I've tried speedballing on several occasions and been disappointed and always chalked it up to getting the ratios wrong but tonight I think I finally got it. The coke was nothing to write home about and due to several factors I had to substitute oxy, but I finally get, or got, the feeling that so many have died chasing. Damn that was nice. I'm going back to trying to stay clean tomorrow but I don't regret a thing (well maybe that it was oxy and not H). Sorry to gloat but DAMN!!!!!

Yep: I had my speedballing days, and for a while there, a crew I knew was hitting hospital pharmacies in a couple of deep south states, and they'd *always* seem to come up w/pharmaceutical cocaine, both powder, *and* liquid, tho actually powder was always stronger...and I'd wonder just *really* what all those pharmacists were keeping it on hand for...as you know, coke is *not* sched I, like heroin(illegal), but sched II (legal) and--in those days--I was a commercial diver working out of Louisiana, and it was--sort of--common for divers who *couldn't* clear correctly--mandatory for working divers--to get their noses worked on--I forget the name, septum something or another--and they'd go up to Duke University to get operated on, and *always* come back w/little cocaine "sprayers" for post op numbing, etc...and "free" buzz...

But of course, my pals would score, and we'd always get the liquid dilaudid, and put it in a spoon w/pharmy coke, and I'd get layed *flat* hanging on for life, as coke rush me, but instead of jangled coke "come down" the dilaudid would kick in instead, and it was "oh boy"...

And what killed John Belushi, who had it all, and being a good junky, threw it all away...

Me, I don't know how I survived all that shit....

Consumed.

I think they got "deviated septums" that needed to be fixed. I have multiple friends who have gotten that surgery. Costs about five grand so they can breath again!

Yeah, I worked for a big company down there, and several divers, and diver tenders had gotten the surgery, and now you write it, I remember it...what would often happen was that guys had been like scuba divers, and then gone to commercial dive school (or prison school, like me) and then got jobs, and then tended for 2-4 years, and then "broke out" as divers...and some of them would be devestated when they realized they couldn't *clear* good going down, or worse--and more dangerous--coming up, when you often had water stops, and then had to go back *down* to 40 feet in the decompression chamber, and if you were Class II or higher diver--and I was, at this point--you also dove *heliox* rather than air, at deeper depths, and being able to clear, *and* get to your stops on time, got really serious, and guys would couldn't clear, were *out*...not too many second chances really...

Ah, anyway, I could go on and on, but yep, in order to try to stay, you know, employed in this field, often guys would fork out their own money to get the operation...

Me, I *always* could clear easily, without fanfare or anything, and even with a cold, I took a lot of pride in zipping down, getting job done, and getting to stops on time on way back up...and then wagging my dick at the guy stuck running my decompression chamber, which embarassed the fuck out of these guys who had never been exposed to prison divers, and our very sick sense of prison homoerotic humor...anytime we could make a "california diver" blush, or even better "complain to the supervisor" we figured we had scored bigtime...

ramble ramble :)
