I've read that before. Apparently noscapine, an alkaloid found in opium has antitumor abilities.

wow thats really good stuff. who would have ever thought that opiates could be a useful medication? obviously not doctors....

That's really amazing. Just imagine if certain opiods were soon used as the predominant method to combat cancer and luek.


This bit is especially interesting.

Scientists have found that opioid receptors also exist on the surface of some cancer cells for reasons that are not understood.

I don't agree with the dr saying this though: ''while methadone can, itself, become addictive, that addiction is much easier to break compared to addiction to true opioids...''

I first read this on a Dutch site and ofcourse they start all the blabla about how this is in fact a junkie drug and how it shouldn't be given to cancerpatients.. what the fuck?! I'd rather be on methadone than die of leukemia any time. I hate that stupid stigma.. and the nitwit who wrote the article calls methadone 'opium' ... guess some Dutch are more retarded than others..

It's in Dutch so don't even bother (maybe Speeseend will like it, he's Dutch..)
