I know at my sub doctor they have you pee in a cup and the test it right there at the place, i wondered if all of the doctors are like that? and if so how do they get the results, do they stick a thing in the urine? or do they have like a lab for testing the urine?

I suspect they are using an in office standard 5-7-9 panel type test. It apparently costs a lot to test for bupe. My guess is they want to know what else you are indulging in.

I've gone to 3 different bupe doctors, first one was at a methadone center, they treated bupe in the same way they do methadone (daily handouts/mandatory groups/bleh) and only tested me once for the 6 weeks I was there.. Changed over to another doctor that did pain management also (getting us comming, and going ;)). He never tested me, but was a shit doctor. I'd wait for hours to see the doctor, he never knew who I was, what my dose was, etc. Changed to a different doctor now, who is wonderful. He tests me every month, but I've been able to get all clean pees by being clean 3 days before my test. I've failed for benzos and weed, but my new doctor doesn't care, as long as I test clean for opiates. The test I take is similar to an at-home pee cup. I pee in the cup, and they dip a strip of paper into it. The methadone clinic did the pee in a cup, send it to a lab bs. All doctors will have different modus operandis (sp?) but I'd say the norm is getting pee tested once a month.

At my doc, you just piss in the cup and then they turn it up on its side and the results show up. He does just the 5 panel

I've been going to my sub doc for roughly 3 years, and at 1st they only made me pee like maybe once every 3 or 4 visits - but now there's a new nurse working there and so we've got to pee every single time. I don't really mind cuz I've been clean for months, but even back when I was relapsing and pissed dirty, my doc didn't really seem to mind and would only say something like, "Well, please just make it a clean one next time..." (Ok doc...)
In regards to the type of test they do - I also believe it is a 5 panel but I'm not totally positive. You get handed a plastic cup which has a smaller, sideways vial looking thing inside the middle (not exactly sure what that's for), and when your pee goes into the cup the results automatically start to show up on the side of the cup. Then you snap the lid on there and hand it right back to the nurse, who can read your results right then and there - no sending it out to a lab... nothing.
