Thought it would fun to list what concerts people have been to. I'm going to post the question first and then give my reply later. I've been to so many shows that it may take me awhile to organize in my head. I will share that my very first concert was Wang Chung. My second concert was supposed to be the Beastie Boys during the first major tour (following License to Ill) but all the bad publicity about the show made the parents of the girl who was driving me forbid her from going. I'm still mad about that!

I've been going to hardcore shows since I was 13 years old. People laugh when they hear Connecticut and Hardcore in the same grouping, but believe me, there is a huge scene here. I'm not going to count those shows, there has probably been easily a hundred bands I have seen. Ok, so here's a list of headliners I have seen
Marilyn Manson
Tom Petty
Doobie Brothers
Max Creek
Primus
Frog Brigade (love love LOVE Les Claypool)
Godsmack
Linkin Park
Insane Clown Posse (I know, I'm ashamed too)
Sevendust
Dr Dre
Ice Cube
Method Man/Redman
Incubus (in 3 different states)
Deftones
Chevelle
Sigur Ros (fucking amazing)
Jimmie's Chicken Shack (15 times FUCK YEAH!!)
Disturbed

Taproot
6Gig
Slipknot (gross)
Phish
Nine Inch Nails/David Bowie
Tool a few times
Ozzy too many times
Metallica
Stone Temple Pilots
Live
Rush
There's more that I just can't think of right now. Nice to see someone else knows who the hell G Love and Special Sauce are
EDIT: Can't forget the festivals...Falcon Ridge, Rolling Rock Town Fair, bunch of Ozzfests, Woodstock 99, a couple Lolapalooza's

Ok.. ok... let me try and remember...
Most of these were when I was a teenager so um yeah... I don't remember much..
Danzing, Marilyn Manson and Korn (yeah they actually toured together)
I also remember a band the genatorchers (sp?) they did some wild ass shit on stage. I also got hit by a whip that night (was not on purpose).
I saw a ton of punk bands but I can't recall any of the names.
oh and um Lalapoloza? I remember seeing a bunch of bands there I want to say this was in 1993.
I missed the concert to see Nirvana they were touring with someone else I said I would see him next time he made it to my town! Ugh.. :(
I'm sure there are others but I'm the worst at remembering names.
Wait... Wait... I remember another one too.... something along the line of nine westward? westward nine? eh somethin like that. They had I think one popular Song. I remember being drunk and trying to stand up and play a game of pool. Some how I made it home...
This is really bad I don't remember jack shit only bits and pieces and I swear I did not take that many hits of LSD growing up... I took a few to many.. but still!

Hubby is a musian and flows towards blues and now he's got me into it to. Every year in May the Doheney Beach Blues Festival comes to town and is a BLAST. 2 days music at the beach 3 different stages, cool little booths of handmade jewelry, shirts etc. TONS of alcohol. So much fun. We reserve our hotel room the year before and start saving for tickets in January. We go both days and do the VIP thing,it's our big splurge of the year. I always make sure I'm fully opio-stocked. Yeah,so if any of you guys live down SoCal way and like blues music, give it a try. Al Green headlined one year he gives an awesome show,Um..Ella Fitzgerald one year, beautiful. I can't remember last years headliner...she's the chick with the long red hair with a streak in the front..ghrrr..can't remember. My personal fav is Tommy Castro. You have to picture this on the beach under the clear starry skies compleltley opaiated. ahhhh...I can't wait.Only 3 more months.
Sorry to go off on a tangent....yeah,I guess we go blues.Sorry, showing my age???
The best concert I ever went to was a band called The Apex Theory back in like 2002...
I was sober (I think...maybe weed, can't remember) but what I do remember was the energy of the show was so god damned fantasic I couldn't believe it.
They were like a mix between hard rock and armenian techno / folk / electronic and were so unique.
They are still around today even tho their singer quit, they are called Mount Helium if anyone is interested.
Their old singer used to be the drummer in SOAD, but then he quit and they changed their name and now the guitar player is the singer..still very unique, awesome sounding band.

