Dunno if people outside the UK, or who read the tabs know who this kid is. He was the singer for the Libertines, and now Babyshambles. I think he's fucking brilliant, but he's famous, with a history for getting busted with H, crack, coke, or all of the above. Anyone have any opionions on him? Think he's doomed?

I first heard of him in American tabloids as the boyfriend of Kate Moss. I think the mention was actually in a piece about her being caught with coke.

Last I'd heard Doherty had gotten (or was in the process of getting) a naltrexone implant. I don't have any follow-up info on that, so I can't really speculate on how "doomed" he may be.

PS, it's funny you just changed your avatar to Jerri Blank of Strangers With Candy, because in the pic above, Doherty looks exactly like the kids on glint (the fictitious drug Jerri made in the show) due to the dark greasy coloration under his eyes.

I hope hes getting that implant, but he walks outta his house and the cops wait for him. he kicked a photog outside of court last week. he just constantly lands in trouble, and most of us know the more shit we fall into, the more we use. He was blamed for getting Kate Moss "hooked" on coke, but look at the waify bitch.

I missed that SWC episode. It was hard for me to catch, but 1pm Mondays chicago time on comedy central!

yeah I was gonna mention him in the thread about natltrexone implants because he had one. I think it was an option given to him in court that kept him out of jail.
also, it's spelled Doherty. he's a great musician and junky lol. I think the libertines were one of the best new bands in a while and babyshambles is a little different but they are still very good. wish they'd come do a tour in the US. Mick Jones from the Clash produced both bands.

I hope he gets clean though, cuz im with you man, they are underrated in the states for sure. But in the UK, it seems they were labeled pretty highly.

I didn't know Mick jones produced them, my dad and I both thought they sounded like The Clash, and he was a big fan of theirs. Good voice too, itd be a shame if he gets put away/dies. very possible with him.

Report: Babyshambles' Doherty Arrested

LONDON - Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was arrested Thursday, hours after a court appearance on drugs possession, according to media reports.

Police said a 27-year-old man was stopped in east London just after 2 p.m. by plainclothes officers and arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply. They did not name the man arrested, but the British Broadcasting Corp. reported it was Doherty.

The Metropolitan Police said the man and a 21-year-old companion were being questioned at an east London police station.

Earlier, Judge Jane McIvor had ordered Doherty to attend an 18-month drug rehabilitation program, placed him on two years' probation and banned him from driving for six months because of drugs possession.

Doherty had pleaded guilty last month to seven charges of possessing drugs including heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana, which police said they found when he was stopped once in December and once in January.

Prosecutors noted the rocker's flippant — yet open — demeanor when he was arrested Dec. 18, one of a long line of run-ins with police.

Court documents said that when police found plastic bags of crack cocaine in his right sock, Doherty told officers: "I didn't think I had it in there."

McIvor told Doherty she would adhere to his pre-planned drug rehabilitation regimen, choosing the dates of his court-ordered drug tests around his lengthy tour schedule.

"It's a long, slow process, but you are showing sufficient signs of compliance and effort," McIvor said. She noted that Doherty hadn't been arrested for drugs since Jan. 14.

Doherty arrived at Thames Magistrates' Court in a leather jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers instead of his customary wrinkled suit and matching fedora. He was mobbed by reporters and fans when he left court, and police hurried him into a taxi.

His drug problems gained international attention after a newspaper published pictures last year of then-girlfriend Kate Moss allegedly using cocaine at a music studio where Doherty and Babyshambles were recording.

In early February, another judge imposed a 12-month community service order and required Doherty to submit to regular drug tests.

Doherty missed a separate, court-ordered drug review April 12 after he was unable to return from Paris, where Babyshambles had played a concert, his representatives said. That case was adjourned until May.

He sounds like one of those guys who isn't only an addict, he's very self destructive as well. He seems to be constantly using coke and E, and I'm not sure if he's still got the implant or not... It's kind of sad, I've seen things he's written in jail and he's an intelligent, talented guy... but in interviews he often seems scattered and incoherant. I'm not sure if this is coming from heavy coke use, or if he's also bipolar or has other psychological problems. At the very least he's an extremely depressed guy.

Im with ya man. But I bet he writes a lot more nice shit in jail, cuz now hes on 2 years prob. and has to attend 18-month counseling? Its hard enough to stay clean for 2 weeks. I hope he can do it, but I doubt it. He def. need pysc. help, and I don't think he has the WANT to do it. god knows i don't want to talk about my problems with a stranger, that puts a microscope over every word that comes out of my mouth.
