Look at this quote from the National Drug Intelligence Center, a doc that is called:
Buprenorphine: Potential for Abuse
there you see this quote:
Using buprenorphine and heroin in combination does not produce increased effects, but if buprenorphine and methadone are abused together, the effects of both drugs are enhanced. Consequently, diverted buprenorphine may be attractive to patients currently using methadone for opiate addiction therapy.
WTF???
Do they like junkies to suffer the acute wd of mixing a antagonist with a agonist? it doesnt matter if its a partial agonist, it will behave like an pure antagonist in the previous presence of an agonist...
Do they know that the text is false?
Or is this just plain stupidity or even ignorance?
But the thing is.. When you put info like this on a goverment site you expect people to believe and that info will spread thru the net with its consequences.. just search in google for "but if buprenorphine and methadone are abused together, the effects of both drugs are enhanced" and more pages will appear with that info.
If an ignorant junkie that is on MMT reads that and is dying to get a high, he will try to use bupe to potentiate the done, cause after all the government says it potentiates.. and next thing he will see is the hospital or in severe cases even death..
and more down in the page:
The drug also can be abused in combination with methadone, making buprenorphine diversion more problematic in areas where heroin abuse and methadone therapy are common, such as the Northeast region.
Misinfo like this is makes more damage than the drugs themselves.
For those who like to read all the crap from the webpage:
