The new device currently under development is a dental appliance, of removable or fixed type, that looks similar to natural teeth aligned in the patient's dental arch, thus allowing free eating and speaking. The device containing the medicine and delivery system is placed in the mouth and the medicine is released according to the patient's needs, for periods lasting days, weeks or months. The micro-system comprises a medication release mechanism, a built-in intelligence, micro-sensors, and micro-actuators. It will be possible to adjust the amount of medicine by a remote control available as a part of the system. The medicine released will either be absorbed by the oral mucosa or swallowed by the patient. The remote control will also inform the patient and physician if the drug container needs to be refilled, at which point the device can be reloaded with fresh medication in a simple non-invasive way.

According to the project partners, the benefits of the device for patients are its anatomical shape, assuring that the drug delivery is more discreet and less inconvenient than insulin pumps, yet with better control and adjustment of drug delivery in comparison to drug plasters and traditional pills. Non-invasive drug delivery to the oral tissues will replace injections, avoiding pain, discomfort and infections. Blood level of medication will be better controlled than in conventional administration, and if needed, a stable medication level in blood can be achieved, making the drug more efficient and reducing side effects.

Among the drugs used for testing the device will be insulin, used to treat diabetes; galantamine, used to treat Alzheimer's disease; and naltrexone, a drug that blocks all opiates from binding to opiate receptors in the brain, making drug addicts immune to the effects of heroin of morphine, and considered the most effective therapeutic weapon against overdose. The prototype will be ready and tested by the end of 2006 and the device is expected to be available on the market in 2007.

If they can do this then they could implant these types of things right into you skull!!
Give you weekly injections of Naltrexone!
That would make for a very large hurdle to overcome.

Feeling a little inspired today. Here's a short story.

The last uncleansed junkie stands alone by an untouched glimmering field of red poppies.....but wait!..whats that...it's junkies. Thousands of them!
"Yes come with me junkies!" screams the man.
"Come dance like Dorothy and the Cowardly lion! Let us suck the sweet sweet nectare of the Gods. Oh Hypnos! Oh Morpheus!"
As the junkies approach the man begins to recoil in horror as he notices a junkie reading Forbes magazine. Then a loudspeaker kicks on. After the initial static fizzles out there comes booming through the valley that one unmistakeable voice. Rush Limbaugh. Panic rushes up his spine through to his very soul.
Coming from the loud speaker"Jerry Garcia..aughle..Hes just another dead junkie"
"They must have got to everyone in town!" he screams as he scans the mob.
Thats when he notices his Jamie. He wells up.

As he wipes the tears from his eyes he notices that the lobotamized junkies are now close enough for him to see their arms fresh with scars some even still bleeding. These brave men were some of the very last to shoot up on this great planet. Now though they are carrying shears and axes and pushing lawnmowers. Just waiting for their chance to tear up the terra firma.
Sweat begins to pour down the mans face as he is backed into a corner of poppies on one side and junkies on another. Were it a different time this would have been a joyous moment. The Harvest.
Now with seconds left he knows what he has to do.
He digs in his pockets and pulls out his gear....Four Hypes....thirty cc's each that will do it. For sure.
He akwardly bends over and holds all fours hypes a few inches from his ass and just before plunging them all in he cant help but laugh at the position he is in and the squinty, takeing a shit, look he has on his face just before commiting suicide.

He feels a pinch and then is blinded by a bright light. Suddenly he is very cold. He feels a draft.
He feels a latex glove rest on his shoulder.
"That's the last one right Jim?" asks the nurse while pulling the needle out.
"Yeah Kath' that's it. At least for this district and from what I've been hearing there's been some resistance to the proceedures in the western most regions mostly in Neo-Cali and New Shang Hai City..." Jim takes off his gloves and takes Kathy's hand. "...Kath why dont you escort this boy out so we can be alone for a while?"
"Sure thing." Kathy takes Brian outside the clinic. Noone is waiting for him and the nurse doesnt seem to mind.

As the Purifimine really sets in Brian no longer remembers the dream. His expression goes from one of horrified confusion to one of tranquility.

Brian leaves the Purifimine clinic as the sunsets over a field of poppies. Without anyone using them they have become as abundant as Kentucky Blue Grass. He's thirsty so he goes to Starbucks were a girl named Jamie askes him what she can help him with.
He chooses a double Mocca Latte.

MY first week here I was using redsred as I love the darkness of the theme compared to the others.I have a phobia/tenderness to bright things w/all the Pharmacuticals I use.I can't stand bright things,but I'm getting used to it (a li'l).Anyways I'm kida glad I was using that at first because I didn't know therer were certain places thungs were suppose to be posted and therefore I posted them anywheres and I think it was aggravating a few plus I wasn't getting any more posts then "Are You Using Invisible Ink?"so I understand totally while if you are using reds red people are finding it near impossib le to read,but I love that reds red stuff too.,but I'm stuck w/ this Supa Lite for now until it gets changed or until I get used to it>Maybe I'll try typing W/ sunglasses on as the freakin' morphine makes me so sensitive ta light,but I ain't gonna stop the morph so its time ta either type in the dark or put the shades on.

I use reds red as well and when I can't read something I simply highlight it with the mouse. This way I can keep the red.

there is no reason to be alarmed. you can't be forced to take drugs in the US.
this is a bit off topic but on the subject of dental implants I really like what this company called Odontis from the UK is doing. they are working on a way to clone teeth from your body's own cells. a lot better than dentures or implants.

Next they'll have all of us wearing them and the nanomachines will also produce the meds right there in your mouth... they'll be programmable by remote and we'll never know WTF they've got us on.

It'll be used for population control, as an opiate for the masses if you will, but not in a good way. It will also be used to trigger psychosis for the purposes of political and social sabotage. It will also be used for birth control, or eugenics as its also known. And finally, it will be used for budget control.... after you have spent all the money you payed into the system, you will be eliminated.
