so im thanking god i dont mess around with anything in my hometown but i guess shit is hitting the fan for a few of my friends.
So I guess one of the local dealers got raided the other day, and surprise surprise, names get spouted out. Currently i have a friend who has the cops coming around and questioning her a lot about names given out by the dealer. Apparently they are threatening to book her if she doesnt give out information on a few of the people they are looking for. They say they have "evidence" to book her if she continues to keep her mouth shut.
Im not an expert with police since im an angelic little boy that never breaks the law  but it is my opinion tat he cops are just bluffing and trying to scare her into naming names. and if they had enough to book her they would have just done it already.
at least it would seem like they woud make the chance to book her and THEN ask questions if they really had enough information to.
id justl ike some opinions for my friend (and this coudl possibly help other friends)
thank you guys

Typical police tactic. Maybe they have evidence, maybe they don't. Doesn't matter either way if she's scared. She's gonna do what she's gonna do behind closed doors. Chances are they'll drop her and move onto someone else that will snitch if she doesn't give them any info. Best advice is to tell her to hire an attorney and don't say anything without the presence of that attorney. I think you're right if she's not currently under arrest, nor was placed under arrest any time they harassed her in public.

tell her to zip it..
hirams advice is best....
advise her to not talk w/o a lawyer..
advise her not to say anything that could incriminate others as well, easier said than done i know.......

Not really they could have plenty to book her but just little stuff that would keep them tied up in paperwork and court and red tape etc for a while so they are coming down on her, make no mistake about it if they do have somthing on her and she don't playball they will book her just to show her whoes in charge and who are the big bad ass fucking pig lickers that got beat up as kids in school.
Without knowing much about the sit-u-ation, if it's short time take it, if it's long time roll like a cinnamon bun, and if need be roll like a stone out the state highway!!

i mean is swim deeply connected?

I'm not deeply connected to this situation at all except bits if info I've been hearing from my friends. (This is all in my hometown, which I don't live in but visit from time to time)
Basically there was this couple who would slang. Boyfriend got busted went to rehab. Came back n his girl was still slangin so he tried to kill himself via od. The po raided their place, took her phone and I guess she's been singin like a canary. Apparently she even said her boyfriend got the od dope from a girl that has nothing to do with them anymore or dope (she's recovering on subs and has been clean a while)
So apparently the girl who's being targeted by the police was recently asked by the dealer girl to drive her up to portland so she could reup, and her wanting to have nothing to do with this snitch she said no. The girl being targeted is an ex addict currently receiving sub treatment, so I'm not exactly sure what they are trying to bust her with. She's more of a friend of a good friend and I would hate to see anymore people get fucked. (An old friend who would reup alongside this couple got fucked)
I'm luckily clean of this cause I didn't really get into my hometown scene. and I stayed away from that couple cause 1. I don't live there and 2. I never got good vibes from them anyway.
Too bad for my hometown friends they were like the only source (I came from a small town)

That saying is older then the US of A, I believe, and it has NOTHING to do with stealing, it means amoung people that do the sort of things we do don't think some ones got your back, it could happen but it could also be the same guy that's put you on a slab w/ a sheet over your face and a tag on your toe thats all I'm saying. If someone knows you can finger him, I've seen peeps die for a lot less then just a 6 month term that all I'm saying, the best you you and yours, do the right thing for them not your friends, not your gang(not saying you are in one), not your nothing. Just do right by your family, that's all mate. Luck good. and

yup and just remember it is there "job" to be friends with ya just to loosten up your ass hole for the ass raping you will get when they can use your words against you or one of your brothers. when they are dressed in blue and are all shiny and shit...its there job to fuck you. Even out of the uniform you may want to walk like its thin ice
Cops are liars and you don't have to tell them shit. It is all too typical of them to claim they have all this evidence etc etc; it is a scare tactic to get you to talk.

Tell your friend this comforting fact - in a case like this, if the cops have enough evidence to put you away, they're not gonna wanna talk to you.

