Alright, I have thrown in the towel and I am going to the doc on Wed. to see about possibly getting on an antidepressant. Does anyone know the best one for junkies or recovering junkies? I am still on 1 mg of sub daily, but finally see the end of the tunnel with that. My wife takes effexor and likes it, but I have heard good things about paxil. I am very sensitive to the 'speedy' feeling of some medications; are some antideressants worse than others in regards to this? ( I took one of my wifes effexors and it felt like I went into withdrawal!) How long before the 'early' side effects (like the speedy feelings) wear off? What about the sexual side effects? I seriously need help, and anyone who can share anything about the SSRI's or the others will be my best friend.

I was told by my doc just before detox that Wellbutrin is the best. In my experience with it, things went well. I don't have many other med experiences to compare though, just passing this on. Also had nearly no side effects for me... I did, however, have an absolutely terrible time with Zoloft... of course these are all my opinions and its always very individualized...

I know that Paxil is prescibed often for this reason and is generally well tolerated.

Thanks, I am leaning towards paxil. My wife was on wellbutrin once and HATED it. Made her feel like crap. Whether or not that would happen to me is anyone's guess, but it scares me a little to try that one. Any other advice out there?
