article here (http://www.cja-jca.org/cgi/content/full/51/9/905)
i read in a dxm-zine a while ago that dxm lowers your tolerance to morphine. i've also found cases where people tripping on dxm who ate fentayl or morphine patches experienced severe respitory depression and needed to be hospitalized for it, or died.
basically from the information i've read, a dose of dxm lowers the amount of morphine that is needed to have the same pain-killing effects. in a group of people in a 10 weed study, they found that people who were given dxm with morphine needed less morphine to achieve the same desired effects.
in my own experience, when i'm on dxm recreationally and i use opiates recreationally, i do seem to get more fucked up.
IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO COMBINE DXM WITH OPIATES - i am not suggesting that you should take dxm with opiates, i just found it very interesting that it lowers your tolerance.

Yes DXM potentiates opiates at low doses and is actually pretty safe as long as the doses are kept to a minimal.I do it all the time.

What size of dose of DXM are we talking about here? 10-20 mg?

yea, i would like to know this also. i make pod tea and it would be nice to potentiate it so i dont have to take so much and mess my stomach up.
ive got some nyquil liquid that has 15 mg per dose. maybe i shall try a dose or two the next time i take my tea. the alcohol in it cant hurt either:)

15 to 30 mg's works for me. However, when I add it to my tea regiment for a few days in a row, I start to get more tired then anything else....for me, anyways, it's more of a once in a while thing...
PS; the DXM disolving breath strips are the best...15mg's per strip...

Ive got alot of posts regarding this issue...
DXM can radically enhance/moderate an addicts reaction to opiates. I started taking it a few years ago after reading the the FDA had approved a drug called morphidex, a mixture of DXM and morphine for tolerance control in chronic pain patients or terminal illness patients.
For the occasional user I dont think the combination offers alot, maybe a little potentiation, but possibly at the cost of some added side effects that many people will not want to tolerate.
I had been opiate dependent for years before I tried the combo. I would take the substance daily for over a year after discovering its benefit....till I endured some of dxm's side effects. it is addictive physically in its own right.
Now I occasionally take it when I feel the tolerance creep creeping up on me. I will take it on my friday night, and then notice the next day the opiates are hitting stronger...plus a anti-depressant like effect usually keeps me motivated on my day off, in between a few naps as the experience the night before usually takes a bit out of me. Also I find that I have normal bowel movements for a few days after taking dxm, when normally I would be mildly constipated, by mild I mean I have daily bowel movements, but lets just say things are firmer than they should be.
I was using exceedingly high doses of dxm at times, in the hundreds of milligram range, so I was abusing the drug as well basically. the main effect when dependent is pretty lucid, stimulant effect predominates, but there is some strange behaviour and thoughts due to the dissasociative effects. Now that I am not taking dxm every day, but more like bi monthly I have dropped my dose.
I just took 75 milligrams this last weekend, and noted a beneficial effect on tolerance, but the experience was a little too strong and psychoactive..
I am going to try this weekend to drop that dose to 30 milligrams, basically the reccomended dosage, I have a feeling that using that small of an amount may still have a positive effect.
dxm is not for everyone...my wife hates the stuff, even a little dxm makes her feel like others peoples thoughts are invading her thoughts...sort of comparable to a type of "psychic static".
and a few people can have a deadly enzyme reaction to dxm!
I would consider the material addictive, but less so than ketamine. I have known a few people who would have been better off stearing clear of the "robo" experience and other forms of DXM containing products.
