What's the WORST thing that could happen as a result from a missed shot of H ?

I am at the point where I'm missing about 50% of my shots now due to lack of veins. When I go in my hand and miss , it sometimes radiates to the base of my finger and the inside of my palm , making it impossible to close my hand for 4 or 5 hours , but yeah , it goes away.

What is the absolute end-all of consequences from such a thing ? I know the Requiem for a Dream answer , but that guy was stupid. I don't understand the scene in the car with Marlon Wayans when he pulls his sleeve back , revealing a necrotic arm straight out of Dawn of the Dead and Marlon's character says , "Bro , that looks bad. You're not going to shoot i that thing , are you? " and Jared's character replies, " I have to or else I'll blow it..."


What the FUCK does that mean? Blow WHAT? The vein in that zombie arm ? That one's already a goner.... What was he talking about? Basically , for the plot to work , he somehow has to shoot in the freak arm so it will lead to the amuptation....

Anyway , sorry for the segue , but that's been bothering me. I know you can risk amputation if you're retarded and keep banging into necrotic , black tissue , but what are some other results ??


I'd like to hear the one-in-a-million answers as well as the more likely ones.

eh, i did that shit fer years, where i'd hit in my palm and my hand would swell way up fer hrs
i wasn't missing a lot, just wrecking the SHIT out of nerves and other stuff in my hand
from what i've seen, it just leads to shitty shitty circulation

Well this isn't from missing but you could get Meningitis from bacteria in the H.

That would be pretty fucking bad. Or a stroke from poor filtering, that would suck.

i've never seen anything as bad as Requiem for a Dream---but i have seen people with multiple abcesses at the same time--i've had 2 really bad ones that required ER visits and IV antibiotics--look for new veins like ankle-my left ankle vein lasted almost 2years---their are alot more veins than hands and arm---get an anatomy book youll be suprised;)

I believe you. It is hard to realize how easily you can get taken down by something that started as a small infection.

I know two people who almost died from staph as a result of small cuts/scratches (my dad had a small cut on his elbow and he was in the hospital, with twenty four hour iv antibiotics, and surgeons getting ready to take off his arm...)

Another young person I knew, a fellow artist. Cut his knee on a sprinkler head, playing softball, and he too got a staph infection and because he had an undiagnosed kidney disorder, the combination killed him.

But it's always hard to believe it could happen to you, because we all get cuts and scratches (and missed shots,) and they heal up ok.

I am still waiting to hear back from Blutuesday (Whoah, I just checked, she is ok. But it looks like her abscess ended up making her extremely sick.)

Yeah,he'd been shooting for years(decades) and one of his last veins was in his groin area.He showed me his leg and it was discoloured and clearly badly abscessed(you could actually smell decay).Like the dumb,desperate fool he was he just kept shooting in the same area.I told him to get to a hospital.Next time I saw him,he was on crutches and missing his leg from the thigh down.
He was shooting H,C and eggs(temazzies).Weird thing is that he didn't seem that bothered.

Ive read of many more accounts of people losing limbs from shooting the old eggs than H. Probably cause its so much damn worse for ya.

Sure man,many,many mazzie amputees in England.They changed the eggs to try and make them non abusable,they did this by adding a gelling agent,but if you heated them it became fixable-briefly.They reverted to gell in the body.Nasty,nasty stuff.

The guy I mentioned above wasn't a mazzie accident.His was a result of prolonged unhygenic injections causing infection.
He really had it coming,I once saw him use milk to cook his dope up when he didn't have access to water.That really was stomach turning.

I don't think that the non junkies who watched the film would have noticed that. I hated the fact that every time they shot dope they showed a close-up of their pupils dilating but again, john q public wouldn't know the difference.

I dated a woman who was getting her master's degree in film from Columbia University and every time we watched a movie we had to have a discussion about it and it kind of ruined movies for me for a while because I can't help but be critical now. Suspending disbelief got even harder and I'll never watch movies the way I used to. The sex was great though.

It really is not uncommon when we start losing veins to miss shots.
But to avoid abscesses, apply warm compresses to the area of the missed shot. This will allow the fluid sitting in the tissues to be absorbed into the body much faster and prevent infection. Infection starts when the fluid sits under the skin in the tissues and bacteria in the body is able to multiply quite quickly in this "puddle" of water, so to speak.

So warm compresses for at least the first twenty four hours.
Also remember that abscesses are also due to dirty or unclean techniques.
You don't have to be sterile, but doing a few things can really save you from abscesses or infections like endocarditis, which is generally associated with IV drug use. Endocarditis is an infection in the lining the surrounds the heart. The heart sits in lining called the endocardium and certain bacteria are more commonly found to affect this area.

Wash your hands and the area you are going to hit, if you don't have alcohol swabs. Make sure you keep your rigs clean as well. recap them and wash your hands before and after your hit. Cause the shit you are injecting is full of all kinds of shit that can make you sick.
Thankfully most of us have been exposed to theses bugs so we have a immunity to them.

And after an IM injection, rub the area to help the fluid be absorbed and you may also feel your high a bit better sometimes.
Regardless of Sub-Q, IM, IV, injections; always use clean techniques and keep your spoon or cooker clean and use clean water.......Nothing grosser than someone using water to cook with that has been sitting around for weeks and they use it to rinse with as well. It takes on some ugly looking muddy appearance.

I have gotten a few abscesses that I had to see a doc about to get them drained. In fact I have one now on my foot. Feet shots are no good because of low circulation there. Most of the time it when you skin pop or muscle it the spot is sore for a few days, is swollen and (I) get that weird histamine reaction where you have red patches all over the spot. The only thing I really worry about is that flesh eating shit from shooting tar. I lost a friend to that and another one had a hole cut in her leg so big you could stick a entire toilet tissue roll in there.

Yeah though abscesses are the only things I have ever gotten. If I know I cannot hit, I filter the shit out of it and add more water. It might just be me, but it makes me feel "safer" lol right?

Yeah, people do.
There was this couple who used to live with this guy a few apartments down from me years ago and they were just about the nastiest two people I have met. But, they had a glass of water sitting by their bed that looked like the color of weak tea that they used to cook and rinse with. The glass looked so dirty and the water was just f**king gross.
I had only been back there by accident looking for the guy who lived there and ran into these two lovely specimens of the human race.
She had tried to over me a cookie laying on some plate with other crap on the plate I couldn't describe. I just said no nicely, but she was one who could not take no for an answer. Like I was hurting her feelings not wanting to eat her cookie.
Finally, I took it, walked out of the room and trashed it. There was no way I would eat anything out of that room or let alone anything those two touched.

But, you would be surprised what you see out there and I had the priveledge of this when I worked case management for those with HIV and then those who I worked with when I did research for co-infection with HIV/HCV. The stuff I saw would make my stomach turn and often times I had to turn my head to avoid being seen gagging. This was in L.A. and Hollywood area.

Some of those junkies were the dirtiest people I had seen in some time. And when I tried to get a few services to get their homes cleaned or help for them in getting clean, which by the way I mean, clean like in taking a shower, they would get pissy and deny services like those.

Crazy shit we will put up with when we are sick and high!

That annoys the hell out of me too. I just saw a documentary about a psychward and some idiot 18 year old kid-social-worker was saying that so and so was on heroin because his pupils were dilated. :rolleyes:
