What just happpened?

Last night I took 1mg of ativan and did a really small amount of dope, (kinda stupid, I know) and took a nice shower. After I got out I started shaking uncontrollably, and got the worst headache I've ever had, then vomited, and the headache smoothed out after that. It was all over the course of about 15 minutes.
Does anybody know what could have caused it? I don't think it was cotton fever, seeing how it only lasted about 15 minutes, although I had used the same cotton the previous night.

May not have been related to your drug intake at all. Migraines and Cluster Headaches can both appear qucikly and disappear just as fast, sometimes causing the person to experience the worst pain they have ever felt. Do you have a history of migraines?

This has happened to me before. When you were shaking did you feel extremely cold and all the muscles in your body get real tense? (like shivering X10) Then a real bad headache, nausea/vomitting followed by a yawning spell?

I'm serious, this has happened to me several times in my life fairly randomly. I've mentioned it to doctors and they look at me funny and call it anxiety or something stupid like that.

I don't know what the fuck it is, but it sucks, and it's happened to me when I was sober, high, taking benzos, whatever... I doubt it's related to anxiety.

I always suspected it was some kind of seizure. Because the word "Seizure" describes it pretty well. Maybe we're epileptics... I'm going to read about different kinds of seizures and see if it's possible. But it's strange you say that's exactly what happened to you. I've never met anyone else who really knows what the fuck I'm talking about.

I've never had a full-blown seizure before, but my dad has rare seizures, and we both have history of nervous tics. I suppose it could have been some kind of seizure, which would lead me more to believe it was not drug related.

I don't think you had a seizure. It could be cotton fever.
I would just stay away from mixing your drugs and maybe wait to take a shower a while longer after injecting.
I almost wondered if that could of been a cause, a hot shower. I guess it depends on how warm the water is.

The being extremely cold part sounds like cotton fever. Ive had this discussion on the board before and that seemed to be the consensus. I wasnt really sure, but I noticed it always happened to me when I shot a small amount of dope.

ive never heard of cotton fever lasting only 15 minutes. its prolly something not drug related since papa describes the same thing happening whether using or not.

I'm thinking it had to be cotton fever, because I used that cotton again, just to see, and the same thing happened. Might have been more than 15 minutes, not sure, I was too busy shaking and screaming over my headache.

and btw - you don't even have to use cotton as a filter to get 'cotton fever' - it's basically a dirty hit - a bacteria or a foreign object (like even a very tiny spec of cigarette ash for instance) getting into your bloodstream that can set it off

just a suggestion though - i'm obviously not a doctor, and even if i was - it's damnn hard to give out a proper 'diagnosis' over the internet

edit - i just read your last post just now and you're probably spot on - so called 'cotton fever' is probably a very likely suspect in your case here

I mentioned cotton fever in the original post, and it is my best bet. I'm just going to assume that it was cotton fever.

Pharmboy - like i say - you don't even necessarily need to use cotton or any similar type filters to get what we refer to as 'cotton fever'

i red a very interesting report of people getting 'cotton fever' or at least the exact same symptoms and duration of them under 'HOSPITAL SETTINGS' with presumably 'sterile environment' but as we all know even under hospital settings the environment can be far from 100% sterile, so.....

So after those people were IV'd (with morphine or hydromorph or pethidine/demerol (most likely) as far as i can remember - unimportant anyway) in those 'sterile' hospital settings, a short while after their shot they got precisely the same symptoms that we know of as 'cotton fever'

I'm willing to bet a large part of my monthly salary the culprit here is not even necessarily bacteria which might have resided in cotton or any similar type filters

the culprit could most likely be either certain types of bacteria and/or any other synthetic foreign particle (like dust, etc) and it doesn't take a lot of it, as you might guess - we're talking microscopic amounts - not even visible to the naked eye]

it's even been mentioned in some English or Scottish study paper (or just plain article - i forget) that you are more likely to get 'cotton fever' if you have a cigarette in your mouth while prepping or cooking up your shot
even a tiny fleck of cigarette ash they claim, is enough to set off the exact same symptoms as cotton fever

myself, i have gotten cotton fever during my IV coke binges (with no filters and brand new spikes around i had re-used the old spikes and within a pretty short while had gotten your very classic 'cotton fever' symptoms

there is a sound theory (in my view) - that 'cotton fever' is nothing more than an allergic reaction of your body rejecting a foreign particle - be it bacteria residing on cotton or a tiny spec of cigarette ash that you unknowingly dropped into your shot, and a microscopic amount is all it takes, apparently

the way that theory explains it is that your body goes into a very sudden overdrive, as soon as a foreign particle enters your bloodstream and your body/immune system clocks it as a foreign object and throws a fit, so to speak - giving off all the classic symptoms of cotton fever

They say it's like a mini version of your body rejecting someone-elses donor's organ and or/body part (body part/organ-transplants, etc)
only on a VERY-MUCH smaller scale, obviously, since nobody died of cotton fever yet, as far as i know

And i really tend to believe that new ^^^^ and to most people probably 'radical' theory

i have had discussions with people about it before, and i'm still looking for the source of that study just to prove that i'm just taking the piss or making this shit up

Yeah, that's the weird thing about it, then again I wasn't really paying attention to the time, so it was probably more than 15 minutes.
Still though, it wasn't very long.

Maybe it's something in the cut. Dope isn't exactly sterile.
