Must be going OK for you, since clearly you still have power. How much rain/wind/damage have you seen in your area? Let's have an on the scene report, Niogio.
Wanna hear irony? My son & his bride are going on their honeymoon to the Outer Banks of NC next Sat - the same day now Hurricane Hanna is supposed to be visiting the state . I SO hope their honeymoon doesn't get ruined...they're staying in my sister's beach house, so it's not like they'll be losing money on a vac rental, but still. Happily, he has inherited his Mother's weather geekiness, so he's looking forward to some wild shit as he puts it.

rain- 5-6"
wind-40-50mph ALL DAY and its still going strong
damage-none to my home, but there are telephone poles/wires down everywhere. Trees are down, branches everywhere.
Thats about it. Nothing to drastic.

Hanna became a hurricane today, and is supposed to mosey on inland somewhere in the Carolinas, most likely SC. But each time I watch the predicted path it gets closer & closer to the NC northern Outer Banks. Grrr. I want my kids to have fun, not be hunkered down eating cold beef stew by candlelight & mopping the place out. On the other hand, great story someday for their grandkids, and it give my sis peace of mind to have someone in the house if there's a problem.

Glad it hasn't been nutso bad. That's some pretty good wind to shake your trees:D. 5-6 inches of rain not too bad either - I saw some predictions of 15 inches. That would be a bit much.

Yep: Breaux Bridge is my favorite crawfish festival : I love those mudbugs :-) I used to have a stainless steel keg, I'd cut the top off, and would use it to make beer in, and also to boil crawfish in...never affected the crawfish taste...or the beer, now I think about it...
Love Louisiana

Hell: if straying off topic were against the rules we'd all have been thrown off here a long time ago: A topic is just "wishful thinking" if I know *anything* about Opiophile...and about the most surefire way to get people to go *off* topic is to tell them *not* to...we aren't known for following the rules anyway...that's like telling me not to jaywalk...or to quit dope...or any of the thousand other things I've been told I need to do...or not to do ;-)

yer all right: I seen u take a little flack on here from a rude newbie, and I figured you were just trying to be friendly...no problem...we're all just a little worried: that hurricane was barreling down that way, and I was worried the levies might not hold again...but as usual....the topic turned to food...tomorrow I'm making a roux, then some shrimp gumbo, so I'll be posting all about *that* little endeavor...but really I drop in dose on methadone 4mg, so I'm trying to be funny so I don't think about it....
best wishes to you...

Resident chipper here: Off topic, i know Mr Dickfeet but i actually completed a methadone detox from 80 mgs (in decrements of 10 until 50 then by 5's until 30 then by 2.5's until 5 and eventually jumped off 1/3 mg. Took me 4 months and all i do is chip once in a while. I was wondering if your goal is to remain straight since you're going so well reducing?

Duckfeet
09-02-2008, 02:01 AM
I kind of hope to...but I'm a realist...but mostly, for now, I know I have to...because every time I open the door to *any* opiate, lately, I end up back on methadone...which to me, is not a good thing...to put it lightly...but I appreciate yer info on how u did the cutback: I dropped 10mg a week, from 100-50mg...5mg a week, from 50-30mg, I'll drop tomorrow another 4mg a week, down to 18mg, and then 3 a week down to six, and then shoot down to zero....and then be blue for a bit...but a few weeks of thinking the world sux, and I start to snap out of it...usually...we'll see...
I know everybody has strong opinions on how u should detox off of methadone...I've looked into everything I could find, and find that the truth is, very few people get off it, no matter *which* kind of detox they use...and since I've gotten off it twice, I know what works for me. I know some people's views on this are pretty passionate...but few of us really know what works until we try it: too fast is misery, and u go back out...too slow, and yer on methadone a long long time...and in the end, there are no statistics that are meaningful...only opinions...I got off this shit before thru belief in my own tuffness and determination...that's hard to come by, but I'm trying to muster it up...all else is vanity...I'm in as good a spot as I'll get in, all things considered, and my opinion is that's when u better get going...
take care...

Well now..Anyone from this area at all?
Let me know if you know if Gustav affected any of the service down here.
Used to going to the area around St. Claude to cop, but haven't been there in a little while.
It used to be just find someone who looks like they might be able to help, and just ask.
Anyways, any comments are welcome. Thanks.
