Just I thought I'd give everybody some info on the details of how the reputation system actually works (like how you accrue points).
Below is an explanation about the difference between Points and Power, provided by Deviated:
Points are given to you by other members by clicking on the scale under their name.
Power is how many points you can give to other members, it goes up with how many points you have / how long you've been a member. But mostly, how many points others have given you.
With that being said, to be eligible to participate in the reputation system, you have to be a member for 30 days and have 30 posts.
Some key details:
• Every new member gets 10 points to start off with.
• You must have 100 posts for your "rep clicks" (when you click on the scale icon under the user's name and leave a comment) to count toward another members' reputation. If you have between 30 and 99 posts, you can still "rep click", but you won't give any points to that user. They'll only be able to see the comment you left (and it's the thought that counts).
• You can give no more than 3 "rep clicks" in a 24 hour period.
• You must give "rep clicks" to 8 different people before hitting the same person again.
How "Power" works:
• For every 30 days that you've been a member, you gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
• For every 75 posts you have, you gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
• For every 250 Reputation Points you have, you gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
If you're still confused about the difference between "points" and "power", the simplest way I can explain it is by giving an example. Let's say I have a Reputation of 124 "points" and my "power" is 67. If I give Duckfeet a "rep click" on one of his posts, his Reputation "points" will increase by 67.

Finally, I wish I didn't have to say this, but past experience deems it to be necessary.
DO NOT ABUSE THE REPUTATION SYSTEM! It is not here for members to see who can get the highest rep level. It is here so all members can see who they should listen to and who to take with a grain of salt.. In addition, DO NOT use the Reputation system to leave nasty comments for another member, that is not what it's for.
Some additional tidbits that tie into the Rep. System:
• Access to the Papaver Somniferum forum starts after a member has 90 days and 90 posts OR once the member has a Rep. Point level of 500.

Hopefully this covers everything...if you have any questions or comments, feel free to reply.
I'll eventually move this thread to the "How Do I" forum for future reference.
