Has anyone read "Scar Tissue" by Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chilli Peppers fame? If you've got any interest in any kind of music and drugs i throughly recomend it.Had me laughing and crying from cover to cover and left me feeling totally humble

yeah, i purchased this from HMV along with the Heroin Diaries and A Drink With Shane McGowan. They were all £5 so I couldnt resist! i have read it, but i want to go back and do so again. i thought it was pretty damn good. i have the chilli's album, their greatest hits, and i suppose you could say i think they are alright, but never been a massive fan. i was wincing at his cocaine binges though. urgh. i squirm at the sheer memory of what those periods of doing snowballs were like for people like us. with all that money... how on earth does he stay off gear? was pretty interested about his HEP C treatment which is spoke about in the introduction. i dont know if i have hep c yet, but i will sure as hell be finding out the name of it if i do.

i had allmy HIV/HEP test a few months back.
i remember the first time i took an AIDS test about 3 yrs ago. PROPER agonising it was. and it wasnt as if i had to wait weeks for the result. -it was a same day test. just thru the waiting for the results it caused me to relapse and i went and scored just after lunch. i went back at 5 to pick up my results and all was ok with my body but my mind was back into smackhead mode

oh and im not a big chillis fan. i got a couple of their albums but i just loved the book.
it really made me feel humble and left me thanking my lucky stars.
being so world-famous like that, its gotta be fucking hard to be a smackhead too.
yet taking gear is the only thing you could take to handle the stardom.
what a horrible catch 22..

I got a beat up ol copy of dis book in a cuboard somewhere......Wat i liked about the geezer was his abillity to just fuck off and cluck a habit out....Even with all dat wonga he still did it hard style cold turkey quite a few times........

Everytime he comes on the tv now me an the missus are goin "He;s back on the gear,naw he aint, yes he is".........

really entertaining read, but i dont envy the dude at all. it depresses the fuck out of me whenever i read about folks who started on drugs at a really young age and never had a real childhood.

i didnt even know there was a shane mcgowan book, you think its worth buying?

yeah i know what you mean. if you want depressing, read Christiane F a heroin addict at 13 and a prostitute. crazy.

shane mcgowan, a drink with .... what a fantastic book. its written by his partner and its in like running dialogue, interview style. its written in different pubs and bars around london mostly. hence the "a drink with [him]". its pretty good, i really liked it. wonder how the fuck she puts up with him though.

^ ^ yeah raz, i know what you mean. all that money! only time ive done a cluck is when ive had no dollar. id of pissed away my whole fortune if i were him. i do that too when i see him on tv. he is looking good for his age though.

She left him, a couple of years ago as far as i know.
Poor Shane, heh...
They did seem to stick together for quite a while though, and she was what? about 15-20 years younger than Shane? (not that the age difference is of any importance in the greater scheme of things, ofcourse)

Ah well, he always has his drink to keep him afloat. i think it really is the case where if he were to give up the drink now he would probably die, just going through horrendous withdrawals (no matter how well medically supervised) of about 40 years of drinking every single day, and not just a pint or two but like a bottle or two. of Vodka, Scotch etc.., every single day
I'm amazed he made it this far. He must have a VERY strong liver and kidneys, let along a very strong mind too, being able to keep it together (at least somewhat) for as long as he has. Pretty amazing

when he was still with that gal, she once said he really didnt drink that much at all anymore, and that it was just the public perception, and that his teeth rotted out due to some bacteria or disease not at all related to drinking or drugs.

ahhahaha. i wonder if she still has that kind of optimistim about his condition nowadays.
