!0 days without a beer, well this is my 10th morning wakin up without being smashed the night before and i have never gone this long without a beer, in maybe 14yrs.....

I'm waking up in pools of sweat, everything smells more real...I can smell everything!.....Man some guy i know was helping me out with some tv stuff and he was kneeling down, so was i, and all i could smell was his fuckin feet!!
I'm sure the guy aint no soap dodger, but man all i could smell was his feet.He had his sneakers on an stuff.But all my heightened sense of smell could take in was his feet!....

How long is this gonna last for?

Couldn't tell you bro. Never been a regular drinker. Can relate to the feet smellin though. Sometimes I take a foot bath just so I don't have to smell my own damn feet.

Keep goin with the no drinkin thing for a while. Give yourself a chance to adjust.

i used to kinda look forward to seeing what i've been missing in the world of taste and smell, if i ever decide to give up the cigarettes (nothing i see happening soon BTW). but now i don't know! maybe the world just smells too damn gross for me to handle without the cigarettes killing off my ability to sense lots of it! :D

I still havent got much of an appetite, just drinking lotsa other fluids....Mainly tea.....And i can feel the benefits of no booze and my body getting rehydrated....I'm looking forward to weighing myself after crimbo, maybe i'll have put on a couple a kilo.....Not just the kilo's that come in slabs....;)......

Now on my 11th day no booze.I now have a stinking cold, my throat feels like i been sucking a monkeys arse and ingested some shit!.....
Is this what i now have to expect in the "sober world"....Especially as i also try and reduce my methadone intake...(i have actually taken 2 thirds less this week).....Am i now gonna have to suffer all the illness;s that come when you dont abuse yourself?

I guess b4 any cold virus targetting me musta taken a look and gone "whoa, we cant mess wiv that dude"....:p

Well at least if i get this cold out the way now, i wont have it over christmas ....

Yeah: I hadn't got sick for a couple years, Raz...and as soon as I got off methadone, I got the gout, so my foot was aching, and also now I got a fucking cold my own damn self...and I always wake up around 2-3 in the morning, and don't get back to sleep for a couple hrs...I get up, read, do something...but u know what? It's not that bad...I was always restless sleeper....I'd take this over the horrors of constipated, bloated, lazy, water-hating, ice cream eating half life I had before *on* the mdone...this ain't nothin but a meatball...take it in stride...hope all is well brother...

Keep with it man. Quitting drinking was one of the hardest things that I ever had to to. But the results of this lifestyle change are well worth it, your body will thank you. I feel so much better being off the booze, it's been almost 1.5 years now and although I sometimes want to drink, at this point I don't crave it very much. And I was a big time alcoholic.

Of course it's all relative. I mean, I was only drinking hardcore for like 2 years. But I think when you're drinking that much liquor and beer all the time, every day without fail, it's going to be damaging even if it's only for a few years. So at 14 years I know this is something that I can't even imagine...did you use benzos at all to help prevent delirium tremens and ease the withdrawal? Or just methadone? I'm not as familiar with your regimen as some others so I was just curious. Quitting cold turkey is quite a feat, so if you managed to do that you really have some strength, you've made it this long, you can keep on keeping on, you got it in you bro!:cool:

You're body is going to feel so much better the longer you keep going. Your sense of smell has been dulled for so long that it might be awhile before it diminishes, maybe a month or two.

I was by no means a full blown hard liquior drinker.....Just a steady fucked up beer drinker for roughly the last 14yrs.With maybe a total of 1mth combined off the booze in that time....I have never gone this long before without a beer....

I realise now that i get trapped in a pattern of behaviour, especially where beer is concerned...Like its normal to be drinking all day...When most people are at work or something.....Hopefully i've broken the cycle now.And if i ever do have a drink or something, it will be part of a meal....Not just the first of many on my way to getting smashed......

I think Raz is doing great (I only made it to 4 days of no drinking, I just need that weekend drink after a week of stupid officework).
I ain't doing whistles anymore though.. a whistle is a chase I presume?
Anyway, we're all here for you, Raz, as we are here for everybody I hope. And I know how bloody difficult it is to do EVERYTHING right. You can't quit all your habits - not at once I guess.. Seems downright impossible to me anyway..

But Sim's right: be careful not to make it a real habit again or at least try to NOT use any juice on the days you are indulging.. so you don't end up with a huge MF of a double

Wake up, hit ze fridge an take whatever methadone i feel is sufficient to stop me scoring...Come ten thirty start getting bored, having a chase gets in my head, fuck it, out the door and go score...Have a chase, fck it have a beer and a joint as well....Come the late afternoon, i be pissed on the sofa,smokin joint after joint.....No way too live .....Well thats what i have decided.

And now booze is the last thing on my mind.....Booze was doin me more damage than smack, booze was keeping me skinny.Constantly dehydrated....Some of you have seen pics of me and my skinny cheekbones, well, my skeletor look is goin!!....Yep my cheekbones have some fuckin flesh on em............At last....Although i dont have much of an appetite, its slowly comin back...

I know i still have a long long way to go and just one beer would probably just send me back to la la land...My local bar has even got a few crates of sin alki in for me and i dont feel no way drinking that in there...I only even frequent the bar,infrequently, coz my kid has a little job there and she enjoys it..

.Bars aint really my thing, talking shit and playing ego games wiv retarded fuckin english sheeple....When i walk in the bar its like "denahhhh(dramatic music) all eyes turn to the man in black as he walks to the bar and lays his sixguns on the counter".....It really is laffable....:rolleyes:

Raz, man, you doing great! I quite back in 2003 and I know exactly what your talking about. Everything smelled different, felt different, and tasted different. I don't remember how long it lasted... the only thing I remember the best was the damn shakes. I was on done at the time and I think that was about the only thing that kept me sane. That, and the fact I had newborn to care for. I couldn't drink all day and night, pop 120mg or so of done and still be a responsible parent.

Alright Raz...I found that once I got used to not drinking, that got easier...getting off opiates is different to me, as it seems to "make happy" areas of my bod and brain I don't understand so well...but alcohol...which I loved forever...finally failed me, and I had to leave it behind...but after a month or so, I felt and acted 10 years younger, was more physical, more energetic, even a bit more mentally alert...so good for you...

Great job Raz! I quit drinking again a few months back myself. Alcohol is some nasty shit if you think about it. Too many toxic side effects. A few nights ago I let it get the better of me and I went and bought a 40 ouce of malt liquor. I felt like shit for the next couple days after that. I don't know why but I can't handle booze any more. It's like poison to me now...
