mgs of oxy and 5-6mgs of xanax). I left the next day, They refused to give back the fuckin meds, told me to goto the ER If I was in pain or whatever, I went and they gave me 3 percocets. Long story short I was out of meds for 29 days I was so pissed

Jesus, that's one hell of a tollerance. 600mg of oxy per day? wow...I don't think I've *ever* been that bad.
Although I'm probably mis-judging because I switched over to sweet lady H long before my tolerance to oxy was out of control...
That had to have been so bad...going thru wd's, and the fire...wow
They still won't give you back the meds? I don't understand. If it has your name on the god damn bottle, then how can it be stolen?

Yeah unfortunately my tolerance is really high. I am on actually about 1000/1200mg per day...and yeah, the withdrawals are BAD.
And nope, they still have the meds. My doctors and I are very confused as to why they will not give me back medication that has my name on it, was legally obtained, etc. I am considering getting a lawyer...I have talked to one and he said it's a pretty open and shut case; there is no reason for them to have confiscated it and not given it back to me. Shit, they even took my aspirin and tums!! Fucking police.
When I was being interrogated, one of the cops actually said, "you know, oxycontin, fentanyl, all of this stuff is the same thing as heroin! The only difference is the amount of aspirin in it." I wanted to either laugh or punch him in the face. WTF? The amount of aspirin? Really? Dumbass.

1200mg of oxycodone per day? Holy Jeebus.
I have to stop myself from drooling here, sorry.
What is it prescribed for, if you don't mind me asking?
Also yeah, that's completely illegal what they did. Number one, they need a search warrant to enter your house and to confiscate anything right? Or can they just have "probable cause" or whatever -- but even so, I think that only qualifies to items that are in plain sight. Were the meds in a cabinet or something or were they out in the open?
Also, why were the police called? Who started the fire, etc.?
