Just curious about how much this varies from clinic to clinic, state to state or country to country. What's the going rate for MMT in your neck of the woods?

I believe the daily rate is $12 at my clinic. And it's $337 for the month if you pay it all at once.

I just realized this question has no doubt been asked before so if you are thinking that thought, so am I. But I'm bored, and I want to start a threat... so there. :p

$250 a month out here in California. But when I started I was on Unemployment, and they told me the cost of the program depends on your wages. Good question though I should ask some other patients at my same clinic how much they're paying.

I heard one guy say he was getting it for free through his insurance. Not sure which one, but yeah.

This was from Dec. 2005 - Oct. 2006, but the private one in Lexington was $85 a week if you paid all at once, or $110 if you paid daily, then it went up to $90 a week if you paid all at once, and $120 if you paid daily. I always paid all at once every week. You could also pay monthly, but I was afraid they'd screw up and say I didn't pay when I did, so I never did that. Plus, dosing times were from 6:00-10:00 AM, and you could also dose from 10:00-10:30 if you were late IF you paid an additional $10 at the door. One time I was late because of traffic and I got there at 10:03, and the fuckers wouldn't let me in because I didn't have the extra ten dollars. I swear I think the security guy who worked the door had a deal with the clinic pocketing the extra money for late people. I mean, why should they charge extra money if they're going to be open anyway. I mean, if you got there at 9:50, you were sitting there in the waiting room until at least 10:30 for your number to be called anyway. They were notoriously slow in dosing people because everyone had to talk back there at the booths. I always hated that. Just drink your diluted orange wafers and go. MMT isn't a place to socialize in my opinion, especially with the staff and especially for more than a minute or two. And don't get me started on holiday doses when everyone had to get take homes. OMG, you had to sit there FOREVER! And people bringing in their children always annoyed me, mainly because they let them run loose and harass the other clients. A methadone clinic isn't a place for children. I understand that sometimes people don't have nannies or daycare or whatever, but leave them in the car if you're only going to be there for a few minutes (especially if they're older) or take them in but make them behave. This one mother daughter combo (both were there on MMT) would always bring in their children / grandchildren, and just talk and talk and let the little heathens run all over the clinic screaming. I think eventually they were told to take turns dosing (one waiting in the car while the other dosed, vice versa) or to make their kids shut up and behave or they'd be kicked out. That's just rude IMO. What's with parents letting strangers babysit their kids in public places, or harass people because they're too busy to deal with it.

$70 a week at my clinic. No breaks for paying monthly and there is no option to pay daily either. . .you either have your payment on the day it's due or you are put on "administrative detox:" 1/7th of your dose taken off each day until you're out in a week.

I am not working so I do not pay till I start 2 work.

in my state you pay 11 to 16 bucks a day
the further north you go in florida, the more expensive mmt gets
here in lovely west palm beach, i pay $12/day
and usually i pay 84 on mondays cause i tend to forget my cash if i gotta pay every day

all mmt clins are free, & she is talking about pay clinics?

if you find a free mmt clinic in florida, hell anywhere in the southeast US
let me know because.... ummm.... there aren't any
florida will detox you for free, then after 2days to a week, you can pay or go
and why not? we payed for our drugs, we should pay for our treatment
not knocking anyone who gets free treatment, ya do what ya hafta do
but some of these folks like to say "everyone should have free maintenace"
which is just so much baloney bullshit because it goes back to "rights"
everyone has their own perception of what is a "basic human right"
respect? govt aid? a job? treatment? none of the above

food, water, shelter, safety- those are "basic human rights"
everything else is a fucking PRIVELEGE

First of all.... saying that everyone should have free maintenance is not the same fucking thing as saying it's their 'right'. Big big difference. Example... I should be able to drive on roads that are safe and obstruction free. Is that my 'right'? Hell, no.

Second........ how are you paying for your MMT? Who is subsidizing it?

Good question, actually.
Money always has to come from somewhere, obviously.

Here in Ireland, all the methadone we get is completely free of charge. (like it is in Britain too)
So here, the money comes from the taxpayer, i suppose.

And it's not just methadone. The few people here who get subutex , also get it for free.
Actually almost everything that is to do with addiction and maintenance is free of charge over here.
A few addicts here can also get dihydrocodeine for maintenance, also free obviously.
Even if you get reffered to a gp to get your 'done from pharmacies, you don't have to pay a penny for visits or 'done.

