I have made up my mind for once and no matter what I have to do, to get off mmt. I'm sick of it and I'm just tired most the day and no energy etc. I'm at 230mg now and can only go down 10mg a week.
Since methadone is built up so much in me I'm sure at the dose I've been at so long for two years or so, would I be able to skip a take home and make it all the way through till the next day without getting real sick or bad wd's?

Also if I supposedly were to get my hands on 10/500 watsons or some other opiate, could I just cold turkey stop going to the clinic and when wd's got bad I could start taking the opiate instead? if that would work, how long would I have to take vicodin etc before the methadone is gone outta my system completely?

I figure this would be a faster way and must more painless way of getting off done, because when I used to use on the side when I used to be on suboxone. When I would run out of the short acting opiates like hydro and wd's would set in. I could take one 8mg suboxone within 6 hours or less after the wd's got too bad from the short acting vicodin and not have any problems at all. Instant relief due to the fact that everything doesn't last quite as long in me because I have no colon(ulcerative colitis) is probably the only reason I can do what most people can't do(take suboxone so soon after wd's set in)

I don't really know about this...I certainly know how you feel, tho, as I spent five thousand bucks, and two failed attempts, to get off methadone by switching to subs...but both times, I did do what was recommended, which was to drop way down in dose before switching...now, I have gone from *heroin* to subs, and some people--Saint, I think--was going to try that...

But I also have to tell you, that people at really high doses of methadone, or people w/longterm heroin addiction--both of which apply to me--don't always find subs so agreeable...I finally just had to give up finding another way off methadone, and just bring my dose on down to 50mg, however I could, and then do a slow taper off...which worked for me, as I'm off methadone, and opiates, for last couple of months......so I know what you are going thru: don't get discouraged, I'm sure you'll find a way...
