OK, she's talkin' about Fitchburg Ma (ie Shitsburg) and its 100/g if anyone cares for wildly fluctuating crappy quality shit, and even though its only 30 miles from my old stomping grounds of Lowell (stamps, way better, but that could just be my younger years and lower tolerance, huh) they don't do stamps, its EC powder but in 100/g (white boy price, often I just give 90 depending on my mood and say deal with it, but that's not advisable too often with shitty connects huh).

Yeah yeah, it seems we speak the obvious but her and I and a number of others were got quite comfortable not having to pay for a damn thing for well over a year. That's why in a way it is worse for her and the others, I control my own destiny, I know I can always "rise again" and repeat history, they cannot, they don't have the access and the particular skillset to do this, and I imagine it must be a greater letdown even than the one I felt myself as I shared the junky paradise at no cost with them, and after my fall they lost what I lost, but they have no way to "reinstate" the halcion days beyond hoping I can repeat history. That must really fucking suck, I've tried to see it like this:
When I was in my 20's with no daughter and downward spiraling, how would I have reacted if this freaky junky showed up giving away pure shit far better than heroin, and not asking for cash or anything else. I would have been dumbfounded waiting for theother shoe to drop (ie, bro what's the game?), after awhile I'da realized it wasn't a game, then I would have been beyond fucked and crestfallen when I heard he lost for the foreseeable time all his ability to do this stuff. I'da likely felt worse cause there woulda been nothing I coulda done about it, just as there is little they can do but hope. Hope without knowledge (both of which I do have now) leads to heartbreak and disappointment. Hope with knowledge leads to success, eventually but often with failures in the learning process.
In other words, the concept of paying for our medicine is one lost on us for a long time, and only the recent harsh reminder of the reality of prohibition economics has served to be a cruel but useful (motivationally speaking) wake up call, for me anyways...
Get what I'm saying about "shit, I gotta pay for dope?" Yeah, fuck why do I gotta pay for dope? We ain't got no Ministry of Health here nick, we only got a Ministry of Prohibition, or MiniPro in Orwellian speak. Should I say Newspeak? I think a lot of you (nick would be the exception here, and even this is different, I don't know what level of control the English junky has over dose in diamorphine maintenance) don't realize the freedom and heartbreak of having had and lost a truly infinite (for the time) supply, to be able to never worry about being sick, to wake up everyday with a shot ready, not to have to "make it stretch", and then to have it all wiped away in about the worst 10 minutes of an institution's truth being rained down on me. NOT FUCKING EASY TO TAKE!

If it were me on the receiving end of the free pass, I would have had a lot of the skepticism you were mentioning at first. After all, there are no free lunches. Then I would have dove in head first, mouth open and arms outstretched. But, there would always be that nagging fear that it would end. Not enough of a fear to moderate me though.
Once the carpet got ripped out, I can completely understand the emotions in the original post.

I know there are groups like OSI, DPA, SSDP, LEAP and so forth around here in america but I never seem to see any mention of these big "grassroots" (as in including the people most affected by oppressive drug prohibition laws as opposed to elitist types, ie politicians and professors, etc) type conferences in america. Any info on this stuff nick?