We have it rather good in that sense over here, so many of us simply take our 'done for granted.

But at the same time things are rather strict here compared to what i read from people that have to pay for their 'done in US, etc.
Clinics are much tougher on UA's, security, etc. over here, it seems.

TAnd people bringing in their children always annoyed me, mainly because they let them run loose and harass the other clients. A methadone clinic isn't a place for children.

I had to laugh at this because of the experience I had yesterday. New intake, man and woman, with 3 boys all ranging around 6-8 years old. Both parents are sitting there waiting to be called back. There is a small area set up for the kids to play but NO... their kids are racing cars through the center of the waiting room. One client actually tripped over one of the cars the kid had just pushed under her feet, and the parents didn't say a word. Ohhh... I was biting my tongue.

There was another person in front me who had a young daughter, maybe 2, and she was constantly telling her to sit at the table, and play quietly. I kept shooting a look over to the other parents to see if they got the point... here was a toddler that was able to control herself but their older boys were terrorizing the place.

I totally understand needing to bring kids at times, but it isn't the place to turn them wild. A lot of people are at the clinic waiting to get in, and are sick and miserable. The last thing they want to deal with is a daycare setting.

Exactly, it's like some of those parents just don't get it. I understand why parents sometimes have to bring kids too, but for god's sake, make them behave. LOL

When I was at my other clinc where there was 850+ people there was 5 windows & a huge waiting area w/over 15 chairs.

My new clinic is SMALL ONLY 160 PEOPLE, & MANY WOMAN bring there kids, in strollers or 3-10yrs old. I'm ok w/it but sometimes what I see these kids doing is nuts & they do not keep them under control.

I heard this 1 young boy be talken to himself, but he was saying exactly what they say 2 people who are driving by to buy drugs, example he was saying out loud rocks , blows , park park.... In chicago bags of heroin is referred to as blow.

Sometimes these mothers will meet or come at the same time as the others with there kids & they run wild in there, no repect. I see how the counslers be nice & allways walk by the kids & say "oh you look so pretty 2day or you have grown so much seen YOU been here".
WTF?

I ALSO SEEN BABY SITTERS BRING THERE clients or the kids they are sitting for w/them, maybe like 4 kids, in a lil ass waiting room w/4chairs. That has more kids stuff then adult stuff like magazines & lit?

Well i think we all get the point.

I'm totally in favour of children being allowed in to clinics and clinics should provide space for them.Clinics should be as inclusive as possible. In England clinics provide a sanctuary for users, which is as it should be.
and of course parents should supervise their children, but they should do that anywhere.

I feel you 110%. There is nothing more obnoxious then parents who don't control their kids. I've seen this happen to much lately, and not just at the clinic.

One pet peev of mine is when your walking anywhere, and parents have a kids running around, and their kid runs right into you. And they just stare off into space like retards. They don't tell their kids anything, don't apoligize to me, it doesn't even bother them. Someone that can't teach their children this common courtesy shouldn't even be allowed to pro-create.

Onto my lil story. I was at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago, and I set-up 2 chairs to try out to decide which one I wanted to buy. There was this minority(I'm a minority myself) family 2 adults, 1 teenager, 1 about 10 year old. From the start I could feel this damn kid eye fuckin me, but I just did my own thing. Then every chair I sat in, he would wait behind me to get out, then jump in himself making a racket.

Although it was annoying as hell, and even though I set both chairs up, I didn't own them so I really had no right to say anything. But then I almost lost it. I finally decided which chair I was going to get, and since the nimrod was bouncin around in both of them, I decided to dig one out from the bottom of the pile, that was completely sealed. And let me tell you, this family watched me do this, and it was clear exactly what I was doing.

I put the chair I was planning to buy on the side next to my other items, then I started to put the other 2 chairs away. After I put the first chair away I look over and I see the little shit kid fingering around with the chair I just put to the side. He was about to start ripping open the package, stupid bastard. His parents weren't sayin anything so I walked over there. Stiff armed him a lil bit, and snatched the chair back. Then his teenage sister went over there and finally gave him the softess smack I'd ever seen. Better then nothin I guess. But I swear this kid had a straight problem. And his parents had an even bigger problem for not being completely embarrassed by his antics.
