The colors don't really effect the high per say. Hell I have seen Purple buds before and they haven't been significantly different other than the exotic color. The high depends more on the strain's genetics. there are two main types of Marijuana; Sativa and Indica. The Sativa's produce a more energetic, "heady" or mental high. This is ALL year around, gronwn hydroponically, Sea of Green. The strain is Jack Herer, it's a Sativa/Indica mix. The high is definately more Sativa-ish. Really trippy, almost hallucinogenic. It fucks with your senses BAD! It goes for $300 an ounce.

most weed is a mix of the two. predominantly indica plants have more of that sweet smell that people associate with "kush."

As Jonny says,you're unlikely to find totally pure indica and sativa.Most weed is a mix of phenotypes.

I believe sativa has smaller,thinner leaves,but I could be wrong-it wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah some Indica can produce some ultra dense buds. This is Afghani (pure Indica), check out the 5 gram bud. Our gardener friend has about 4 or 5 different strains.

The last Cannabis garden I had was 3 summers ago. I grew outdoors with 100 gallon pots in the middle of some wetlands (Cat-tails). I had to elevate the pots with a folding table and smash the cattails down in a circle around the table to open up the sky. I grew a 90% Indica/10% Sativa hybrid (Northern Lights #5) The strain was very pest/mold resistant. I had an EXCELLENT crop that year... the buds were picture perfect and fully mature by Oct. 1st. I think I ended up with about 8 ounces.

I only grew for myself and close freinds, never really tried to make lots of money growing weed. But even with the small scale operations I'd set up I started to get too nervous. Especially with my daughter getting to be 2 and 3 years old... I just didn't want to risk it, couldn't afford to get caught growing... I would've got 2 years in prison easily.

Sucks when I have to buy 1/8 oz. for $60 now!

I hear that Papa. A few years back, before we owned our own home, this gardener set us with a 1000 watt HPS and ballist, and a wicked homemade hydroponic system, and 15 clones of Afghani. He left us with one piece of advice: Don't tell a soul, not even you best friend in the world and you'll be ok. Well it was hard not to tell anyone at all when you have 15 plants of "High Times" quality weed that you are growing but we didn't tell anyone and made it through without anyone finding out. I don't know how the smell didn't arouse the attention of our friends that came to visit but it didn't. I was so stressed out those months, I vowed I would never do it again!!! To stressful, I was paranoid of heat sensors and shit.:o Yikes!!

LOL ZK!! The gardener charges $300/OZ, he has been producing the same quality of bud since I met him over 8 years ago. He does like 4 or 5 different strains. He doen't do this one strain as often because it doesn't produce like the Afghani, Chronic, and Northern Lights do. It's really a crazy strain, Jack Herer is the name. Mostly Sativa, soaring HIGH. This is what we got taken for, a QP.....I'm in debt:o
EDIT: You would have to be pretty desperate or pretty stupid to scam/rip off someone who can give you this in large quanity, ALL the time. Don't ever fuck the gardener or the person introducing you to the gardener.:mad: Dumb fuck!

The going rate here would be $60-65 an 1/8 but I just can't do that, so if I help a friend out it's $50. Depending on the person and what type of mood I'm in I might let people have it at cost or close to.

I hear you Narko! Weed makes me paranoid too. I used to be a huge weed head but not so much anymore, in fact not at all. My SO smokes still though. But I have to say, even though I'm not into smoking weed much I do still admire the hell out of killer dank nugs. I love the plant, it's beautiful and fascinating. I grew a few times and loved doing it, you know putting all the time and effort into it and the end result looking like the nugs in these pictures. Only thing is it's very stressful growing for fear of getting caught. If it wasn't for that I would have done it more often.

The strain does make a difference in the effects it has on you. Indica strains tend to be more relaxing and lazy. Sativa strains tend to produce more of a "high". Haze (type of Sativa) has a tendency to cause the racing pounding heart and paranoia. The bud in the pictures in an Indica/Sativa mix, it's called Jack Herer. The genetics are rumored to be Skunk X NL #1 X Haze. It definitely has the Sativa "high" and you can tell there are Haze genetics. It makes your heart race, very trippy, energetic, hallucinogenic at times!! I took two hits the other night and after a while I had to take an Ativan, :o

Yeah, I don't know if it's me, or if I just had really really good weed when I used to smoke it, but I'd always get paranoid (looking out the windows, was convinced the cops had somehow found out and was on their way to get me, that demons were playing mind-games with me, and if I lost I'd die), pounding heart, anxiety, and the hallucinations were almost acid-like. I'm assuming that all the pot I've smoked has been Sativa then, or at least a mix of mostly Sativa. If there was a way to get the head high without the anxiety, I think I'd like it, because I do like the "stoned" feeling, the time warp, and the laughter, but I just can't stand the paranoia. I also love pot for it's body relaxing qualities. I used to love to just lay down and progressively relax all my muscles in my legs, back, etc. It just felt really really good. Also, I'm sure I'd like the Indica strain better, especially if it's more of a body high. But yeah, I've never grown...way too paranoid to do that. I did try to grow poppies once, but it just sort of happened. I threw out a bunch of seeds from making tea one time, and they sprouted. But they were way too close together, so they didn't grow very big at all, and most died. But the very small pods that they did produce (I"m talking smaller than a grape...very very small) were very bitter. I think they were Persian Whites because they were from white poppy seeds, the kind you get at Indian grocery stores, and because I think I read that Persian Whites produce white seeds and are smaller, but a lot more potent (higher morphine content). But, that's all I've ever grown. Your pics are really pretty. I can see why you'd get a huge sense of accomplishment out of growing something like that.

