A recent post in another thread got me to thinking about the possiblity of a chewable/snotable pill that still retains its time release capability. Then I stumbled upon this websitehttp://oregonstate.edu/Dept/ncs/newsarch/1998/Mar98/timedrug.htm and apparently they have found a way. Then in the middle of typing this I realized the research in question dates back to 1998.

"Commercial development of the product likely will take four to five years to reach the market."

So either it hasn't reached the market yet or the people at purdue haven't heard about this yet.
Having said that let us all bow our heads, pray and cross our fingers in the hopes that they never do.

Isn't MS Contin XR a formulation like that? That even if you crush it and parachute it it still retains it's extended release abilities? There is a thread about this in the morphine forum... not sure how accurate the information is though, no first hand experience here. :)

Yup, Endo brand makes MS Contin that turns into a gel pretty much the same regardless of whether you swallow them whole, chew or crush them. It's the gel that does the time releasing.
