I made the threat title a little drastic to get attention. But last week for the first time i took 3 hydrocodone (7.5mg) when my back was really bad. They had 500mg APAP in it, so i spaced it out over an hour (i took another when my back still hurt). I had taken maybe two earlier in the day so i didnt exced the Daily maximu. I started taking ibuprofen the other day and this might be what is causing the problems but i want to make sure it is not liver related. The pain is mostly on the left side and feels almost like my stomach, but it doesnt feel exactly like my stomach.... its a confusing feeling that i have been trying to come up with a description for. The ibuprofen hurt my stomach really bad and i have had a really bad upset stomach for two days (stopped taking it once my stomach started hurting). I know its stomach issues but i guess i wanted to post here to ask what would be symptoms of some type of liver problem? ANy info would help.

Doubt its your liver. Did you eat the pills on a empty stomach? Def sounds like the tylenol. I get the SAME pains at the SAME area, especially with a lot of cigerattes and coffee, in combo of an empty or light stomach.
Tylenol has a way of making you feel like its eating the shit outta you, but its nothing to worry about most likely. Ive eaten a lot of tylenol by itself, and it felt like it creating an ulcer by the minute, but rarely do I get heartburn, or anything related to ulcers.
don't worry man, you'll be fine.

If I remember correctly, more than 4000 mg in 24 hours can be dangerous. (And in some cases, toxic.) You're probably ok, liver-wise. But obviously if your pain continues, you should go to a doctor. :)

i had maybe 3500mg of tylenol in that 24 hour period, but that was a week ago and the pain started two days ago. Im thinking it was probably the ibuprofen. Sometimes i can take it 4 times a day and others..... well i never reacted this bad too it befor.

Have you gone to the bathroom recently, Sometimes I get bad stomach aches/problems when Im backed up. Just wanted to throw that in there, cause sometimes its the most easiest solution that makes us wonder what the hell is going on.
So please, let us all in on when the last time you dropped the kids off at the pool.:uhhohh:;)

Sounds like the Ibuprofen as it is known to cause upset stomach. Tylenol(acetominophen) generally doesn't cause stomach upset.
4 grams is the max dose daily for Acetominophen
3.2 grams/day is the max dose for Ibuprofen
Unless you already have an existing liver condition, I really wouldn't worry. Even if you were to take more than 4 grams in one day(like a few extra Vicodin than prescribed)you would still be OK. It takes large doses to cause liver damage.
Tylenol overdose is common among teens/adolescents.
You stomach pain could be caused by the Ibuprofen, constipation, or maybe an ulcer!

Candy is right about the Tylenol not causing stomach problems. In fact, most doctors will tell you to take acetominophen over ibuprofen (Advil) if you have any kind of gastrointestinal problems. Other than the liver problems, Tylenol is a much safer drug to take than Advil. Advil can cause ulcers, stomach and intestinal bleeding and is hell on your kidneys. Plus, in some people like me, the ib causes serious allergic reactions (i.e. hives and swelling of your throat). When I was 9 or 10, 400 milligrams of Advil about killed me when my airway was cut off due to the swelling. I avoid the shit like the plague.
On the Tylenol, a good rule of thumb is to keep your intake between three to four-thousand milligrams. Anything above five grand, you develop some damage and ten-thousand or more, there's a good chance you're either going to have irreparable liver damage or die a slow and painful death.
I did read a report (I think on opioids.com) about some people who seem to be immune to the liver damage, even in doses above 10 grams a day, because they slowly upped their Tylenol dosage over a long period of time. Most of these people were abusers of opioids who got their tylenol from stuff like Lortab or Percs. I wouldn't recommend finding out if this works or not, but I do find it interesting.

Some drugs inhibit the production of prostaglandins which protects the stomach lining from stomach acids. This can lead to pain and ulcers, espcially with long term use.
If you need to take drugs such as Ibuprofen, take Pepcid or Tagamet. They are sold OTC and will help to decrease the stomach acid.