Shit- I'll have to go thru my stubs and put together my list... but the most recent was Joe Satriani/Eric Johnson/Stevie Vai... AWSOME is the only word to describe it. The three of them together? I saw them in a small setting, an "in the round" theatre, so every seat was the best in the house. Actually got Joe to sign my friends arm, and my ex inked it in later. She loves it!
I also saw Journey in 82, and partied with them after... my cousin was a roadie for them... good times!

Wow...of very jealous of some of you guys with the long lists!
Mine is pretty short (my list!) but I've had a blast at every one of them...
The Dead(Willie Nelson opened)
Rush
Willie Nelson/Bob Dylan
Waylon Jennings
Hank Williams, Jr.
The Moody Blues
Charlie Pride/Earl Thomas Conley
Farm Aid (Mellancamp, Neil Young, Willie, Dave Matthews, Kid Rock and Toby Keith, among others)
Dave Matthews Band (over 20 times...I'm not sure how many exactly)
Back in the day I liked country so there are probably a few other 'ol country boys that I just forgot. They were probably forgetable.
My first wife loved going to shows, but my second wife has never been to a concert! Ever! She likes the Eagles...I wouldn't mind taking her to a show if they ever come around again and I have money. I'm sure she would go to any show I can drag her to though.
I'd like to see DMB again, of course, but I'm sure which direction the band will go now that Leroi Moore has passed away.
I'd also love to see Phish once before I die. And the Boss. Does Phish still tour?
:music1:
I'd also pay real American money to see Neil Young again....and Willie....

good fucking luck getting tix to see phish in hampton. they had a raffle. you enter using a mailing address. my husband and a shit-ton of friends all entered using numerous addresses of friends & relatives. NONE of them got tickets. i'm sure you can buy them online, ebay or craigslist, but you'll pay out the ass.
i've seen lots of shows, but don't really feel like listing all of them. laziness. i will say that i saw long beach dub allstars and was invited back to the tourbus. oohlala. got high w/ them. it was pretty cool, but it would've been WAY cooler if bradley was still alive. i'm pretty sure i would've turned into a whore for him that night.

Jeez...don't start that rumor around here, I'll be getting nasty emails all night.

Don't worry...I knew you were playing around. So was I.
One day, in another thread, I'll tell you an interesting wife-beating story. I wasn't the beater but the beatee once was my wife...
It really is quite amusing. I laughed anyway. Remind me some day!

I've never been to a "traditional" concert, like at an arena or whatever. From ages 19-21 I went to a lot of raves. I could list party names, but I couldn't list any of the minor DJ's who performed. I know I saw DJ Irene, The Orb, DJ Micro, and Sasha, but that's just b/c they are / were major artists and I remember. Other than that, I don't remember.
I've also been to the symphony and ballet several times, but you all probably don't want to hear about that.
I would like to see Crystal Castles live. A fairly new group from the UK whose technical description I think would be thrash. But, like that's ever going to happen. I just don't get out a lot.

I was at a rave one weekend, and I told Spacegirl I wanted to put my head between her legs. She slapped me and started swearing at me in Russian. It was awesome. Ahh, the good ole days of rolling for three days straight. I'm so glad those are behind me.

It's interesting, but I don't think everyone would like it. I used to go to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker a lot when I was a kid. And I've seen Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. That's it I think. My oldest sister got her BA from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music for piano, then decided to get her Master's in social work. I know, very odd. She's always sort of been a flibbertygibit. Since I was a kid when she was in college, she and my mom and I would go to the Nutcracker almost every Christmas when I was a kid. The ballet is really just a symphony set to dance. It's interesting I think. I've not gone in years though. The Nutcracker was fun though, especially for a kid, because it's so child-like. I liked the music to Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet more than I like Tchaikovsky's version, but I've never seen it in ballet form, only heard the music, so I couldn't say if I'd like that ballet more. I probably wouldn't since I don't like that music as much.
Edit:
Runormal: Yeah, my friend in real life told me about them back in early 2008 right after their demo came out. I don't know how she found out about them. I particularly like "Crimewave," "Courtship Dating," "Alice Practice," "Mother Knows Best," "Vanished," and "Knights." It's kind of like punk techno. Like, some songs are more electronic based, and others are more punk I think. Alice Practice and Mother Knows Best I think are more punk-like.

