ZANAFLEX, it's classified as a muscle relaxant and it's not schedule (yet). They work wonderfully even alone I use them because I have a torn femoral nerve.
Anyway I always say it im scripted 6mg kpins a day and i never feel them at all. Zananflex isnt a benzo but since relaxes your muscles it gives somewhat of benzo feel. I knodded head on into the keyboard from one bag.
If anyone wants to to talk dosing mgs let me know, i done my homework

I've heard alot of people talk about zanaflex and everybody thinks its xanax and flexeril mixed together because of the name. What is the actual chemical name of it? And what dose did you take?

Tizanidine is the drug name. Well it like any other drug they tell you start with a 1 or 2mg till u get used to it. Now after a month im supposed to take 4mg BID... But I took 12mg and it floored me. Ive taken more too so be careful. no its not xanax and flexeril but it feels kinda like that, its got great muscle relaxing properties with sedative properties thatll guarantee a nod.

I built up a tolerance real fast on zanaflex. The first 2 times i took them it put me in nod land mixed with oxy, but then after that they hardly did shit for me. They were the 6mg blue gelcaps.

Believe it or not the capsules suck. They have a way different oral bio availability, food really effects them too. But I know what your saying about the tolerance with them that's why i have a strong feeling they will be scheduled at some point.
PHARMACOKINETIC DIFFERENCES BETWEEN Zanaflex Capsules™AND ZANAFLEX® TABLETS:
Zanaflex Capsules™ARE NOT BIOEQUIVALENT TO ZANAFLEX® TABLETS IN THE FED STATE. Yeah Ive done that. You can say it sucks to, each his own. My biggest problem actually is mixing pills with H and blacking out so I've really tried every pill there is with. I can get into pills that'll nod anyone out. It's just that i figured zanaflex is not scheded yet and so easy to get from your doc that people would be into it.
But hardcore potentiators? Restoril with halcion would have to be up at the top. There just not safe though, you forget how many you took suddenly you take like 20 of something over the night and wake up with pills all over the place (well this is me). Or in my excellent state of mind Ill decide to go driving and play how many times can i swipe the jersey barrier without getting into an accident. Or just plain swipe other cars, i did that blacked out and the guy got my plate and i got something from his insurance in the mail saying i owed 900 and change...

I hate Zanaflex.
Yes, it's a wonderful potentiator. The first time I took it on top of my regular opiates, i thought I had finally killed myself the nod was so bad. I was sitting at me desk, sure I was about to die, and I couldn't even write out a will. Couldn't write a single letter. Thought I was toast. Still today, the greatest nod I've ever gotten.
So why does it suck then? Because it seems to shorten the life of the opiate. If I take my normal bedtime dose of opiates, I sleep straight through the night without any problems. If I take Zanaflex, I pass out, but about 5 hours later everything (including the opiates) abruptly wears off. And I have to dose again to go back to sleep.
So yeah, it's great at the beginning, but at least for me, it shortens the opiate's life, which makes it totally not worth it.

I was not overly impressed with Tizanidine as a recreational medication or a potentiator, but Tizanidine is actually VERY useful when you are going through wd's. It is actually related to clonidine. It helps a bit with the restless legs/restless body feelings and it can also help a bit with the constant sweating. For some people, it can also allow them to get just a little bit of sleep...which of course can be very helpful during wd's.
So that would be my personal suggestion. Add the tizanidine (or clonidine) to your WD kit. It can be very helpful.

anybody know anything in this regard as to "Skelaxin" which my doc rx's me for back pain. I think it's kind of a stupid drug for my back pain, as it radiates to the back but originates in my pancreas (chronic pancreatitis pain). Thus, I don't see how a muscle relaxant, which I think this is, will help?
Sorry about poor grammar in this missve -- I'm hurrying to get my swimming today before some appointments and can't miss the swimming because I am tapering down my dose of opi's.

I've tried Zanaflex and hallucinated on them. Hard to believe, but I was told it affects neurotransmitters in the brain. These hallucinations were not nice ones either. As it turns out my doc said a very small precentage who take Zanaflex do hallucinate. Also, I am on some psychotropic meds so that may come into play as well
As for Skelaxin, I've taken that too, not very good. I've had a long history of CP and the best has been Soma. Yep, good old Soma. Problem is you gain very quick tolerance, so I take Xanax with it.

skelaxin doesnt do a damn thing. It really sucks. Probably the worst euphemism for muscle relaxant that I can think of. Pain I cant even believe a doctor would tell you it helps with pain.

