im still trying to think about a cool name for this *group* of people i want to form. since i created all these individual opiate-related support groups i have all over myspace. myyearbook.com & fubar.com. anyway, i was thinking a bunch of us (as any as possible0, could maybe ban togather to statt doing stuff like an "opiate" awareness sorta campaign deal. due stuff like petitions toward diff branches of our govrment, such as people like The Surgeon general, certain people in the DEA (about the unnescasary restrictions on narcotics). also most definantly am i going to write none other than The Presidant of our US too. and i was thinking maybe that enuff people make enuff noise, perhaps then people will start listening. call me an iodot, but as much as we put up with, ive been ready for a while now to just go to the source(s) of the problem. does this make sense to u all at all? cuz id like to get as many people i can, behind me and to back me up with sum stuff. over the yrs i have read a lot of articles about opiates, and how they help so many diff. things. ive even got sum of them printed out. anyhow, its just an idea ive had 4 a while. i would appreciate any commments. or whatever else evreyomne thinks..... ;)
thanx,
jen

How about:
Pain Patients for Compassion (PPC)
or
Compassion, Care, and Understanding (CCU)
or
Narcotics Aren't the Enemy (NATE)
or
Pain Patients Unite (PPU)
or
Patients Against Pain (PAP)
or
Patients Against Suffering (PAS)
Just a few suggestions.
I agree. I do think policies regarding the treatment of narcotics are ridiculous, especially when it comes to chronic pain (and even acute pain). I think there are a lot of stereotypes and misinformation, especially in the medical community and propagated by the government. But, I also think nothing is really going to change. That doesn't mean I think people should stop trying to change, but it's getting to the point where the government and other organizations are blatant about not caring. They don't even try to hide it anymore.

Im there babe! Jussay the werd and tell me where to sign up and I could get quite a few others that arent on the O-phile. This kinda stuff is all about networking and finding people with connections that are sympathetic to your cause, right?Get a mailing list going ASAP and I think that if people could put in .02 as far as what the contents should be would help too.

Not trying to be a Negative Nancy here, but:
a) This is going to do nothing, unfortunately
b) It's probably not even going to get started
c) Even if it does get started, after about 2 days everyone will nod out and forget about it

I sort of agree: rather than start something on your own, pick one of the more active existing alliances (they're posted above) and see if you can throw your energy and effort in with them. I always hate to see good energy spent re-inventing the wheel.
And by the way - our voices DO get heard, if not directly, then indirectly. For example, there will be a public comment period if the US government goes thru with a plan to require ANY DOCTOR scripting "strong narcotics including 'done, fent, oxycontin, who knows what next ....to have at least so many hours of education like sub docs have 8 now. Doctors ALREADY have continuing ed requirements to keep up their board certifications - so let them do it voluntariily if theyre going to write for those drugs.
The physicians who are part of the pain management movement - MANY good doctors - are going to speak out, they will say it is a further restriction on treatment, yet another "hoop" to jump through and will decrease availability of short-term treatment with opiates by regular docs.
I can see mandated training for done used in pain management but that's it.
Doctors already have to get "x" hours continuing ed to keep their board-certifications. My brother are his wife are both doctors and they go to these conference in Bali, etc...... ALWAYS a nice place.
And you can bet if it even makes it to a hearing, our side will have someone who got their life back with Schedule II meds and is not leasing a productive and full life......, but the opposition will parade out a bunch of addicts.....who lost everything because someone prescribed them strong meds.
Excuse spelling or grammar stuff - tired!

He was our "drug czar". Director of the whitehouse office of National drug control policy (ONDCP).
He said " medical marijuana use made no more sense than medical crack. In 2007 he called growers of marijuana "violent criminal terrorists".
BTW, didn't know that either...Thank you, WIKI!!!!:D
Definetly NATE!!!
Points for coming up with an acronym that spells my name!

I agree. There are many, many existing organizations along these lines that are extremely well-respected, established, effective, and already-politically active groups that would certainly benefit from more members to help carry out their missions and goals. It's much more effective to have individuals frighting for a like cause banding together as one than to waste time, energy, and man-power creating another group starting from scratch ya know?
If anyone is interested, I can provide a list of related organizations with links.
Sue--you said there was already a list of active existing alliances posted? In this thread or another one? Can't find it. Anyway, I have some good info about that too if it's not here already.
P.S. tinypenistoiletpapertotalpussy's site is not one of them

The best thing i seen to come outta USA drug stuff is the group LEAP.....Ol bill against drug prohibition, and for drug education.....They arent pro drug...Their stance is more about educating guys away from drugs. And not giving normal people massive sentences for a shitty little bitta dope and ruining their lives....

This reminds me of a "Penn and Teller" show I saw. Where peace activists met everyday and
protested by congress n shit. They wore all pink and looked completely rediculous.
Anyways Penn made the point that peace wasn't a feeling or hope.....but in reality it's just countries
not fucking killing eachother. And the best way to do so was to have free trade between countries.
You don't go to war with countries your dependant on with trade Americans need for their dailly lives.

I'm going to side with those that recommend throwing your support behind already established organizations. We don't need more organizations, we need to present a united front. There is power in numbers (and much more power in money.)
It's not that it's a bad idea, but you don't need to reinvent the wheel.

I didnt know that...At least someone is recognising that we should be free to take what we want...When i think about the effects of a bottle of whiskey and a chase, shit there is no fuckin comparison...
If your stoned aggression just dont come into it, but fuck whiskey is just nuts.....That gear is mental, especially when you see how crazy people can become on it.....
Some guy i know woke up inna police cell and asked what stupid charge he was in for, drunk an disordely yada yada..."No mate your in for murder, you stabbed ya best mate in a drunken play fight that got nasty"......