I agree with everyone else...they are trying to scare info out of them, and then use it against them.
They will do, say, act, anyway they can to get info.

Stop snitchin. Even if they press charges does not mean they have a case.

it all depends on what they have. they could have big things or little things. if she snitches she has to look at who its going to be against and what penalties she is facing. people are easy to manipulate to snitch. you don't know what you will do until you are in that situation. if you are facing a 10 year min mandatory sentence in the state prison then telling on someone may be music to ones ears . it all depends on your situation and who you have in your life.
theres a show DEA on spike.com watch that, and see how many people flip to become snitches. its amazing, 3 out of every 5 people flips.
as for the lawyer, sometimes that bothers cops if you say i want a lawyer, that could get you in more shit. the law is a fucked up thing, they can manipulate it any way they want to fuck you. so be careful.

I doubt she is facing 10 years. Do you know how much dope you need to get a a 10 year mandatory sentence? I think it is a key. I highly doubt she had it like that. If she did she would not be talking to her local police department she would me talking to the feds. She would not be going to a state prison either, she would be going to the feds. As crazy as it sounds she would be better off in feds than in a state prison. I know what show you are talking about. There is no excuse for snitching. Do not play the game if you cant handle the consequences.

is it just me or has this topic reached the boards here more than a few times these last fer weeks. with that said, is it feasible that with wire taps, and all, they could be monitoring a persons internet usage. i duno alott about all thta, and ive surely never been in the situation. but if it does happen to me i would think they were watching. simply because peopesay and show some incriminating things on myspace and the likes. i dunno, just a thot, as i see this sort of thread popping up more and more.

just keep your mouth shut --i've had lawyers tell me--"at least you didn't give a statement thats good for us' even they say "everything you say can and will be used against you" thats the only true thing a cop says---but now be careful because she probably ratted everyone else thinking she'll be alright
btw in south central LA there was an unwritten rule rat three u go free--a lot of junky hookers used that system-but the only guy we ever caught at had to face some bad shit

That's a very honest, and IMO, very true statement. No one ever admits to it, and I actually have seen a guy stomped bad in jail, and another killed in prison, just for unvalidated *rumors* that they had snitched, but it's it's really the quiet nasty secret underlying almost all criminal activities, and--outside of the movies--it's how cops really operate, any cop will tell you that...and also, one of the reason they scorn us so much, is because all convictt talk like they are bigtime gangsters, but in the clutch, they just about all flip...I never was in that horrible situation, as I was pretty much prepared to go to prison when I started my crime spree, and it's why all serious convicts talk about not doing the crime if you can't do the time, and there's nothing more ominous than somebody who starts saying they "can't jail," or "how much they love their kids" or any of that crap, because when yer rocking hard "out there," a snitch is *always* what brings you down, not "detective work..." you have to resolve up front, that you are going to hear those cold steel bars go clang clang, or you shouldn't be in this game...

i don't know anymore--we weretrained not to snitch from an early age-- also instilled was a real hatred of cops plus the time was less back then i had poss. for sale the max was 2years all they wanted was a name and they would drop charges i took it to trial and found out the cops fucked up big time breaking down a total strangers door thinking thats where i scored so i think that was good karma--also my first poss. of speed was a misdemeanor now everything is a felony---don't snitch

in florida if you get caught selling 90 lortabs you are facing a min. man. 25 years . each state is diff. it all depends on whats up. i have a friend that is doing 3-6 years for writing 4 vicodin scripts for 30 pills each , and he is an md. well was an md. now he has to wait several years to get his liscense back. it all depends on who you are up against and how much money you have for a lawyer. each individual situation is completely different in all aspects sometimes.

i haven't read all the responses but if they had something to fucking book him on, they would, and that is where the questions would be taking place.
fuck them they have fuck all on the kid. tell the kid next time to hand them a fucking business card for his/her lawyer and say "you can direct any questions you might have to this guy"
then they will shit or get off the pot.
of course i wouldn't that... i would just tell the cops i knew fuck all.

