Does anyone have any information on Dihydrocodeine Tartrate in relation to Codeine Sulphate?

I just bought a box of Paramol, they were damned expensive too, more than three times what normal codeine tablets cost.

They contain 500mg paracetamol and 7.5 mg Dihydrocodeine Tartrate and I'm just wondering how much stronger I can expect these to be than tablets that contain 500mg paracetamol and 8 mg Codeine Sulphate.

generally from what I've heard, dihydrocodeine is about twice(?) as potent as normal codeine. But it's still not on the same level as hydrocodone apparently. I would guess that your dihydro tablets would be about 1.5 times as strong as the codeine tabs.

ive tried them, id say they are around twice as stronge as codiene..

Yeah, it does feel about twice as strong. Its a cleaner high too, shame they are so expensive.

It amazes me that you can buy Paramol without prescription here in the UK because you can get very high on just one box and we are bunch of rule crazy conformists at the end of the day.

I have A LOT of experience with both! when i get codeine tabs i always get 1 box of the paramol for when i would go off the codeine. Dihydro. is a messy cloudy feeling. It doesnt feel as good as codeine at all (if thats what you want it for). The last two times i bought it, i bought it because my back wasnt doing great and i knew i wouldnt have a temptation to "abuse" it. It helps a little with pain, but i honestly think codeine is a better choice, why? You can take 4-5 of the codeine 12.5mg, you can only take two of the dihydrocodeine. APAP is dangerous to fuck around with.

hi there im in new zealand and use a kilo of poppy seeds daily (sometimes 2)
hav been for 2 years now ...very addicted i must say
on the days i dont do seeds i use DHC continus 60mg (between 10 and 12)
that usually keeps away the WDs except at nite when i sweat heaps and cant sleep
anyway i want to know about KRATOM and OXY and if its avalible in new zealand

Hey Kiwistoner, we have lots of sub-forums on kratom and oxycodone too. Kratom is illegal in Australia, but NZ I am not sure of.

Hey, that IS pretty amazing that you can buy dihydrocodeine (DHC) w/o an Rx in the UK.

Man, APAP is not as bad as people say. Now, maybe I just have a cast-iron liver, but I was taking at one point about 30 lortab 10/650's a day. That's 10mg hydrocodone and 650mg of APAP each. Do the math and that is 19.5 GRAMS of APAP day. I didn't get liver damage from that, and this habit went on for about 6 months - I would switch to norco 10/325's sometimes or the pink lortab 10/500's, but all of it has APAP in it. I had my liver tested after I ended up in rehab (big surprise, huh?) and although my liver enzymes were high, there was no permanent damage and I was o.k. after a few months. Now, don't anybody get the wrong idea from that, I just mean that a few times of taking a large dose of acetaminophen is not going to kill you, granted, people got different constitutions and what not, I mean, I've heard of females killing themselves by taking only like 10 grams of acetaminophen, so maybe I am a little unusual in that respect. One thing for sho' - if I had kept on taking that much acetaminophen, no doubt I'd have no fucking liver left - this habit I was talking about was going on back in 2000, so I think I would have kiilled myself by now if I kept it up...


Oh, and my experience with DHC is that it's about twice as strong as codeine, but it DOES give a better, more euphoric high. I can't take large doses of codeine either, more than about 90mg and I break out HUGE hives. Every other opiate doesn't do that to me, but codeine, man, it's miserable. morphine don't do it, hydro don't do it, heroin don't do it, DHC don't do it, poppy pods don't do it (even though they have SOME codeine in 'em), dilaudid don't do it, oxycodone don't do it, well you get the picture, the only phenanthrene opiate that makes me break out in hives is codeine. Ain't that strange?:confused:

Perhaps you have a cyp2d6 enzyme deficency to make you have such a reaction to codiene Zoop. I think something like 7% of the white population cannot produce this enzyme at all and it is variable throughout the rest of the population... this is why so many people claim to be "allegic" to codiene. It makes the adverse effects of codiene more pronounced and the euphoric enjoyable effects less.
