click on the icon below someones avatar in between the green or grey dot and the one with the exclamation point in the triangle to give them points. if they like what you posted theyll do it to you. the more they do it, the more green things you get.

oh is it that obvious sorry im not quite on my toes at the moment hah.......ok i read the sticky but was still wondering where the reputation stuff comes from seeing as it looks anonymous on my profile does some one have to leave their name in order for you to know who left u a rep. point? Its still a bit confusing sorry.

When someone gives you "rep points" for a good post, insightful comment, etc. they can either leave their name or just leave it anonymous. I've noticed that lots of people leave names, some dont - up to them.

I usually leave my name but that's just me. The rep "thing-y" that you would click is the middle icon on the bottom that looks like a scale. By golly, it IS a scale! Between the green circle (that means you're online" and the triangle with the exclamation point, which is to report a post to the mods, like if you see someone soliciting to buy or sell something or violating other rules, like not being an asshole.... asshole being in the eye of the beholder. You know one when you see one.

Meant to say that the rule is to NOT be an asshole, the way I wrote it sounds like the rules say if someone isn't being an asshole you should report them.....

heh, once i pissed off that "strikks" guy. he was typing in ALL CAPS for no reason, and i made a joke about it "YEAH MAN CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!" and i guess he got pretty pissed at me. problem was, he thought that the rep button was just a private message, so he said "get a job or life or both" in the rep point.

I was pretty confused......i thought to myself "ok, obviously you don't like me, so why would you give me a rep point?".....but after being stumped for a while it came to me: he thought he was just leaving a nasty message!

That is SUCH poetic justice! Thinking he was leavin a nasty note when he was building up your rep - love it....