the more and more i see and hear from people. if you lawyer up right away that seems to fuck you even more. litterly, it does. i would not lawyer up unless you have to. if you are facing a murder charge then it might be ness to lawyer up. but if you lawyer up right away, then the cops are just playing hard ass and going to fuck you in any way you can. sometimes you have to play their game. and lawyering up shuts that off right away even if you dont want what they got. but at least if you do let the communication line open it kinda shows some willingness if you do not do shit. you can still stay open and just not to shit then lawyer up. but lawyering up first is what really pisses them off, and most of the time it is going to get you the major shaft. this is not proven it is just from what i witness, if you close off everything they do the same, and that can be a bitch in the courtroom when the da is hearing your case.
in no way am i a lawyer or anything im just saying from my witnessing of others and from what i have seen in my life if you close off all communication it does not benifit you in the long run.
you can do what you want im just sharing what i think. it might seem totally fucked in your eyes thats why they are your eyes. good luck

I heard someone say they're bluffing cause if they knew they'd just put her away. No, They might know EVERYTHING, like knowing she's small time and talking to her to walk up the ladder. That's how this ish works.
SWIM got popped in queens last month. Convinced the cop swim was small time and knew nothing bout nothing. They wanted SWIM to call someone for a bun. SWIM told em The dope boys won't serve me hand to hand yet, they don't trust SWIM yet, etc. etc. can't call the connect, swim knows a guy who knows a guy, thats it. they even said swim could keep the shit, they didn't want swim. grimey mothers, but that's how this works. gotta catch minnows to use as bait, dig it?
Good connects take care of their clientel though. The number has three dudes, and they've been around, they've spent a night or 10 in booking between them. SWIM saw the judge at 10am, called dude at 11, 1130 met SWIM at a nice italian diner across from queens central booking, bought SWIM lunch, tossed SWIM a bun and gave SWIM dough for the subway and train. Make someone enough money and they'll hook you up. Why help the cops, the dudes appreciate loyalty and cops even respect a man, they're nutrasweet to a snitch and then only cause they need em.

Right, right.
The feds put so much pressure on my guy to talk and he wouldnt. They ended up coming to our house a few times a week, and once I bonded him out of jail he got back to selling asap and dealing with his connect that they wanted him to snitch on. We were at home one day, and we had been shooting crack so we were hella geeked. We had a customer come to the door, and we let him in. He stayed for an hour and was in the middle of taking a hit of a pipe when I was looking out the window and saw 2 black suburbans pull up. All I could do was freeze. The next moment we hear this loud "bang bang bang ST LOUIS BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION." My guy looked at the crackhead and put his finger to his lips to motion him to shush and stay where he is, because in our state they cant actually come in unless they hear that u are inside. So Im hiding behind the couch, and you know how is when u have just taking a crack hit.....the crackhead couldnt resist going to the peephole. He walks two steps and the floor creeks..LOUD. We hear them open the letter slot, and yell that they know were are home. Then it all breaks loose.. Down comes the door, in they come. Luckily my guy had just sold the last gram and last 8 ball so the only person arrested was the customer that was there after they searched him. I felt bad but if he woulda kept his crackhead ass still. Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread. They put so much pressure on us we moved so I could go to nursing school in peace. Of course my guy ended up doing lots of time after probation violations and parole etc. AND he got the sales on his record. I remember the cop telling him, you are the stupidest white boy I ever met, b.c he remained silent. and they were SO persistant,
Good Luck for your friend.

So, is this here in PDX?
If so, is it Portland police or green beans (Multnomah county sheriff's department)??
Either way, or if it's not even here, this much I can say for sure:
The cops lie. Routinely, they will say that they have 'info' or whatnot. They don't. Tell your friend to just keep quiet. She doesn't know anything, period. No names, nothing.
The fact of the matter is, 1). If they did have info, she'd be arrested already, and 2). They use this tactic every day, unfortunately with much success, I'd imagine.
Fuck them.
