hey i dont know if this is the right place for this or if theres already a thread for this so sorry in advance..
i've noticed that with the flowers in full bloom around town that there are lots of california poppies but it seems there are tons of somni poppies as well... at a shopping center near my house there must be 200 red, pink, and white opium poppies... also at the winery i work at there are some.
well i dont want to risk doing anything with the ones at work but what would some of you suggest i do about the ones at this busy shopping center... go admire them at night when the pods have developed and stuff some in my pockets? any ideas?

get a garbage bag and scoop the ones at the shopping center but here's what I would do with that. I wouldnt go at night per se, it looks really fishy and it's likely that the place has security. I would scope the field for a few days, also waiting and watching for the petals to fall off the flowers. Two weeks after this happens, it's time to get the pods. Watch the feild at night from a removed and secluded place if possible. See if you notice any patterns like a cop car roll by or security patrol. If it looks cool, maybe go at night but still, it's risky. I would go right after dawn, when the traffic starts to pick up and I would go in clothes that look like you're a hired landscaper or maintenance worker doing their job. That way, passers by will continue to pass by and if someone official happens to see you, at least you've got a chance they'll think you're supposed to be there. Work quickly but with intention, like you belong there. Don't look like you're trying to hide. And, if you get caught, have your story prepped... the best lies are those that you have convinced yourself are true! Finally, remember, you're just stealing flowers... you didn't know what kind. You thought they looked nice and would be a great addition to your dried floral crafts you're working on at home. DO NOT LANCE THEM IN THE FEILD!! Just yank or cut, bag and go.
after you're done... send them to me!:D
good luck and enjoy.

haha the idea bout dressin up like a landscaper is good, dont know if i wanna get that involved tho... i'm thinkin that i'll check out what size the pods are and if they're small, maybe it wont be worth it cause it'll take too much time to get a good amount, but if they're large maybe go a few nights in a row and grab 10 a night... maybe not more than 1 or 2 nights tho cause if somebody notices them dissapearing they'll watch for shit going down.. i dunno... anybody live near santa barbara and wanna split these with me?

This reminds me of last summer when I raided a huge field of somniferum at night, and came away with two trashcan bags bulging with them. Most exciting, but they quickly went mouldy and I had to throw most of them away - so watch out for that.
Also, scour every inch - up and down - of that sahopping centre, especially along the eves and on lighting towers, for infrared lights and cameras, and if they're pointing in the direction of the pods, you're probably better off casually sauntering through the growth during the daytime, surreptitiously picking and putting in your pockets - it'll attract less attention. Take the dog or a kid with you....
