Best brand of mscontin/long-acting morphine?

The ones I get are the pink cylindrical 60's by Endo Pharm.....anyone have experience with other brands/dosages/formulations (I have also taken the 30mg endo's previously, as well as the 20mg Kadians) and care to share their thoughts?

The best ones that i used to seek were the Perdue-Fredericks.But now thanks to my methadone i dont have to seek them out anymore. Thanks

Monthly I get the 60's also, mallies. (these are the only mallies I will ever take) I used to get the purdue wich are the brand name, and I did not notice any differnce from these and mallies. Never tried the endo's...

Well, I'd love to move up to 90ct 100's a month but I don't know if my doc is comfortable with that or not. I'll go to him near the end of this month at my next appointment and tell him my groin pain is through the roof again and see what he does. Sometimes I think he'll keep me at 90 60's per month and 90 5mg hydros per month forever but two months ago he surprised me by giving me 180ct 60's per month because I had just had the worst month since I had been seeing him. He went back to 90 this month though and right on schedule, my pain levels have been very high again.

All it is is math....how many mg's of what do you need a day to be good. So now the Dr' got you on 180mg of ms and 15 mg of hydro, how is it working for you?

Have your pain levels or the duration of the pain increased?

Personally I would drop the hydro for the breakthrough and get something real, I've seen that way to often, your better off taping it to where the pain is....lol. It works for some but for most it only starts to work, and that is the whole ballgame, if you don't do what your supposed to do; WHY do I have you.

Tell him that I need so and so mg's a day to be alright, you know if that's 3 100mg or 5 60mg I don't care, but this many mg a day.

P&F; but are there those 200mg's somewhere...? Seen them only in pics; in nature, all were grey (100mg's) and think they are fooling us.

ii've seen 200mg capsules before....

i've seen the PF contin ones, they are red gelcap shaped pills, solid tho, not gelcaps, with a mark in the middle

i've also seen 200mg of the M-Eslon ones, red gelcaps with beads in them, i dont know who makes them (i think pFizter or wahtever, it says PF on the bottle)

i personnally get 100ct 100mg M-Eslon (grey gelcaps with beads) along with 80ct 20mg MS-IR....its not easy tho, nor is it free

Sometimes when the pain is really bad I take up to 5 of the 60's (300mg) per day. And anywhere up to 100mg of hydrocodone, although typically it's more like 40-80mg. When things are going well, I can go as low as 120mg of morphine and 10mg of hydro per day, although that's been a rare thing lately as my pain flares have been very bad.

Although my full-body pain seems to have gone into remission as the warm months approach, the groin pain has been quite extreme and I've been closer to the high end of the scale most of the time for the past couple of weeks.

My pain gets quite close to 10 when it's not controlled -- you probably know how excruciatingly gut-wrenching male reproductive pain can be, particularly when it goes on and on, and includes the butt as well as the leg -- and the duration is all but constant, with the pain getting worse as the day goes on typically.

This doc is much cooler than most in terms of respecting my intelligence and my ability to make my own treatment decisions responsibly, but even so I try not to do things like tell him what I want in specific terms like which medications, or what exact dosages. He often gives me a chance to ask for extra when he inquires how many pills I am typically taking during the month, and I try only to drop hints that I might need more when it's truly dire.

I know that odds are this condition will be with me for a long time if not the rest of my life, and I plan to live in this general area for most if not all that time so I am trying to tread lightly in terms of relations with this doc -- he's pretty much the only one around here I have been able to get to even consider a "real" treatment program that includes a combination of short- and long-acting narcotics at all! With most docs around here I'd be lucky to get just the hydro.
