wtf? I was rx'd this awhile back but the dose was so low - and I was just switched to lyrica - so I took about 1400mg tonight (highest I've ever taken of it) - and holy shit - I'm having shocking pains all within my chest and back.
how long is this going to last? How often do you have good experiences with this drug?
I've found amitriptyline good for dull constant pain - but the next day sedation is a bitch.

I used neurontin and couldn't stand the stuff. I remember Irish mentioning bad chest pain on neurontin.
Wait here it is, Irish post on page 2:

I really dislike neurontin.. 1400 mgs is a lot. I felt like shit on just 600 mg. After a few weeks I ditched te stuff.

Synack you might be sensitive or allergic to it. I have a torn femoral nerve and I take 4800 FUCKING mg a day of neurontin. They prescribe up to 5000. It's supposed to help nerve pain but i dont think it does shit for me....
Anyway your on Lyrica now sooo I dont know thatll help.

I dunno, some people really like the stuff, others hate it. it's an agonist of the α2δ subunit of the VDCC. Interesting stuff.
The lacking potency is a problem though. As is the decreasing absorption w/ increased dosing. Does prevent overdose death, though.
I have 81 grams of the stuff. I'm one of those people who really like it (but only for short intervals, it loses it's wonderful effects on me).

I've taken it for years. It took a long time for me to get passed the side effects though. It made me feel very slow... and even my vision would go foggy. It was weird. I still get super drowsy on it and only take it at night. My mom takes it three times a day and has never had any problems. I don't know how she functions on it like that.
I like it because it stops my insomnia, I used it during it wds and it really helped with the muscle aches and the restless leg stuff, and it also helps stop my headaches.
Sorry you are having a bad experience with it.

I needed a boost to my ego...thanks for being a "Saint" unto me
And my dearest Syn...have you tried Lyrica???
The "New Neurontin?" Or Cymbalta?
I think Lyrica dominates for nerve damaged pain, by far is superior.
Only issue I encountered is few extra pounds, so naturally had to quit...
But hey, that could all be a placebo???
And, Neurontin, nah, NEVER did shit for me either
Luv you,
Smojo

Lyrica fucked me. Seriously, It made my vision blurry, it caused vertigo, it made me feel like the buildings, my car, myself was sinking into the ground. I only stayed on it for two weeks - I don't know if that was enough to help the pain - but it didn't nothing worth a damn for me. Cymbalta didn't help with the pain either - but it did help with amazingly with the depression, and the sudden mood swing into extreme sadness and panic which would occur several times a day... Damn, I was emo.
Hell, even the heavy narcotics I'm on now don't take much of the pain away. The only non-narcotic drug that I've experienced any pain relief from was amitriptyline (25mg QDHS PO) after about 3 weeks of use. It only helped with the dull nagging constant ache - but there was minor sedation the next day, so I had to take it earlier in the day prior - usually around 6:00PM after I had returned home from pushing the buttons to maintain the Earth convolution on it's axis (the AXIS OF D00M!). I moved it up to 50mg, but the next day sedation never went away - and with my EDS/Random falling into deep/dream sleep at red lights and at work and shit, it's not something I can just 'deal' with in exchange for the pain relief...
Smojo, need a boost to your ego? sheesh, frickin' egomaniac! - do they make booster shots for that? aye aye aye.
I tried to get an Oxy increase and doc. gave me Lyrica. I can't tell that shit did a damned thing for me.

25mg QDHS PO
It took me 5 minutes to realize you meant QDS, or quater die sumendus. (yeah, i learned the latin last week after I didn't know what 'tid' stood for exactly, and my doc couldn't answer either, it's ter in die, by the way).
I've always had a wrong 'brackronym' for all of these, tid= three instances daily, qd = od = once daily, bid= 'bi-instances daily'... silly, but I remembered it.

For those who have tried it, what's with the abuse warning? Everything I've read warns that it can be abused especially by those who have had troubles with addiction. Is there any sort of recreational benefit to this stuff?
That's a good question BDG. It's a C-IV. I don't see how the hell it's a controlled substance.

thats the exact same combo i was on: dilantin, depakote, and klonopins
but there were 13 other drugs that i was rxed at the same time in addition
16 drugs, all psych shit, tranks, and benzos
that was an interesting period of my life
the diagnosis of "rapid-cycling bipolar disorder with manic tendencies + manic-delusional schizophrenia"
gets you tons and tons of drugs...

Wow, neurontin/gabapentin seems to be one of those newer drugs that has a VERY different reaction to everyone that uses it; some good and others bad. We've had other threads on it and the opinion seems to be the same throughout.
I am Rx'd it as an alternative to narcotics for my carpal-tunnel and shoulder/neck tendonitis. Doesn't seem to do much for that. HOWEVER: I take it in conjunction with Subutex and for me (and my wife), it seems to allow me to take a lower dose, and also helps for some of the milder symptoms for withdrawal. It also helped us with a pretty hardcore benzo kick recently. Honestly, without it, I'd have been fucked I think...
I have experienced a sort of 'high' from it---only when I first take it after not having it for a while, and then only if I've taken a high dose (somewhere around the amount the OP described). It's a very weird mind-altering feeling; the best way I can describe it is like tripping. This goes away after the first or second day. This is just my (and Mrs. K's) experience with it, and I'm glad I have access to it. Also it's a very cheap script---around $16 for ninety 300mg cps. It's strange to me the huge difference in experience that everyone has with it, though.