then filter and evap, leaving 'honey oil'?

edit: if any NP solvent extraction is going to be done, it is recommended to first heat the plant matter to 200 degrees F for 7 minutes
to decarboxylate the cannabinoids.
Also, if someone dreams of this, weigh the dried herb (after heating) and the residue after evap and report the weight % please.
Or just report the mass of each and I'll take it from there :)

The oil is highly soluble in np's as well as ethanol and methanol, as well as other things. True hash has plant matter in it; hash "oil" doesn't, it's just THC and CBD tmk..

Seems most NP's dramatically affect the end product. Certain brands of butane apparently work really well at washing the oil off and evaping near 100% clean, I think the temp affects the end product, colder keeping chlorophyll and natural waxes out, leaving a purer product than say a pure alky wash, C02 under pressure apparently works well too..

And re: filters: I knew there was something out there.

Cannabinoids are an oil produced on glands on the plant - if you get the glands (trichomes) fairly cold, they'll snap off the leaf with agitation in cold water, and then it's easy to filter the hash @ <100 microns, people usually do a 70-80 micron wash and then a 20-30 micron wash. At the lower level is the best of the best, obviously and aside from the good oil..

Companies sell bags to do this for like $50 a filter level - fuck that.. again - that hash oil up there is no joke, and dirt cheap to make from what I understand..

I see. Well the CO2 supercritical fluid, and the butane, both are under pressure unlike hexane etc,
but do provide a cleaner product faster as the higher BP solvents take longer to evap completely.
None of the above will degrade the product, or require heating, but time exposed to the air to evap the higher BP solvents must be considered.
So, use a vacuum, or use pressure. Evaping under reduced pressure is usually the easiest way, def much more so
than constructing a pressurized container for supercritical CO2 or even butane.
I'm speaking about a small-time, personal setup here. Obviously a large-scale operation would use a pressurized system and CO2.

So as long as the trichomes don't rupture, using water as a carrier to get them into a filter sounds nice for a hash type product.
But I don't think you use a hydrophobic filter material to do this.
It would be like filtering an aqueous solution, which calls for hydrophilic filters.
Why did you ask about 'water proof' filters?
I've never done this specifically, but a fine paper filter, buchner funnel, filter flask and water aspirator would seem like the easiest and cheapest method for recovering intact trichomes from water.
But I'm just speculating, there may be an even easier way if they all float or sink, which I don't know.

I make honey oil myself using an extraction tube I made for $1.25 at Home Depot...if anyone wants my "recipe" and building instructions let me know, it's really easy to do and makes insane product. BTW I use Colibri brand butane to do it, it's the cleanest commercially available butane to use for a hash oil extraction. They do sell Bubble Bags which is something like you guys are talking about (chopstix and mayo) but they are expensive as fuck and make a totally different product. If you want to go the cheap way, let me know and I'll teach you the garbage bag and washing machine method :)

Here's the pan that I scrape the gooey oil off of, need to use a razor blade. The bubbles are from the butane air escaping during the reaction (you have to put this glass pan into a hot water bath, lay it on top of a big bowl of hot water) so that you are left with the pure THC.

Don't know if many of you are interested in Landraces but they are definitely worth investigating.

Nope, those are 100% Female Sinsemilla, no seeds. Those are calyxes, they are actually tiny flowers. You are just used to seeing buds that form differently, where the calyxes expand and/or are surrounded by leaves. When the calyxes grow stacked on top of each other they form long thin buds with few or in this case no leaves. They call buds with stacked calyxes foxtail or foxtailed. It occurs most often in landrace Sativas. Alot of Jamaican buds will be foxtailed.

The Jack pictures were taken by me. The Afghani landrace pictures do not belong to me. I found them when researching landrace strains and the photographer is unknown.

