Hey everyone, I am new. This is my first post but I have been lurking around reading things here and there. I have found a few "first time" posts but none could really answer my question.
I got a bunch of 10mg methadone pills yesterday. I have never had methadone before. I have a high tolerence for vics and some other pills but I am starting to get sick from a lack of my usual supply. I don't know what is good for a first time dosage on methadone. Any advice is much appreciated!:D

well dones actually, i mean it depends on if you're just trying not to be sick or what. You won't get BLASTED from them, but I'd say no more than 30 or 40 if all you've done is vikes lately, got a boy who used to slam A LOT of dope, and he has MS, and done is the only thing he's on now, and he only takes 80. So there you go.

Start small and wait at least several hours before you take more.Don't mix with benzos or booze.


We'd need to know how many vikes you take and how often before giving a rough doseage,but even then it would be a guess.

word no doubt, if yu only take like 30mg or less of vikes then don't bother taking more than one, really, i would say.

everyone i know that's od'd did it on done. 1/2 or 3/4 of 1 should be all you need, 1 at the most. and can take 1 1/2 hours to start kicking in.

Done is metabolized at different rates from person to person. I wouldn't do more than 10 mg's the first time. Heed the warning that it takes awhile to come on, so don't try doubling up every half hour, or hour for that matter. It's very easy to get a toxic dose.

It is easy to OD on methadone--very small amounts have killed people--especially if mixed with any other drug, like Xanax, alcohol, other opiates, etc. The death rate from methadone has skyrocketed in the past few years, due mostly to it's increase in use as a painkiller (as opposed to for addiction treatment). Those who do not have a good, whopping tolerance (i.e., your average long term IV heroin user) can easily be blown away by methadone without even realizing it. You take one, maybe you are disappointed with the results (as it is usually more sedating than euphoria producing, and because it takes a lot longer than most opiates to take effect) so you take another one, still disappointed, a friend tells you to try a Xanax with it, so you do, maybe feel a little better, then you go home, go to bed--and die. This is happening A LOT--mostly with people who are "weekend warrior" type drug users without a real tolerance, or are new pain patients.

Methadone is just NOT a drug to play around with. After what I have seen I would never under any circumstances suggest it to anyone as a recreational drug, unless your idea of a good time is Russian Roulette.

Don't get me wrong--methadone saved my life. I have been on MMT for years now, and it works great for the purpose of stabilizing long term opiate addicts and normalizing disrupted brain chemistry. But don't take these kinds of chances--all it does is put your life at grave risk, and make the drug harder to access for those who do truly need it because of increasing regulations on what is already the most restricted medication on the planet.

Kaz, be extreamly cautious with those 10mg Methadone pills !
As one of our fellows here said, people take some Methadone, don't even realise nor feel that it's too much, then go home, go to bed in the evening, and never wake up.
Yes. That's the most fucked up thing with Methadone. As Phenobarbitone, it also kills in sleep when taken in excess.

So, don't take more than 30mg of it.

Fuck all that be careful stuff. Take as many as you can fit in your mouth and then repeat until you feel something. Oh yeah, whiskey makes them go down a lot smoother too.

Welcome to the board! I used to take methadone when I couldn't get my normal drug of choice. At the tiem I was taking about 100 mgs of Percs a day. I was quite comfortable taking one 10 mg methadone pill in the morning and one at night. Now this is to stay well, not to feel high. You have to remember that 'done builds up in your system. I would start off the first day with a higher dose, and then lower it each day for a couple of days. And like everyone said, start slow and give it time. It can take awhile to kick in, and what you feel one day may be quite different the next day.

i dont know about a newbie -my sister used to score me 40mg wafers from a friend of hers--she thought she'd try them to see what the fuss was about--she got pucking sick 4 -24 hrs--only good thing was it turned her off to all pills--anyway like any new thing take it slow

When I first started taking dones I would take 11 10mg tablet and I was good for about 8 hours. Now I can take 80-100mg's a day. So i would say you should take two to three of then at first. If you're not used to them you'll get really sick if you take to much TRUST ME!!!!
