Relistor (methylnaltrexone bromide injection) is now available at your local pharmacy and is indicated for constipation caused strictly from opiate when other laxatives wouldn't work. I've been waiting for this drugmto come out for some time now and am going to the pharmacy to pick up now since int is ready... i will let everyone know my results. And no, it wont put you into withdrawals because it has the inability to cross the blood brain barrier thus leaving your CNS unaffected, but your bowels empty.

Do some research, the only promblem is that it is fairly expensive.

There goes one more reason to get off methadone out the window!

I'd go out on a limb and say that an anal assault (tee hee) would be quite effective. Although I'd much rather try what the OP mentioned first. I know that it is a difficult decision (ass pounding vs. injection), but I'm willing to bet the injection would be more popular with the general (opiated) public.

Nah RX only unfortunately, but i don't think it's scheduled so in a few months there might be some online pharmacies stocking it.

Okay, here goes. Make sure you take this at your own risk. It is a subcutaneous injection btw sorry. Within four minutes of the injection, I could feel my bowels moving all around and was happy it was working. Well, I did in fact eventually shit, but I was also vomiting uncontrollably, very cold, and went into the most significant withdrawals of my entire life. Luckily my father is an MD and I went to his office to have one of the nurses administer it to me for the 1st time (just in case). They immediately hooked me up to a fluid IV and gave me a bedpan and gave me a shot of phenergan, which was fantastic because I eventually fell asleep. It was a very odd sense of withdrawals though, and the most painful part were the 25 sec apart EXTREME gas pain. After waking up after all of the fluids were in me, I drove home, took my methadone dose and lied in the bath. The relistor absolutely did NOT block the methadone however, and I got a very good nod going. I am baffled by why it made me feel so shitty. I can honestly say though, that this morning was the most painstaking event I have ever been forced to go through, and the fact my bowels are empty as can be is hardly worth it. I think that the reason it was so bad was because it had been several days since my last BM and had been taking several OTC laxatives including sennosides, miralax, and docusate sodium. Maybe my colon was so messed up it made the expperience worse than normal. I will say that it DOES in fact send you into withdrawal land, even though it has no effect on blocking any opiates taken in the hours after it was administered.

I was very much the guinea pig in this experiment and hopefully you guys can take my experience and draw your own conclusion.

And price wise, my father (the doctor) is friends with the local pharmacist and I paid cost for one dose (vial). So the pharmacy gets the one dose, 12 mg/.6mL for FIFTY DOLLARS. If taken regularly though, you are only supposed to dose every other day.

So like I said, please use Relistor at your own risk and I wanna predict today that in the near future, it will be recalled, changed, or taken off of the market altogether. Good luck guys, and happy shitting (no dicks though please!)!

i posted this months ago. it was avalible this summer. a friend of mine is on it. he is on suboxone and is having great results with it. it is around 50 bucks a dose. medicade pays for it so thats great. it comes in "kits" that have little packs with a needle, vial of med, 2 alcohol swabs all in a nice tray. but it works. and works wonders.

and my friend poops regurlarly on 16mg of subxone a day. i can't see how it can cause w/ds cause it only works on the guts.

Yeah, I'd read about that, some study of--I think--older patients on longlasting opiates, and it seemed *so* hopeful...maybe it was on here, and it was you that posted it, but anyway, thanks again...

Funny thing is, it was mostly constipation that sort of forced me into a slow, serious withdrawal plan from methadone maintenance...may seem sort of funny/weird/lightweight, but I'm sort of a proud man, and it was getting *so* depressing to have to give myself daily coffee enemas, and taking all kinds of laxative, and being twice in ER's in this year, after week of constipation, that I finally decided I just couldn't take it anymore, and had to get off of these long lasting opiates--bupe does pretty much the same thing to me, probably added to fact I'm older than most of you, and nothing "flows" as good as it once does...who knows...

But anyway, to me, this is always major--and worst--side effect of methadone maintenance, and I go to monthly "group" for mdone vets at V.A. hospital, and constipation...and lethargy/sleeping too much, lack of interest in life, drinking, etc., are main problems of all these older vets--most in fifties or older--and I was healthiest looking one of all, tho it is me saying it...

But in any case, once I got down around 20mg methadone, my bm's got normal again, and morning are now "happy time" again for me...and I'm at 5mg daily, *way* down, and about finished, and haven't had a really bad day since I started drop, and between yoga, and now *bodysurfing*:) again, feeling reasonably optimistic and even cheerful about my chances...and it's been almost three years since I've had a day off opiates...and I'm stone junky, so "we'll see...", but I can't help that I'm starting to get actually "hopeful" and I had forgotten what that felt like...

^^^ Man, Duck, that is friggin awesome... down to 5mgs AND things are starting to look up!! Proud of you, man, I really am. That's a gigantic obstacle to hurdle. Seriously, reading that just brightened my whole morning... I just might chase down a neighborhood cat in honor of your success so far. :D I don't think using a 2.5gal 4horse compressor is a good idea though... first time I ever seen the white in a cats eyes, when I rolled that compressor out of the garage. :cool: Great job, Duck... keep on keepin on, man!!!

When it comes to constipation I have recently been having great success with a daily dose of 4 oz. of Activia yogurt. Not only does it taste good but I have now been having regular BM's on a daily basis which I haven't had for six or seven years. I'm not 100% "regular" but I am in a much better state and couldn't be happier. One day I actually shat out one solid uniform log instead of little rabbit turds. I would definately recommend it to any junkie looking to get regular.

Ass pounding aside, when I get really blocked up I use a tiny dose of naltrexone, like about .3mg (I just crush a revia pill and dilute with water). Call me crazy if you want but it works wonders. I do it first thing in the morning, there's very little discomfort, it's just enough to empty the bowels, and also makes the first dose of the day kick in better.

they need to drop the price of relistor thats the only downfall. activia works for some but theres no facts. and if other things can't live in the human stomach how can a bacteria. the acid turns coins into digestible matter, i don't think a bacteria could live through that and make it alive into the gastro tract. just my theory.