Oxyjon- None of the buds I posts pictures of are immature. If you are talking about the pictures of the pure Afghani landrace, no they are fully mature. That is just how they look, there are very few if any leaves in the buds; just calyxes which are the small female flowers where trics form, the pistils (hairs) grow from, and then they eventually form buds. The pistils (hairs) grow out of the calyx. No one here has every seen a strain that is foxtailed? If you look at your buds closely you will see the calyxes. Most strains buds form from a combo of calyxes and leaves, that is why they appear bigger and more dense. Some strain produce their buds with very few, sometimes no leaves with the calyxes and you will get what is called foxtail buds, which a groups of hundreds of calyxes stacked on top of each other. The picture someone posted in this thread of the Jamaican bud is a foxtail bud. Take a look at it, you'll see the same ball shaped calyxes stacked up. The pictures of the Afghani landrace I posted are fresh buds the have not been dried or cured yet, with the exception of the deep purple colored one; that bud is dried. The rest of those buds dried will look like the deep purple bud. All buds look very different when the are fresh than they do once the are dried and cured, imo; especially if they haven't been manicured.

I have more pictures of some EXOTIC landraces that are so bizzare looking you will flip. I'll post some today. I belong to a forum for people interested in marijuana breeding and genetics, landraces are highly sought after because of their rare genetics. Many are being used to make new more commercial strains. People travel the world to harvest seeds from these landrace strains for breeding projects. Isn't anyone else into landace strains?

Yes, my friend is a crazy grower who went on a trip to SE Asia collecting landrace strains from Thailand, Burma and Vietnam. He grew a couple strains, including "dalat" from Vietnam as well as a bunch of awesome shit from Burma. He took the best strains from Burma (the landrace strains) and combined them to make the best hybrid of the landrace strains, and then took that and combined it with reeferman sour diesel seeds from Amsterdam to create "burmese diesel" - best weed I've ever smoked, hands down. I've seen plenty of buds like you are showing. Let me see if I can dig up some pictures.

EDIT: The Jamaican shit was posted by me, I have lots of experience in growing and smoking the best nug the world has to offer, lol. It was an entirely straight 100% sativa, same with the SE Asian shit. I'll post up some more pics of the Jamaican shit too.

Wooo, I'm also glad someone knew what I was talking about regarding landraces, calyxes, and foxtailed buds. I was thinking people thought I was nuts! In regards to the black plant, I believe the person had more than one because they cloned the pheno. And you are right about that African strain, looks nothing like the weed we are used to seeing.

Landraces grow in their native countries wild usually with no or vey little intervention from humans. Sometimes they are kept up by a local gardener. They have never been crossed with another strain. They are mostly unknown until some brings them or their seeds out of their native country to grown or use to cross it. The Afghani I posted pictures of supposedly brought to the UK by a British Soldier who brought the seeds taken directly from a plant growing wild in Afghanistan

Only the Afghan, African, and black plant, which I beleive was Lebanese are landraces. The Flo is a hydrib from Seni Seeds, I think. The Rainbow pheno is just an extremely rare phenotype, you might be lucky to get one out of every 100+ seeds. Like Wihite Widow, all of you have heard of that right? There is a purple phenotype of White Widow, very rare! The Jack Herer that I posted, there is an EXTREMELY rare cinnamon phenotype of it. Breeders who are lucky enough to get these phenotypes from there seeds will clones them, cross them or backcross to try to preserve some of it's rare characteristics. So I'll dig up something for today. Do we want a colorful rare pheotype or a landrace today?

The African, like DB said, has high concentrations of THCV, it causes the almost hallucinogenic, heart racing, trippy cerebral high in Sativas, especially Haze varieties. That shit will probably make most of us get paranoid.

Not all landraces are Sativas. You will mostly like find landrace Sativa in countries south of or near the equator because of the long-flowering cycle. Places like Thailand, Jamaica, Cambodia, Columbia, Mexico, etc. I prefer Sativa so most of my collections is of Sativas. I don't care much for the heavy body high of the Indica. I'll post some Indicas.

About Ruderalis, I think jack asked. It is an auto-flowering species of Cannabis that is being used by breeders now to make those low-ryder auto-flower strains like. They go from seed to finish in as little as 65 days and the plants stay about 2.5-2 feet tall.

Is DJ short blueberry sold by dutch passion?

i cant get any DJ short ANYWHERE i go, everyones always like "dude, we just sold the last 8th"

they prob WILL have the seeds, but its a fairly new strain, idk if its gotten around to some of the major distributors yet.

Yes, Stephen King Dark Tower Series but not the book, it was one of the editions from the new comic book series. My hubby looks Stephen King and has read and LOVES everything by him especially The Dark Tower Series, so he grabbed the first few editions of this comic book series to check it out. He talks about Roland like I'm supposed to know him, LOL!:D

you said the strain was jack herer? WOW, last time i checked, jack herer seeds were $10 a PIECE when pretty much every other kind was around $1. its extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely expensive bud and not very popular. you got realllly lucky if its real jack herer. wow,. thats top shelf

Three quickies before I rush off to bed -- first image is a White Rhino which in my opinion is some seriously strong indica, followed by the Pot of Gold that was just all around a really solid crop and lastly the Cotton Candy that absolutely does its name justice. You just wanna keep pinching it and sniffing all day long it's so gorgeous and the taste is some of the most insanely sweet ganj I've ever had the pleasure of inhaling. Real solid genetics.
