Natural opiate of the tryptamine class found in Psychotria colorata, acts as a mu-opiate receptor agonist and NMDA antagonist, similar to methadone. Also has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral effects.
I haven't been able to find much information, aside from a wikipedia article ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hodgkinsine ), but it does look promising.
Look at the structure of this alkaloid, it's insane! I am searching for a place to order some bulk leaves or bark, whatever has the highest concentration of alkaloids. If I find a vendor, I'll post it here.
Genus Psychotria was already known to contain psychedelic tryptamines like N,N-DMT ...These rubiaceae seems to be more interesting than I thought ...

there are around 3-4 other psychotria species besides p. colorata that are rumored to have opioid and/or nmda antagonist activity.
recently there is a bit of a rumor that some company is going to start selling a 30% alkaloidal extract of psychotria colorata.
I would like to know where they sourced this one, as I have a contact in brazil that can and does ship me nearly anything that I want from the jungles/plains of that country, but he for nearly two years has had no luck finding even small voucher specimens of this species.
he looked into some of the schultes information on this plant of course, and noted that his particular area was listed as a source for the plant....but that book is decades old, and he found no people claiming to know of the plant in their area any longer.
since I learned of these plants, I have thought about the potential that using natural mu agonists coupled with the possibly potential effects of using a natural nmda antagonist active herb might help keep a cap on the tolerance response.
these bushes can produce some abundant leaf material over time most likely, if they are similiar to psychotria viridis, they are not too hard to grow most likely either.
hopefully if commercial extracts are going to be produced, the raw leaf and live plants and seeds might follow.
someone, let the damn cat out of the bag.
these plants has been in the literature for too long, they need to be in our greenhouses!

Actually, it's "hear, hear" as in "now hear this" or closer yet "hear ye, hear ye"

It doesn't sound like it.
But I hope one pops up soon.
