im sure most of you are tired of reading about this shit, but it definaely helps me to know wht other think. After long contemplation , ive decided to stop using drugs and alcohol. Im sure this sounds ridiculous to some, but i feel its what i need and want to do. I know this isnt a support group but a lot you on here have agreat deal of experience with this. Ive been reading hundreds of posts on various message boards about oxycodone withdrawl , and the for the most part it seems like 3-4 days into it is the worst. However , ive also read that withdrawl can last as long as 4 weeks ? has anyone heard of this. Until recently i was taking about 60 to 90 mgs of oxy a day for about 5 days. I have taken this amount before for the same amount of time and had only minor withdrawl. However this time is completey different. I have been extremely sick. My last dose of oxy was 6 days ago, however, i had some vicoding and cough syrup with hydrocodone for the first few days. These kept the withdrawls at bay i believe. But here it is day 6 im still really sick( sweaty, nauseas, shitting every two minutes, completely restless, heart palpatations, nervousness, and sleeping difficulties). I would have figured by now these withdrawl symtpoms would have subsided but its seems like its going strong. Its been almost two weeks since ive had a drink , so i know its not alcohol withdrawl, not too mention i dont drink that heavy anyway. The only thing i can think of perphaps is some residual benzo withdrawl. Up until two weeks ago i was taking lorezepam. I took 1 mg a day for almost four months, and then slowly tapered down to .25 a day, sometimes not at all. I find it really hard to believe that this little amount of benzo would cause this , plus the symtpoms are indentical to oxy wihtdrawl. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I feel like total shit and none of my friends are opiate users who can relate to how im feeling. Im really depressed to think about feeling like this for three more weeks ?

Most of us have said "Im done with everything" one time or another, but I think this is the wrong site for you for to seek out people who are totally clean from everything. Like Devil said, look around for otc w/d help, but go somewhere else if you want NA. Cause if someone isn't using some form of opies, theyre using somthing else.

no doubt, antony. there may be some great support-group type posts, but most of them aren't "how to stop getting high forever", they're more along the lines of "how to not kill yourself for the next few-several days of withdrawal so you can start getting high with a lower tolerance again". :D

I'd think I'd rather sit a Turkish prison going through w/ds than sit at this site, making a valiant effort at trying stay clean. It's hard enough being here while taking a break with everyone "man im fucking wasted!, what a great day!":D

by the way, I'm having a great day!

Hahaha a Turkish prison. That sounds pretty funny right now. lol. Turkish prisons are pretttty bad. lol. Sorry i'm going through withdrawal lol. I feel all giddy. Scratch that. Early stages of w/d. Giddiness is not something usually associated with withdrawal. I have 3 preloaded syringes of 55mg of methadone waiting for me. I am just seeing how long I can go.. Ahhh i'll probably be right fuckedd up in about 3 hours so i'll post again. I couldnt sleep I am too anxious. It's pathetic, i feel like a kid on christmas morning when I am waiting to take my dose. It's ridiculous.

As for the Oxy withdrawal. I kicked a small Oxy habit and the worst of it was over in maybe 4 days or so. The rest was psychological. I didn't vomit though during the whole thing so I probably wasnt going through much of a withdrawal. I was only taking something like 8-12 percocet a day...the 5 mg. I think you could do it. It's all in the mind. It's like having a bad flu. Just keep something there to help you through it. Even if you have some benzo's or loperamide or lomotil or something it could help you through and after about 4-5 days you should be okay, just anxious. Kinda like quitting smoking.

There's one big difference between a bad flu and withdrawl: with a flu, you can take some cold medicine to help a little, but you just have to wait it out. But with withdrawl, you KNOW that if you just take some (insert DOC) everything will be better again. That's the biggest problem I have.

...After long contemplation , ive decided to stop using drugs and alcohol...

I've done that at least 50 times. off topic, but i couldn't pass the opportunity by.

BTW jacobs ladder, you're wrong, this is a support group, just not by the normal definition.

Everytime you do some opiate your pushing back the WD's. So if you haven't done oxy in two weeks but chipped with some Vico, cough syrup, you just pushed the WD's further. You can chip but your prolonging Wd's. Unless ,of course, like many of us, you are fooling yourself into thinking that you want to be sober but the other you keeps the habit going.
I hope you make it. The mind trip is constant. I've been a good boy i'll just take 10 Vico's to take the edge off.

Benzo withdrawal can linger on for a long time depending a lot of factors. My guess is the benzo’s are the problem. Sad part is even if you took some benzo’s today, it might not stop the withdrawals from them. I tried to kick Xanax and it wasn’t till the third day that significant symptoms appeared, and then took over a week for my body to really settle down after taking them again.

Benzo withdrawal is worse than opiate withdrawal in my experience.