You should go see Cats. It's great. They do that at the Arnoff Center every so often, and it's great. They have this huge chandelier as a prop that comes crashing down in the beginning. You'd also like Sweeny Todd probably. It's very dark. Blue Man Group came to my college my senior year, but I didn't go see it. Playhouse in the Park in Eden Park in Cincinnati did a play set to Ovid's Metamorphoses that I saw senior year in college. It was great.

I'm jealous!... Ok... Now I have to make some adjustment to my bucket list.
I didn't even occur to me to go see Sweeny Todd, I think I could even convince my husband to go with me to that one. We both enjoyed the movie but getting him to go to a play takes more effort on my part. They have this playhouse dinner theater here where you play along while your eating to guess who murdered who. I was curious about that and well I'm still waiting maybe I'm not trying hard enough on my end.

Yeah, I think you'd like Sweeny Todd. Word of advice though, some productions get very life-like with the blood. So, if you set in the front row, be prepared to be splattered with fake blood when they have the throat-slashing barber shop scenes.

- can somebody please tell me how to quote somebody with the blue box? Sorry

If you want to quote one person, you hit the quot box on the lower right side of the person's post. If you want to quote multiple people (I think you can do up to five), you hit the little icon beside it in the middle, then on the last one you hit the "quote" one. So if I wanted to quote two people, it would be the middle one first, then the "quote" one last. Or for three it would be "middle" "middle" then "quote." When you quote, you can edit out their unrelated text, like I have about your Sasha comment and the other stuff. I just left the quote question part. But, when you edit, make sure you leave the little brackets at the beginning and end, otherwise it won't give you the blue box. It will still quote, but it won't have the blue box.
Mods: Can you merge this post with the one above? Sorry for double posting.

I've been to waaaay too many to list, but I will post a few of my fondest concert memories:
Black Sabbath w/ Van Halen opening, 1978 (last tour w/Ozzy, 1st arena tour for VH---amazing)
Pink Floyd, Animals tour, 1977, Milw County Stadium--the pig exploded, surreal!
Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell tour, Milw 1980---show cut short by falling bottle hitting Geezer Butler, audience rioted, destroyed arena and surrounding city blocks, rock concerts banned in Milwaukee (hehehe)
Blizzard of Ozz w/ Motorhead, 1981---front row, first Ozzy tour w/ Randy Rhoads (RIP) (influential early hero for me)
Kiss, 1979, full make-up and stage show, awesome!
Metallica w/Raven Kill Em' All For One Tour, 1984 Chicago---when Metallica was still hungry, this show was immortalized in the "Cliff 'Em All" official video release
Slayer, Haunting The Chapel tour 1984, Milw---they played a tiny club and I stood right in front of 'em and watched from about 3 feet away at eye level
Judas Priest, many tours, old and new, all kicked ass!
NIN, Lollapalooza 1, Chicago, 1991---NIN destroyed everyone on the bill that day, incredible!
Ministry, Lollapalooza 3, Alpine Valley, loudest concert ever, crushing!!
And this is just a sample---if I listed every cool show I've seen, I'd be still writing in this thread 8 hours from now; in fact, I can't even think of 'em all, but I know I've forgotten some cool ones! Good thread!

Yeah, I'm old, hehe. But my hippie older cousin took me, and I think he may have dropped acid that day. He's also the guy that took me to see the Exorcist and Tommy when I was a wee lad. Hey! Maybe he's the reason I am the way I am, come to think of it....

Missed out on the Floyd - although I have been to several laser light shows.
Definitely a good show - but nothing like a live performance.
Always so tight - and Floyd used space in music perfectly. Pink Floyd - probably the hardest
band to cover well.

Way too many to list, but here are some of my favorites:
Rush-Hemispheres tour
Jethro Tull
Styx
Kansas
Ozzy
Metallica-Black tour
Guns n/Roses
Jimmy Page/Robert Plant
Rolling Stones
Paul McCartney
Kiss (don't laugh, they put on a great show!)
AC/DC
Jimmy Buffett
Steely Dan (I've never heard ANY band sound as good as they did...outside...perfect!)
Like I said, too many to name. And I don't go anymore because it costs too damn much. I'm going to date myself (as if the list above didn't already) and remember fondly that tickets used to cost....wait for it.....$7.50 :p
I also love the ballet and Broadway shows. I'll come back later and list those.

