not opiate related, i do apologize
you all know so much so i thought that i would ask..
my mom was diagnosed with cirrhosis today,im crushed,so is she along with the rest of my family
in her case it is not caused by hepatitis nor alcohol
i know it can kill in advanced stages, i also know it cannot be reversed but its progression can be halted...has anyone been through this with family or friends?

Was it caused by an auto immune disease? My father had primary bilairy cirrhosis of the liver and ended up being on his deathbed in the hospital for 3 months waiting for a liver. He finally got a liver on Dec 24th. The docs said he only had hours left. His progressed really fast from the point when he was diagnosed (about 2 years). The doctors said that everybody is different as far as progression. Its hard to put a number on it they said. Some people live for a long time with it

how is he now?
we find out what caused it on monday
they did rule out the obvious two main causes
so had his progressed to the point of liver failure?
could its progression not be stopped because his was an autoimmune disorder?

Yea right before he got his transplant his kidneys had pretty much shut down. He was yellow and swollen. Its a type of thing where your mom could possibly live the rest of her life and not be affected or it could start progressing now and she would need a transplant in a couple of years. When my father was first diagnosed he didnt have any problems for year and then it hit. My father also has ulcerated colitis and Chrons disease and not in really physical shape. He is doing fine now. On a lot of anti refection meds, but he has no problems as far as the liver goes. Does this help you at all?

yes thanks..
one more thing...
as far as liver transplants..
do they try to get a match from the family?
i know people can live on half of a liver ...was this even an option?

No it wasnt an option in this case and I don't really know why. I do know that my whole family would of donated there liver if that was the case.
You dont get put on the transplant list unless your condtion becomes very bad. Then you move up on the list the closer you get to death.

That's harsh my friend, my positive thoughts are out for your mother. I have always been scared of cirrhosis of the liver when I was big into drinking hard liquor (now I only drink beer), also when I was using codeine and Dihydro-codeine way back in the early days of my opiate abuse without CWE'ing, I strarted to be able to stomach tons of APAP, I mean tons of Acetaminophen I was doing 12-15g doses at a time sometimes 2-3 times a day!
I know that is massive stupid and massive overkill but I have had 3 liver tests since those days and they have all been flawless, but don't take my luck in my blood steer anyone to thinking that APAP (acetaminophen, etc.) is anything not to underestimate! I had all the side effects including stomach pain, intense nausea, vomitus at times and I still continued half the time until I learned to CWE and by that point I wasn't doing it right anyhow and then somehow I started non-intentionally herniating discs in my back, lol. I've always had scoliosis when younger and have always had bad back pain, soon that led to herniated discs, Degenerative disc disease, Lumbar fusions, luckily lower lumbar, nerve damages, sciatica (I know of this just doctors here don't use "sciatica" as an injury/illness) lets just call it nerve pain from nerve damage, I know I have nerve damage, I do take pregabalin for that and it helps with nerve pain, especially the shooting type that radiates. :D

were pretty similar man. plus im thinking im headed in your direction, my lower back hurts pretty much all the time, not unbearably unless im in wds, or if i do amphetamines or extacy then its pretty unbearable...but i could see it heading towards herniated disks. i also have sciatica, its gotten much better since ive stopped carrying my walet tho. its gotten so bad that i couldnt walk or sit, i could only stand or lie down. but since ive stopped carrying my wallet its gotten much better. plus i used to take massive amounts of apap too....dont really know why im telling you this.?

I remember always getting home at the end of the day, not even a strenuous day sometimes and laying on my stomach so my girlfriend could give me a backrub daily because I always had intense physical backpain, and thought it was normal, but it wasn't at all and I was clueless until I got an MRI, X-rays usually don't show shit, maybe trauma after a bad fall. My first doctor before my first MRI came back years ago revealing my first herniated disc said I might had fractured my "tail" bone or the bottom of my spine, he was the equivalent of a D.O. and was the first doctor to legally introduce me into my current world and the first doctor to move me on to bigger and better places......leading to bigger and better legal meds. Funny thing is years and years prior to this I had an unofficial opiate addiction and was in no legal pain, now I'm in full legal pain, and am addicted but a CP patient, ironic huh? :o:rolleyes:
Do you have insurance in the USA?? IF so or some other way to get an MRI, seriously, get one, it could be your goal towards legal opiates. And after you get an MRI and it shows some type of dysfunction or injury, you're gold! You might start with something light (for pain) but after time you keep coming back to the doctor, keep complaining, keep taking whatever the doctor throws at you until you get into the better and better things, and then the cycle begins and rolls and rolls into what you actually "WANT" over time. It took me a long time before I got into all that FENT and all that other PHARMY LEGAL GOODNESS that I was sooo do for!
It's all about time and patience and building up great non-malicious or moral negative content manipulation skills that gets better and better after many doctor visits until you can basically talk to a doctor and never into what you want to happen but make it happen by saying this that and mentioning "X" and "X" and all of a sudden you psychologically have the doctor doing whatever you want them to. :)
Once you have one herniated disc and you're in your early 20s or even sooner that only means more shit is bound to happen in the future, if you're breaking down as a young man, imaigne being a much older man with that back that's already fuckered????
Hi bro,I actually have alcohol related cirrhosis. It's very similar to hep related cirrohsis, but there some differences.
Do you know you're Mum's liver enzyme test results? The basic ALT U/L would give a rough idea of liver damage.
