Dosage Question

Hi guys, this is my first time posting here. I have been lurking around for a couple days now and i can already tell that most of you have much more opiate experience than I do. But thats fine, in fact, thats good for me because that means this is a great place to ask questions and get information that could only be gotten from the experienced.

So here goes.


I have recently come into a quantity of codeine. I know people who have used it and enjoyed it, so im looking forward to trying some myself. Iv gotten some information from Erowid (im sure you know Erowid) but I still have a question that wasn't specifically covered there.
What would a respectable dosage be for a first timer to get a good high? Keep in mind that im 6'2" and just over 200lbs. Im also quite experienced with various drugs, just not codeine. Any help would be appreciated.:)

I've never been especially attracted to codeine, however, being of similar size and weight as you, I would suggest from 60 -120 mg. Are the one's you have #4's?
It really depends on how much opiates you take or have taken in the past. I find codeine to be very mild and my DOC is Oxy 80's (not generic). By the way, has anyone noticed a big difference with the new Teva 80's vs the Purdue 80's??
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on the dosage!

I can feel as little as 16 milligrams myself.......or tolerate more than 200 milligrams. I have heard that 100 milligrams of codeine could be compared to 10 milligrams of morphine.....codeine and morphine last longer in the system than some other opiates like hydrocodone or heroin............I usually take 80-100 milligrams at a given time. but that usually is with the caffeine that the pills I get are mixed with. well, until I stopped getting stuff sent from canada that is.

I say just pop about 3 pills, and see where it takes u...You seem to be quite a big person, if you don't feel the high then pop another one....this is coming to you from someone who can't even pronounce Suboxone :D ...mmmkay.....

Anything under 150 mg of codeine would be a waste if not taken to get an extra boost at work, then I'd prefer a dose of around 90-120. But anything below 150 mg to get any euphoria out of isn't worth it. My preferred dose of codeine is around 300-400 mg, after that it'd be a waste to take more, since your body usually can't metabolize any more. I take 50 mg Perduretas without anything besides codeine in them, so if you're using Tylenol I'd recommend doing a cold water extraction. I think they're comparable with Citodon or Panocod over here, but they don't come as 1, 2 etc, but regular, minor and forte, depending on strength.

300mg-400mg is for people with a tolerance to codeine not first timers. 300-400mg will sedate you or make you really sick if you have no tolerance. Especially on an empty stomach. I have a high tolerance to codeine and mainly take 60-192mg at a time with Grapefruit juice. I once took 300mg on an empty stomach and it just made me really tired and give me gut pain. It was no fun at all.

I suggest eating something before you take it, cause it can hurt your guts if you've no tolerance. Or start with 30mg on an empty stomach. I've given 3x12.8 (38.4mg Codeine) split Nurofen Pluses to a friend who mainly smokes pot and it made him mellow and kinda tired. Drinking grapefruit juice with it will increase the length of codeine metabolism so it'll be stronger.

If you just want to see what it's like. Start with 30mg. If you want a decent high start with 60mg. This is plenty for someone with no tolerance. 120mg is a very effective dose of Codeine aswell

Codeine is just one of them. It also works with Valium.

I've had much better results with Codeine & Valium when using Grapefruit juice. Especially when I was taking Codeine when I was on an SSRI. I remember the first time I tried Grapefruit juice with Codeine, it was like I was having it again since a long time yet I had been on them everyday.

I must say, Phenergan works with Codeine rather well. I took 25mg of Phenergan (25mg Promethiazine HCl) with 256mg of Codeine (20 split N+ halves" and the effects are nice and mellow.
Also not itching as much :-) These Phenegan are really old. Since around 2000 too lol (the expirary date was probably 03 or 04 ;-). Anyone know if Avomine (Promethazine Theoclate) has the same kind of effect as it's HCl brother? I can get this stuff straight off the shelf instead of OTC.

First time I used codeine I used 150mg. I wasn't feeling anything at all, then I took 60mgs more, and the opiate itch began.

If I am going to take codeine now, it would be 200mg+ dose for me.

I feel euphoria with as little as 40-50 milligrams of codeine when not heavily addicted to other opiates. Jonathan Ott and other authors have pointed out that codeine is metabolised at very inconsistant rates in different people, with some people not feeling codeine or hydrocodone at all due to inefficient enzyme cytochrome catabolic conversion of codeine into morphine or hydrocodone into hydromorphone. codeine and hydrocodone can cause some severe allergic reactions as well. maybe we should run a test poll on codeine, to see if the ratios of euphoria dosage and enzyme activity/allergic reactions are anything similiar to what the data reports. beyond these specific opiates I have read statements regarding euphoria and opiates in general, that only 10% of the population actually feels euphoria from opiates...................I would geuss from reading personal expereince reports that many people need a few hundred milligrams of codeine to register euphoria, or even feel the opiate........

For anyone taking Codeine, I would recommend Codeine by itself. If you are taking Codeine/Acetaminophen together as it is prescribed sometimes, be careful. Especially for anyone who has liver disease, such as Hep C. Acetaminophen can be toxic to the liver and with someone who has liver disease and has even caused toxic levels in someone without liver disease who has taken it as prescribed.

If you can avoid this combination, do so.