The vet prescribed robaxin for one of my dogs after back surgery. It worked great for her, and when I had a few extra, great for me. I usually use Soma, but it's a wonderful backup. It's dirt cheap in Mexico - maybe $3 or $4 for 100.

Thanks for the 411 on Skelaxin. I should probably switch to Soma? If not, any other ideas? Also, what can I tell my doc to get him to switch me? Are their side effects of Skelaxin I can allude to?
Again, thanks,

Yes, I'm bringing up an old thread in order to avoid the UTFSE comments. Apparently I should have come here FIRST instead of picking up my script and tossing pills in my mouth.
I was prescribed Tizanidine a few months back but I didn't ever pick up the script. Well I threw my back out last week, and it's just not getting any better. So I decided to pick up the pills. I actually didn't know what I was prescribed, just that it was a muscle relaxer.
I took the pills about an hour ago (prescribed 8 mgs every 8 hours.) I just found this thread and I'm thinking I shouldn't have taken that high of a dose. I have a ton of driving to do this evening. I never get sleepy on muscle relaxers so I didn't think this would be any different. Ha! I'm seeing double, I'm exhausted, and I'm pain-free. How long do you think this effect will last?
Anyone think my mmt clinic is going to have an issue with this script?

I doubt the clinic would have a problem with it beng that its a script but it seems that different clinics are at either end of the spectrum these days. I've taken zanaflex and it didnt do much for me. I used to take Soma back in the day and from what I remembered it just did alittle bit more for me, not much though.
So now I take Soma again and at first it did very little for me. After a few months into it one day I had eaten and took 2 of them. I was fuckin floored!!!! If you eat something with them, even a piece of bread it is really powerful. Like "holy shit where am I?" kinda powerful. For those of you that take it or are looking for something better I suggest this and I can promise you that if you eat a fatty meal or even a peanutbutter & jelly you WILL notice a huge difference.
I could'nt believe it how wasted I got from this and since then I've been taking them with starchy kinda foods and its consistent, not to mention after 4 months I havent built up much of a tolorance using this method either. Really folks, I swear by it.:D

Skelaxin - had that when I first was diagnosed w/a herniated disk, before surgery. Horrible drug, worst thing I have ever taken. not only did it not do anything as a "musicle relaxant" it is the only drug that has ever made me truly sick; hurling sick. And I can stomach just about any medication or whatever.
YUCK.

My back has been out of place for two weeks... and this is the FIRST time I haven't been in terrible pain. Although I feel dopey, and keep nodding off while trying to read this board. Prescribed Skelaxin @ a low-cost clinic in TX. Asked for something for the pain, got a muscle relaxant. Okay, I thought, Soma's will work... nope, that shit (skelaxin) didn't do a DAMN thing for me. Finished one of the sample packs, and threw the rest away. Worthless, but @ least it was free... I guess
STILL trying to get Soma, got a friend who should be sending me some soon. Haven't even tried it, but after the stories I've heard, oh yeah! Can't wait to get some of dem.
PS. I know some online pharms still sell them, but I can't justify paying $100+ for a bottle of like 30 pills. So I've gone w/o, and will continue to, until delivery #1 is made :D Thanks! (U know who u are...)

Wonder if doc would script it on TOP of fent & BT meds? Some of my pain IS caused by muscle spasms in my abdomen, so technically, it's a valid treatment. But I only know maybe 2 or 3 people IRL that are rx'd it, and I don't know how docs' (especially mine) feel about it. It isn't Scheduled either is it? If I can get all 3 @ my appt., and the Soma's actually help me, I will gladly drop the BT meds (Not that I wanna lose my 40 Endocet 5/325's a month... ), I just hope I won't say none needed when he was about to write for dillies or roxi 30's.
Since it ain't a narcotic, I am gonna ask about it. Can't hurt, even if he thinks I'm a street-crawling, house robbing, blackmarket kidney seller of a junkie... I'm asking for a non-narcotic? Shouldn't be too hard to convince him to let me try something else besides more opioids.

Lucky I used to get 120 a month not too long ago but as soma is getting more and more controlled even in the states that it's not a controlled substance my doctor took me off of it in June or July along with my methadone and dexedrine. I remember seeing an article on the Illinois state website which is where I live and it was talking all about how doctors shouldn't prescribe it and stuff. I miss it soooo much. And ndoftaworld although methadone isn't as strong as fentanyl I had a friend and it, klonopin, vic, and a lot of other meds. And her doctor gave her Soma. And they really do help pain I think they are the most effective muscle relaxers.

Wheter u are talking about Soma or Zanaflex u just say that u've dealt with bad muscle spasm and that whichever one u really want helps more than anything. When I said that it was actually true but it works most of the time even if it isn't.
