Help!

I posted this in the Health/Well Being forum, but I can't even see my own thread so I'll repost here.

I'd been clean for almost 5 months up until last night. I dabbled with a few shots of black tar heroin. Now, this morning I wake up and where I injected in my left arm is fine but where I shot (only once) in my right arm, there looks like a red streak or rash - almost like I rubbed it raw. The rash appears to be where the vein would be if I had my tourniquet in place. It is maybe an inch long. It's not really painful, just a little tiny bit of pain when I bend my arm fully either way, no throbbing pain, and I can't tell if it's warm to the touch because it's in the crook of my arm and that's already warm. It also looks like the fingers on my right arm might be somewhat swollen too.

Do I have blood poisoning? An infection? Someone please help.

Edit - I forgot to mention I have a Dr's appointment today. Should I tell her about this? I'd really prefer not to say it's from IV Drug Use..Can I say anything else?

I don't know: I mean, just about every time I *did* tar I got something like this: that crap is hell on veins and the surrounding areas...and on all the other I guess I'd just use the best judgement. I wouldn't over-react, on the other hand, if it starts to get *worse* then I'd definitely see a doc, or maybe just go to the ER as I don't want my primary care doc starting to see me as a "die and go to hell junky", rather than "kindly old grandpa who has some 'pain issues'"

We can't really diagnose it here, and of course, we don't want to tell u to ignore it, that "it'll be alright" and then have something happen, so naturally we'll be all over the place w/advice and such... again, I'd try to just make a sound appraisal of it, and remember that tar is just hell on the bod.....

dont tell the doc unless it gets worse. like DF said, with tar this happens often. i wouldnt worry about it too much, but if it gets worse over the next few days then definitely go to the ER.