My dad took me to my first show when I was just a kid--- it was a pearl Jam concert---- I don't remember a THING about it, but he said that Eddie Vedder was really enrgetic, climbing on the rafters and shit----
I've only been to a few big concerts....saw Queens of the stone age once, The White Stripes, I even saw 311 once in high school... I went through a phase with them... (I'm over it now)....
The modern rock station in the area I went to middle school in used through these festivals called "X-Fest".... I went there a couple of times.....
I saw Tool once...
lots of local gigs,
I'd rather be on stage than in the audience... I'm a neurotic, sensitive little bitch... I don't like standing for long periods of time...I have to make frequent trips to the bathroom.....etc.
I enjoy laying in bed watchin concerts off of the internet....

Best ever, for me, was at the end of Canal Street in New Orleans, w/my girlfriend, hearing Tom Waits for the evening on a Riverboat ride...then when we came in, I had a couple of friends from the 9th Ward, right next to French Quarter, and we spent all nite hitting all the bars down there...good time...

I have been to a hell of a lot of shows. I still go to shows but not as many as when I was a teenager. That's all I used to do. I have been to multiple ozzfests, sounds of the underground and many more shows with multiple bands. I'm too lazy to type all bands I have seen but to name a few....
Tool
Sevendust 4 times
Otep 5 times
Static x
Ozzy
Slayer
Gwar 3 times
Korn
Deftones
Hatebreed
Lacuna coil
Lamb of god 3 times
And many many many more
I guess I'm your typical metal/nu metal chick. I love all kinds of music tho. I've seen a couple rap artist and a country show or 2 with my mom. I would love to see some older bands like pink floyd, Jefferson airplane, the doors etc etc. I love oldies.
Damn now I really want to go to a show.

I've been going to hardcore shows since I was 13 years old. People laugh when they hear Connecticut and Hardcore in the same grouping, but believe me, there is a huge scene here. I'm not going to count those shows, there has probably been easily a hundred bands I have seen. Ok, so here's a list of headliners I have seen
Marilyn Manson
Tom Petty
Doobie Brothers
Max Creek
Primus
Frog Brigade (love love LOVE Les Claypool)
Godsmack
Linkin Park
Insane Clown Posse (I know, I'm ashamed too)
Sevendust
Dr Dre
Ice Cube
Method Man/Redman
Incubus (in 3 different states)
Deftones
Chevelle
Sigur Ros (fucking amazing)
Jimmie's Chicken Shack (15 times FUCK YEAH!!)
Disturbed
Stained
Boyhitscar
Nonpoint
311
Taproot
6Gig
Slipknot (gross)
Phish
Nine Inch Nails/David Bowie
Tool a few times
Ozzy too many times
Metallica
Stone Temple Pilots
Live
Rush
There's more that I just can't think of right now. Nice to see someone else knows who the hell G Love and Special Sauce are
EDIT: Can't forget the festivals...Falcon Ridge, Rolling Rock Town Fair, bunch of Ozzfests, Woodstock 99, a couple Lolapalooza's
I love Jimmie's Chicken Shack. Saw them back in 95 at a festival.

God. Scratch the Cats part. The chandelier thing is from Phantom of the Opera, not Cats. I've never seen Cats. I've seen Phantom though. That's what I was talking about. How I got them confused I don't know.
The Ovid thing was great though. It was senior year in college, and the professor of my Latin class that term took us up to Cincinnati to see it. It was basically a selection of Ovid's Metamorphoses set to a play form, no music. The one about Alcyone (think Halcion--where the name comes from) was very sad, and the last one was the story about Cupid falling in love with a mortal and pretending to be human. Then, at the end, when the mortal finds out he's a god, he shed all of his clothes. It was kind of uncomfortable seeing a naked guy on stage and having my professor and classmates sitting there, but it was interesting.
