Making the switch... in the capitol of the world

Hi,
Due to unfortunate circumstances that don't really matter, SWIM's OC80 habit is getting entirely too expensive, even at the relatively affordable rate at which he was getting them. So he's gonna make the switch to the real deal for a time. Problem is, he's always had friends who were into the things he was into... up until now... thus since he can't find any info from his friends, he thinks here will be the best place.
although he's lived in brooklyn for a couple years, everything has been done delivery over the phone. he's never had to cop on the streets, so even though he's an avid fan of the wire and a pretty smart guy in general, he feels like a baby in this world.
so, ANY AND ALL HELP would be appreciated... he knows he can go somewhere in brooklyn (he lives downtown, easy to get to atlantic/pacific subway stop so no problems getting around easily). he just doesn't know where or how to start. he has and never will IV, only sniff...
what are things he should look out for and ways to make this happen without getting ripped off? money is an issue, as its largely the reason he's making the switch over...
i know the rules and know how to use the search engine, but i'm also in a bad place mentally right now so i could use any and all help anyone could give.
thanks, i look forward to being a part of this forum... seems to be mostly non-judgemental, sincere and caring, which is not something easily found when you're in the "game" or "streets," so to speak.

There aint much anyone can/will tell you that has not already been said a thousand times. Methadone clinics, hookers, etc. etc. Any specific info would be violating the sites rules.

It's out there and you CAN find it. You just have to put a little work into it.

Word up... I figured that would be the general response, and that's cool, but the "wondering (sic) around brooklyn" thread actually produced a little useful info, and SWIM was kind of hoping to just get some pointers as in what slang to use to avoid being perceived as a noob (which he is) or a narc (who deserve what eventually comes to them). i don't think he'd fit in too well at a done clinic and he's as oblivious to hookers as he is to coppin on the street... just not really his style... he will put in work and has put in work, but again, any help would be a godsend.

I hear you man. I was not trying to be a dick. And I don't think that you got that impression either. I was just kinda laying it out there.

That thread you mentioned is about as far as the site rules could be stretched.

As far as methadone clinics. If you find one. Just hang around outside in the morning. Look a little sick. Make some eye contact. It may not be instant, but a conversation can be easily started. Especially if you have a cigarette to hand out.

If you are not too keen on the hooker idea.....stay away. No sense in getting busted for solicitation while trying to score some dope.

Hey, thanks for the response... I didn't take it negatively at all. I was happy someone replied, all the more that a good poster replied!

Yeah I just never needed to pay for sex, so the hooker idea is very foreign to me... nothing against them, but i'll probably hit up a few done clinics instead... im at a place in my life where i need to be opiated, medically, but im young and no one in ny seems to prescribe anything decent.. but dont have the funds for my oxy intake at the moment and have made the decision to go the cheaper route for a while... im itching join in the east coast stamp report! that or find a decent doctor. either would suit me but ive got a feeling finding an h connect will be easier, i just literally know no one who fucks with it...

thats the thing... seems so dangerous to me when i've been used to knowing at least someone who knows who i'm dealing with... its a really tough choice here with the safety of my pills versus the effort its going to take to make a connect... i guess i can try to meet people in bars but it seems like this door is harder to get my foot in than i first imagined.

It is dangerous,but you can make it less so.When you find a likely spot,spend a bit of time checking it out.Buy a cup of coffee and relax.

Oh and never go to score sick or desperate.That really ups the odds of something bad happening.

Hey bro wat you find in bars is alcohol, that shitty legal drug....Anyone homeless or at the meth clinic locally will help you out....Just dont act nieve...Hookers have been mentioned coz they always know someone and if they help you , you just need to help them out in return $........But remember, theres nothing legal about wat your lookin for, so normal rules dont apply.....
And if you really are that nervous and very new to the game, your risk of gettin ripped off is quite high..
Like Nick said "If ya dont feel right, just walk away"....But its out there, you just need a genuine friend;)

hopefully i'll find a doctor around here that will actually treat my pain so i don't need to go this route but every so often.
but these days that seems less and less likely so its good to have this info, its nice to have backup plans when you have serious pain

You can find it if you just put your mind to it. I just recently had to take a trip out of town on business and I was too scared to take dope and rigs with me. The first night after I checked in at my hotel I was able to score and this is a town I have never been to. I just found some homeless dude who was panhandling change and asked him where to cop, plus I would make it worth his time. He took me to the spot, hooked me up with a couple of people and I was set for the week I was there.

Just be street smart, don't take a lot of cash with you and roll from there. I bought the dude who hooked me up a sack that night but he was able to introduce me to the people, so it was well worth it. Just watch yourself and the surroundings and never give anyone your cash unless the dope is in your hand.

I think I kind of know how you feel. I made the same switch for the same reason and the street scene is scary if you are unfamiliar. I think you will be surprised how nice most people are. After all dealers are looking for biz and other users are in the same boat you are. I don't shoot up either which can be an issue when you have no tracks to show. I used to try to have a small amt of really good weed with me. Everybody likes good weed and it can help put people at ease. You can give it up too if a cop wants to know what you bought and weed is much better than dope to get caught with. He'll probably just take it and let you go. Anyway thats what I used to do. Also, go during the day if you can.

yeah, these are all the ideas i'll probably end up trying unless I can find some sort of pain relief the legitimate way. I sometimes see people around my neighborhood who I think might be able to lead me in the right direction, even a few nyhca housing projects very close by, but i am leery of making contact with anyone around here because the last thing i need is some guy referring to it on the street when i'm with my straight(er) friends...
thanks again and if anyone wants to get in touch via the contact info on my user profile to chat, id love it (there are a couple longterm board users who can vouch that i am not involved with law and am a nice guy)... now i guess im more interested in slang that wont make me look like such a novice and preferably any tips as to when i do find myself with the product in hand, is there any quick, inconspicuous method of telling if i'm being ripped or not? like how much powder should be in the stamp, and these run 6-10 bucks apiece? do people use the word stamp on the streets?

again, i truly hope i can find the pain relief i need legally, but the conditions i have now are really pushing me towards having to make the switch.

thanks guys for continuing to help a newbie... i should have much to add w/r/t music, film and media in general, as thats the stuff that I studied and now keeps a roof over my head and the pills that have just gotten too expensive at my level of pain, with all the associated medical bills.

I would say the 3 most helpful things would be learning a little basic spanish, having tracks, and atleast looking the part somewhat. spanish word here among pr's and dominicans is manteca. que tienes manteca. offer to snort a bag infront of em if they think your a dt. you gotta figure the rest out my friend and if you aint street smart your gonna get beat alot, but its def there.
